A Zombie Question

The question was asked, “In the event of a zombie apocalypse, would you rather be turned into a zombie or have everyone you love turned into a zombie? Why?”

Neither, because I would want to be whatever my family and friends are. That way, I would not feel lonely, out of place, or scared of them or they of me.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE – BAD! THAT IS THE ZOMBIE QUESTION

The question was asked, “In the event of a zombie apocalypse, would you rather be turned into a zombie or have everyone you love turned into a zombie? Why?” My answer is neither because I would want to be whatever my family and friends are. That way, I would not feel lonely, out of place, or scared of them, or they of me. With that said, I encourage you to reflect upon the following.

Are zombies only bad? Is there such a thing as a good zombie? What makes a zombie anyway?  Okay, so one must die first then be reanimated to live in such an auspicious manner. Who expects to awaken from the grave, anyway? Then suddenly, BAM! a zombie you are! Why not be reincarnated instead of reanimated? Apparently, the choice is not yours. But just because you may be reanimated as a zombie instead of being reincarnated as a loving pussycat, does that necessarily make you a bad being?  Why are people always running away from zombies? Somewhere along the line, I personally think that zombies became and still are misunderstood. My philosophy is this…if a zombie is bad, then the person that died and was later reanimated must have been a bad person upon death. I mean, really. Think about it. Do you really think that a person who was loving, compassionate, helpful, and in possession of so many other attributes would be reanimated as a bad zombie? I think not! And, what about the zombies’ relatives like ghosts, vampires, mummies, etc.? All ghosts are not bad. Remember Casper? So why would one assume that are all zombies are bad? Shucks! They, along with their relatives, even have their own song and dance called the monster mash. Now, do you really think that any zombie who likes to party would be all that bad where fright should overtake you? Just something to make you go hmm.

Monster Mash Song and Dance

My Disney Remix

For the audio assignment I chose the Disney Lyric Mash up as I am a massive Disney Fan.  I know all of the words to the songs (pretty much) so it was kinda easy to chose the songs which fit together. Firstly I download the songs I wanted, this was quite hard just picking as few but I wanted songs that flowed together and had a similar background and pace. I chose.

Moana – How far I’ll gomon.jpg

Cinderella – A dream is a wish your heart makes

cin

Sleeping beauty – one day my Prince will come

slep

Tangled – I see the light

disney_tangled_110416_1800x1200-1800x1200.jpg

Frozen – For the first time in forever

frozen.jpg

Once I picked the songs I edited them down to section I wanted use I movie. I tried to imagine the songs flowing together and matching up the sections that sounded some what similar. One of the songs went from a woman singing to a man so I used this as a transition and changed to male voice in the middle of the song which I think was a nice touch. I only intended for the audio to be a minuet long however I go carried away and it ended up being over three. Once I finalised the audio I added a personal touch of using one of my own photos from my holiday to disney world last year to put over the music so it could be uploaded to youtube.

I found this task really fun and would love to do it again. I would of liked to spend for time on it to perfect it however I did spend nearly two hours so I’m happy with outcome.

Repeat After Me

Many artists now a days find their fame on the internet, take Justin Bieber, for example. But how do they start?

Most artists start by covering pre-existing songs and music online, to build up a following. This shows off their voice and talents to remix to a certain extent, but also leaves writing originals either to the professionals or for when they are more well known.

It’s a well known fact that I can’t sing. At all. Not in the slightest, so I wasn’t about to belt a tune out for you all, apologies but you can thank me later.

An iconic artist for me is Adele, I love her music and think she is a great alternative to other mainstream modern music. She has talent, but she doesn’t overkill it by singing 24/7. Let’s face it, we don’t hear Adele every day.

But, I found it quite interesting when I search for arguably my favourite of her songs, When We Were Young. I was surprised just how many covers have been made, as it was never released as a single. This just goes to show her popularity and talent is clear to many. One interesting cover was by a guy called Callum Scott, he was on BGT a few years back, but never really stood out to me. Until now.

Callum’s cover is in a completely different key to the original and it really strikes me as a pure contrast. It makes the original appear much brighter and positive that it does if you listen to it alone. I used iMove to create a short mashup of the two versions, giving them whole verses each. I thought this was important with the style of song it is.

The two take turns to recite the ballad, with the contrast of keys coming in between so not appearing too garish. In my opinion, the whole song now sounds like a duet. Take a listen to the final result here, and let me know your thoughts.

I’ve also provided this handy youtube link, just incase SoundCloud removes my audio!

Assignment Bank 17 #DS106 (4 Star)

I did “I’m Ready for my Close Up” Mashup Assignment.

I had to use Adobe Photoshop and mix 2 images together…again,

whispers… *and again.*

I was suppose to mash 2 images together, but this time it was a dramatic event of someone’s face and turn it into something completely different.

If you read my other blogs than you probably already know how I do this, but I’ll explain it again, I used Adobe Photoshop to open the images and than quick selected a soccer player in which he was celebrating a goal. Well where he’s going in this next picture he won’t be celebrating anymore. I grabbed a “School” picture, yes that is correct. A school picture. I pasted him, and viola he was in it celebrating being at school, what a champ.

What a way of celebration! (Man! I need to get out more…)

Assignment Bank 16 #DS106 (4 Star)

I did “Photo Mash” Mashup Assignment.

Short story on how I took this picture, it’s pretty interesting, let me tell you.

I picked up Rambo who was hitchhiking and The Mad Hatter I saw skipping down the road. I told them I was fans and that it would be cool to get a nice photo for my blog, and they both agreed, luckily there was a forest nearby and Rambo got into his position with his M-60, (in which I didn’t even realize he had on him or I wouldn’t have remotely picked him up.) The Mad Hatter decided to just roam around and do nothing while we tried giving him orders.  Finally Rambo grew restless and said he had to be somewhere and started shooting at the Mad Hatter, I decided to get a picture, (because I’m dumb and didn’t think that Rambo killing Mad Hatter was important at the time, oops…)

(Do it for the Blog!) (P.S. If you couldn’t tell that story is completely false!)

Moving on…

I had to use Adobe Photoshop and mix 2 images together…again, but this time they had to be actors! They also had to match their environment, meaning the Easter Bunny can’t be on the moon. As you can see I grabbed Rambo and the Mad Hatter, in which they have both been in the jungle at one point, so I used the jungle as a location. I cut Rambo out of his picture and Mad Hatter out of his picture, put them in the jungle picture, resized, re-perspectived, and new lighting. Since it was in the jungle I din’t want to dim the lighting or make the camera bad to make my Photoshop look better, so it took some time to cut to make it look better.

Assignment Bank 15 #DS106 (4 Star)

I did “Superhuman in Everyday Life” Mashup Assignment.

Summary:

I had to use Adobe Photoshop and mix 2 images together by showing what I wanted my superpower to be. It’s close but I can’t really show invisibility through images now can I. So Super Jump/Leap it is! I didn’t choose fly because it’s so overrated and exaggerated that I think super jump would be much better. All I did was mix a man in a business suit who looked like he was in air and a picture of a tall building or a skyscraper. For this image though I had to add a lens flare, because of the difference in lighting.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you do have to add a lens flare make sure you do it on the layer you want to add it on, and/or separate the object you want to add it on, because once you add a lens flare you can’t take it off unless you undo it or restart everything you did. Please make sure all adjustments are done before lens flare is added and don’t just keep adding lens flares unless you need one on a different layer.

My original images:

Bring all your images into Photoshop by either double clicking Photoshop, clicking file, open, and than selecting your images, or if Photoshop is your default photo viewer, than you can just double click the images.

Leap

Skyscraper

So now that we have the images in Photoshop, we can select the part of the image we want from one of them and merge it with the other image.

We want to select the picture we want and click the Quick Selection Tool, this tool is handy for when you want to select a particular area.

Quick_Selection

For this example and Assignment bank I want the guy in the air, but maybe somebody else wanted the spring, also for recommendation I would suggest to save all of your original images before you change them, as well as if you might use them again.

So you want to select the object you using completely while trying to get rid of excess space. As you can see in the picture I tried to get as much as possible of him as I could, but I tried to get as least as possible of the background. If you mess up don’t worry, there is a quick selection minus which is in the left corner. Make sure to size your quick selection tool for the right position and you don’t have to be perfect.

Selected_Objected

The next part you are going to do is click to your move tool or press V on your keyboard. This is your main tool. You are going to Click and Hold than Drag it to the other image. It should pop up with whatever size it was in the original image it was in which could be fine. If it is too small it is no good, it is too big than that is perfectly fine. Trying to resize a small image to a big image can merge the pixels and make it blurry, making it a mess and horrible to look at.

Object_Moved

To re-size you are going to want to hold down Shift + Ctrl, because if you don’t you are damaging the original image and making it distorted. Make sure you are holding them down when you are re-sizing because as soon as you let go it will distort.

Shift_Ctrl

When you finish it should look smaller, (or a little bit bigger because you can’t make a image really big without merging pixels.) Place the image where you want it and than we are going to do a special effect called a Lens Flare.

Object_Resized

Lens Flare:

PLEASE NOTE REPEATED:

If you do have to add a lens flare make sure you do it on the layer you want to add it on, and/or separate the object you want to add it on, because once you add a lens flare you can’t take it off unless you undo it or restart everything you did. Please make sure all adjustments are done before lens flare is added and don’t just keep adding lens flares unless you need one on a different layer.

To add a lens flare I couldn’t actually show where to go, but you click Filter -> Render -> Lens Flare, please make sure you are on the right layer. If you mistakenly added it on the wrong layer or messed up in general just click Edit -> Step Backward or press Ctrl -> Z on your keyboard, (only works once.)

Lens_Flare

When you click Lens Flare this box will pop up. The small plus sign is where the lens flare is and Obviously the slider box is brightness and the Lens types provide different lighting types. Pick the one you like and the distance and the brightness. You also never want to go full brightness, unless of course you want the object to be completely white.

Weather Woman Drowning Her Enemies

Upon going to this weeks assignment post to make sure I had done everything, I noticed that my mashup were supposed to be related to my character. Since my other 12 stars of assignments did not I decided to do a fourth assignment with my character. I created a new assignment where you have to combine your desired superpower (or in this class’s case, our character’s powers) and create a mashup with an everyday scene. In the example photo I provided I push Flash rushing to class on a college campus.

Attack on Weatherman

For this assignment I used a photo of a confused weatherman. Then took three separate photos of rain, clouds, and lightening and layered them over to look like it is raining on the weatherman during his segment. Weather Woman has a well known vendetta against bad weathermen. In this case, she let her emotions get a little out of control and opened up a lighting storm on this weatherman. He laughed it off like a water bucket prank, but inside he would for every be terrified of the freak storm that opened up over his head. He would leave weather reporting, much to Weather Woman’s delight. Based on this moment, another bad weatherman has gone into retirement.

Viking from Iowa

For my final assignment this week I decided to combine the logos from my two favorite sports teams (4 stars).

To be completely honest, I do not keep up with sports at all. I have never sat through a game that was not a high school homecoming game. However, out of family obligation, I do have two favorite football teams, one professional and one college. I took the Iowa Hawkeyes logo and added it to the front of the Minnesota Vikings helmet like a cute little sticker. I picture a big brother Viking who just wants to support the college team of their southern neighbors in a nice subtle way. I have bought many a Hawkeyes bumper sticker in y life so it is bringing something I see in my everyday life and altering it slightly to make it fit within the limits of the assignment.

Blue

For my final mashup assignment this week, I did the “What Color is Your World?” assignment. I chose the color blue, because that’s my character Little Rascal’s favorite color.

I took pictures throughout the day (at work ,at lunch, at home) of blue objects and uploaded them into a video. I added in Eiffel 65’s “Blue” as the soundtrack because – duh – it’s about a blue world.

The song really is perfect. It gets the point across well.

Makeup Maniac

For my second assignment I did a mashup where I take a logo from a business and add something to it to show my favorite product from that place (3.5 stars). I decided to go with Sephora.

My favorite thing to buy from Sephora is eyeshadow singles and pallets. When I decided to do this I did not realize how creepy it was going to turn out. However, the reality of this creation has inspired a new story to attached with it. Anyone who has every been to Sephora knows that when you go with no makeup on you instantly feel judged. You can feel the employees watching you with their perfectly lined eyes wondering what an amateur is doing in their store. I do not wear make-up most days right now so I have definitely been feeling this stare. So this image, originally intended to be a simplistic edit to an already minimalist design, has become the judge-y eye of the Sephora employees.
