PSA: EVERYONE PLEASE DIE!

PSA

*under construction

This assignment allowed creativity to take over and for the fun to flow! The goal of this assignment was to pick an issue of whatever (silly, serious, etc.) and make a public service announcement. I decided to have fun with these assignments to let go and let fun do allll the work. I have to say that I am a HUGE The Office fan…so I decided to let it influence my work this week. My topic I decided would be that there are too many damn people on this planet, and we need to do something about it. Like yesterday. So, I started off by using KeepVid and downloading a couple videos, like one of crowds of people, then a song to go along with the entire video I Hate People (Yup, that’s a real song), and ending with my personal favorite one of Dwight, hating people. :) I used iMovie because it makes life sooooooo much easier, and I cut up the clips so that it includes each one of the scenes that I want, as well as the News Theme iMovie offers! I did find trouble during the text I wanted to put. i wanted it to be dramatic, and go slow but every time I tried to slow it down, it just wouldn’t seem to go as slow as I wanted it to so I just let it use the standard speed but even when I still try to change the duration time, it still seems to be iffy, so that’s something I hope to fix as I continue to use iMovie over time. However, i am still pleased with my product and I’m also happy to report that it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, but only because of how much practice I’ve been getting with iMovie. Anyways, this assignment was a wonderful five ?’s, here’s the final product and please like if you agree with Dwight and me!

Lip Synch Your Favorite Song

For my fourth video assignment this week I did lip synch your favorite song which was worth two stars. The rules for this assignment were to pick a verse of a song and do a lip synch for it.

As soon as I saw this assignment I was quite excited for it.  I sing along to songs in my car like a crazy and me and my sisters have been know to make up hand motions to a couple too many songs.  I got help from my friend Mia on this assignment.  I had some serious computer issues this week so she let me record some stuff on her computer and since she was here she decided to go ahead and be in my video as well.

We picked the song We are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift to do our lip synch too.  We are both kind of obsessed with Taylor (which I am sure you can tell I am if you watch any of my videos this week) so this was an easy choice for us.

To make this video we simply played the song while we recorded ourselves lip synching along in iMovie.  Weirdly enough we didn’t really feel all that silly doing it and had a fun time making ourselves look crazy.  I had to cut the beginning and end of our videos to make it so that only the song was apart of the video.  We had a good amount of giggling before and after in the originally copy.

Here is our lip synch.  Enjoy!

Eleven stars down and five to go!

Fun Facts – The Ultimate Book of Useless Information

This is my Story 2 Stars!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7tZ-cEIqJg&feature=youtu.be

This was my favorite assignment to do these past two weeks.

It took me a while to come up with what I wanted to write on the index cards.  I was thinking a lot and bouncing ideas around.  Then I remembered all the random/uesless facts I know and decided to have fun with it.

I wanted it to be informational and fun so I put in person contents for each of the 5 facts.  I figured sense I was not speaking and most of the facts were animal related, that I would use circus music in the background.  It also helped with the fun and silly part of it.

I recorded myself on me lab top webcam and then loaded that into movie maker, where I add the music.

Words

A word, A Picture, A Story 3 stars!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brplw8ycqIQ&feature=youtu.be

Before creating the story for this video I chose 5 random words.

Monkey

Dance

Tree

Coconut

Beach Ball

Google gave me a lot of options of pictures for each word.  I chose which ones I liked and then put them all into Movie Maker.  My sister and I sat down and looked at the pictures.  I started the story saying there was a monkey in the jungle.  We each left our statements open ended for the next one to fill in using the pictures and words I chose.

After we finished and I added in so jungle noises I watched what I had just created.  I do not think this assignment was as fun as some of the others were, but I think I did pretty well.  My story flows together and is kind of silly.  The picutres help guide the film and I am proud of what I produced.

The movie maker tool was very easy to use for this assignment.

I am Me

For my last video assignment, I completed “I am Me” This 4 star assignment is just a video that represents you. There was only one example listed and it was a girl making some silly faces, so I thought this would definitely be fun to do, thought I didn’t make any fun faces!

I made a video intro and closing and just added a bunch of pictures with captions. This video was all about me afterall, and I’m not a huge fan of hearing my voice on playback and I figured everyone would enjoy looking at pictures more than hearing my voice anyways. I went with four different categories “I love…” “I am obsessed with…” “I love to travel” and “Sometimes I.” In each category, I add a bunch of pictures of people, things, and places. I also added to lists “My favorites” and “Not a fan of.” In addition to those two lists, I added a fun fact about myself.

For the music I chose two songs that I really love right now. First is Taylor Swift’s song “22,” in addition to liking the song, I am 22 years old and I thought it would fit in the video perfectly. The second song is “Ho Hey” by the Lumineers, but the version I used is a cover by Lennon and Maisy Stella who are real life sisters and actresses on the ABC tv show “Nashville.” I heard their cover on the show the other night and instantly feel in love with it!

I pulled the “Ho Hey” cover from Youtube and downloaded it to a MP3 using KeepVid, I already owned 22. From this point, I just added them into iMovie and set them up how I wanted them to play. I finalized the video and then remembered I forgot to put an intro slide and closing credits. So once I put those in, I finalized the movie again and uploaded it to Youtube.

Once again I had to do two different screen shots so you could see my work in iMovie. iMovie for I am me Screen shot 2013-04-11 at 9.00.39 PM

I just received an email from youtube saying that parts of my video (I assume the music, because the pictures are all mine) “are owned or licensed by UMG, but still available on Youtube. In some cases, it maybe blocked.” So hopefully it will still play below. But if you have any issues, please let me know.

PS. I thought I had cut out the initial squirming around I do in the intro clip. Sorry for the error and weirdness.

Catnip…A Crisis. *****

Ok, so I thought the first 2 video assignments I did were pretty fun..But this one was absolutely hilarious and I loved filming it.  The assignment, Public Service Announcement, called to make a PSA on a something we really wanted to make people aware of, or just a goofy, silly topic.  Of course, I chose the goofy topic.

Since my roommates have cats, it didn’t take long to come up with the idea of catnip abuse.  I started by writing out everything I was going to say, and then I filmed the cats doing those things.  Using Audacity, I recorded myself and uploaded Sarah McLachlan‘s song “Angel” to play in the background.  That song is so overused in commercials, so I thought it would be funny to put it with something that’s not serious.  I used Windows Movie Maker to organize the clips of the cats and then uploaded the audio from Audacity to play in the video.  Finally, I uploaded the end video to YouTube! Enjoy!

11/16 stars.

“Big Wedding” Coming soon to DS106TV (***)

This image was created for the “Really Reality TV” assignment where you generate 2 words and create them into a TV show. I decided when I was going to generate my pair of words, I would NOT change them no matter how silly. The first pair of words that appeared were “Big Wedding.” What’s funny about this title is that there IS going to be a movie coming out this year called “Big Wedding“. “You gotta be kidding me,” I thought. Since I’d promised not to change it no matter what, I decided to do my own rendition of the movie using the paragraphs I’d acquired from the Google searches.

DS106TV Presents Big Wedding

More than 3,500 couples from all around the world gathered in South Korea to tie the knot in a wedding ceremony organised by the Unification Church.

Anyway, add a superfluous Topher Grace and a soundtrack composed of every overplayed trailer musical cue save “Born To Be Wild,” and you’ve pretty much got the entire history of modern mainstream American comedy, all condensed into a scant two-and-a-half minutes. If only Zackham had included Steve Martin and Kate Hudson confusedly wandering through the wedding party, so sure they’re meant to be there, everyone could have officially stopped making movies.

Nerd Valentines III: Attack of the Valentines

Yet another Valentine’s Day has arrived and for the third year in a row I whipped some cards up, and yet again I did not improve my style (but I kinda like the “bad” look to them… they’re campy). This years batch includes Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars. And so without any further ado… valentinelove First is Doctor Who. The blue box is basically a time traveling machine that the characters use so I feel like the phrase is pretty self explanatory. valentineinfatuate This needs a bit more explaining. These aliens, though they may look silly, are one of the Doctor’s biggest (if not THE biggest enemy). To put it very simply they roll around, say “EXTERMINATE” and try to zap things with their lasers. So instead of EXTERMINATE I had them say INFATUATE, which I know someone on the internet has done before but whatever.
valentineyoda This is another one I’m sure someone somewhere has done: a Valentine with Yoda speak.
valentineredshirt Now for the Star Trek ones. This is a redshirt. In the Star Trek universe redshirts are known to die, so much so that any expendable type character in other shows/movies are known as redshirts. The phrase on this one comes from a Ke$ha song and I feel like it was appropriate.
valentineornot And finally, my anti-Valentine. Something new this year. Doctor Leonard “Bones” McCoy is my favorite character in Star Trek: The Original Series and the new movies but I couldn’t figure out how to make a Bones-centric Valentine so I took his catch phrase “I’m a Doctor not a… (bricklayer, escalator, physicist)” and altered it to be an anti-Valentine.

PSA!

Hi guys!

After our video week, I decided that it would be really cool if there was a video assignment that entailed making your own Public service announcement! I created one for my “Hitchcut” assignment about teen pregnancy and thought it would be fun for others to do as well! So I submitted it as a video assignment!

It is called “Public Service Announcement” and it is video assignment 796.

The assignment reads:

“Do you care about a current issue in our society and want others to be aware of it too?? Well here is your chance! Pick (or make up) some type of issue. Create a video public service announcement to promote the issue you would like to be resolved! You can be as serious as you want or as silly as you want! Just have fun with it!

Check out: http://saloproductions.com/public-service-announcements/psa-samples.php for examples of public service announcements.”

This is the Public Service Announcement that I created:

I got the idea from The Secret Life of the American Teenager and used a clip from The Pregnancy Pact. (Original media Clip)

First I downloaded the video clip I wanted to use from you tube. Then I used Windows movie maker and Powerpoint to edit it and add my own slides to the announcement.

I hope you enjoy this assignment and have fun with it!! Interpret it however you’d like! :)

Just another Manic Monday…

This is video assignment 467, Song Visualization. It is worth 2 stars.

“Pick a song (or a minute from a song) and create a video that displays a picture representing the lyrics. Feel free to make it silly or stick with the theme of the song.”

I chose this assignment because I am always watching music videos like this on YouTube, I thought it would be fun to create my own! I chose to do Manic Monday by The Bangle because I think it is a song everyone relates to. After all, who likes Mondays?

I HATE MONDAYS. I love the feeling of sleeping in over the weekend and relaxing, until Monday comes and it is back to reality. I always feel like the weekend spoils me, hearing Monday’s alarm to wake up comes as a shock to me every week, it never fails.

This song is a story in itself, about a Morning. I think many have had mornings like this (hopefully I am not alone here). I really like songs like this one that contain a story (especially when it is a relate-able one).

This assignment wasn’t to difficult. First I saved all of the photos into a folder,  the photos came from Flickr. I opened up Movie Maker and dragged all of the photos into the program, then I placed them in the correct order.  Once the pictures were in the order that they were going to be used, I dragged the sound file into Movie Maker as well (it has been waiting patiently in my iTunes for years). Next I trimmed about 10 seconds off of the long intro to the song and changed the amount of seconds each picture was displayed so that it would appear at the right moment in the song. (This took quite a while and I think I listened to the song about 50 times). Once the timing was all working, I added a title slide and credits at the end.
