Visual Assignment: Create a Silly Movie Poster

Grand Budapest Hotel meets weird animals all from different environments and time periods?

This assignment required me to take a movie poster and make it look silly. I used the graphic-design website Canva to upload a picture of the movie poster I downloaded from Google Images and then insert all the illustrations! I chose the Grand Budapest Hotel because I recently saw it for the first time over winter break and really enjoyed it! Plus I think the movie poster is really pretty. Another easy 4 star assignment!

Create A Silly Movie Poster

Harry Potter never actually met Dobby. He only met Irri. Irri is a free gnome!

Silly Movie Poster

For this assignment, I used Photoshop’s selection tool to highlight the parts I want from the picture as shown below.

Then made copies of it on the Iron Man movie poster

I couldn’t (for the life of me) get this to upload onto WordPress. I made the photo public so hopefully this link should lead to the new and improved movie poster.

So, how about a collaboration between Fifty Shades Of Grey and The Grey?

I recently saw a post with the most recent Fifty Shade’s Of Grey movie trailer. In the trailer it attempted to be dark and dramatic, so I thought, “Self, let’s make 50 Shades Of Grey a few shades darker.” Thus, enter Liam Neeson and his pack of hungry man eating wolves!

I made this Visual Assignment after my movie Scene Assignment and it was actually much less difficult. I think I’ve gotten the hang of photoshop a bit more, although I am still a complete amateur. Searching for photos that could be easily cropped was probably the most difficult part.

Now, I’m dreaming of what this actual movie would be like and what other little things I can photoshop and create. I know how addictive the Internet can be when it comes to videos, memes, etc. But it just got a little more addictive now that I have photoshop.

Create a silly Movie Poster

Take an exisiting movie poster and make it look silly. My final project involved an Ewok who wanted to be in a movie with Arnold Schwarzengger. This is his idea of a poster.

Famous Movie Poster

The Breakup-anator!!!

Right person, wrong time – ANATOR!

I saw this assignment and it really caught my eye. For this assignment I chose La La Land and wanted to make it silly by incorporating some famous Phinneas and Ferb icons. Cleary I had to put Dr. Doofenschmirtz and Doofenschmirtz Evil Inc. I had the movie poster and then I edidted in the images of the building, blimp, and Doof himself by removing their backgrounds and layering them on top of the base (movie poster). Once I had them layered the way I wanted them, I went back and edited the brightness of the building. I struggled a little with this because it didn’t quite match the background poster but I did what I could. Overall I think this assignment was really fun and I learned how to become better with layering different objects. I could definitely have done better to make it fit more by changing the lightening of the objects and trying to make it look like it belonged there originally. This poster is really funny and also could be used to tell a story maybe for future assignments! I would give this assignment a 9/10 highly recommend!!!!!

Wacky 80’s Movie Poster

For my second Visual Assignment Bank project I chose a 3.5 star assignment entitled, Create a silly Movie Poster.

I am not sure how “silly” my poster is, but I learned quite a bit by creating it! I learned how to add images/objects to a photo using Photoshop. Photoshop seems a lot less intimidating after completing this assignment.

Utilizing the free Photoshop tutorial I created my poster with the original When Harry Met Sally poster. I then looked at movie posters from other famous 80’s movie posters. Using the layers, quick select, brush, and masking tools featured in Photoshop I erased the backgrounds of the other posters to focus on main characters.

Harry and Sally are now joined by the cast of The Breakfast Club (’85), the Ghostbusters‘ ghost (’84), Jack Torrance from The Shining (’80), John McClane from Die Hard (’88), and Sam from Sixteen Candles (’84).

It’s not perfect, but I gained a lot from it! Hope you enjoy my revamped poster!

Remixing movie poster

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-a-silly-movie-poster/

For this assignment I chose to use one that I had already done as requested and remix it. I chose to do the silly movie poster that I had done where I had Jason Bourne and Kim Kardashians with the title He’s Just Not That Into You.

Then I decided to do this one as my second remix assignment. I got the remix “stuffy art critic” so I am going to critique my own work: the colors come together to make a certain je ne sais quoi and make it pop. The use of black and white exaggerates the colors used in the picture. I throughly enjoy how one subject takes more space than the other. Overall this is a fantastic piece and I love it.
