Silly Movie Poster

For this assignment, I used Photoshop’s selection tool to highlight the parts I want from the picture as shown below.

Then made copies of it on the Iron Man movie poster

Movie Posters IRL

This was an extremely time consuming process but I loved it so much I just had to make my life more difficult and make several! First of all, having to coordinate a time to meet up with my movie poster “models” was quite possibly the most difficult part of the who thing. Then I decided that I would hand write all of the titles for the movie posters. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my handwriting so each took at least a couple of tries. Next I made a background in photoshop and compiled the images together to make it into a gif. In hindsight I wish I had added more frames so it looked less choppy, although it already took me plenty of time to create the ones I had. I think the my favorite of the three is the 40-Year-Old Virgin movie poster. It’s simplicity is reminiscent of the original poster, and I think I liked my handwriting best for this one.

Movie Poster Mash up

Two of my favorite Tom Hanks movies, Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan. I decided to do these two movies because I feel like Tom Hanks is compared in both of these movies even though they are completely different and he has completely different rolls in each film.

To make this movie poster I found the poster of Hanks from the film Forrest Gump and recreated the name to say Private Gump, combining the two main characters from each film. I was able to change the time of the movie poster by using the Preview application on my desktop.

New Movie Poster

Alright, lets be real.  Lisbeth is the all time bada** warrior to ever be witnessed in film.  I really liked this movie and when I found this picture on google I knew it would be the perfect fit for a different poster idea and what not.   Although the movies are completely different in nature and context, I think the frame just looks nice and doesn’t seem all that out of place either. I went to pixlr.com in order to import the original still and used the editing tools to insert text.  From there I just placed it where I thought it would be most aesthetically pleasing.

Movie poster mashup

This assignment is called movie mashup and is worth 4.5 stars. For it I had to take a poster from a movie I like and mash it up with a movie it is often compared to. One of my favorite movies is Love Actually so I decided to go with that as the poster of the movie I like. It is often compared to the movie Notting Hill, so I used that one as well. I decided to use http://pixlr.com/editor/ to edit these posters together. I used a picture of some of the cast of Love Actually as the original layer and took the part of the Notting Hill poster with Julia Roberts in the background and layered it on top and made it a little opaque so it is easier to see the two. I decided to put the cut out of her head next to Hugh Grant because he is one of the reasons the two movies link together and are often compared to each other. Then I took the words Notting Hill from that poster and took the word actually from the other poster and layered those together on top so it looked like the title is now Notting Hill Actually. I think that it turned out pretty well and enjoyed making it.

Remixing movie poster

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-a-silly-movie-poster/

For this assignment I chose to use one that I had already done as requested and remix it. I chose to do the silly movie poster that I had done where I had Jason Bourne and Kim Kardashians with the title He’s Just Not That Into You.

Then I decided to do this one as my second remix assignment. I got the remix “stuffy art critic” so I am going to critique my own work: the colors come together to make a certain je ne sais quoi and make it pop. The use of black and white exaggerates the colors used in the picture. I throughly enjoy how one subject takes more space than the other. Overall this is a fantastic piece and I love it.

Movie poster mashup

Fitting the spy theme, I did a mashup of James Bonds for an assignment from the assignment bank. I used Photoshop and it was pretty simple. If you notice, I made a slight alteration to the text at the top.

Minimalist TV/Movie Poster

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/minimalist-tvmovie-poster/).

I tried to make a minimalist poster for the show mobile suit gundam. I tried to make the head of the titular unit. It was difficult trying to convey it so it is remotely recognizable without adding too many details.

Minimalist TV/Movie Poster

ARCHER

For this assignment, I chose the tv show “Archer”, which focuses on spy working for the intelligence agency, ISIS. Archer is known on the show for being a lush and is almost always seen with a drink in his hand, so I thought it would be fitting to make alcohol the theme for the poster. I chose a simple photo with just the bottles, and I put a label on the bottom with the show’s name in it, to kind of make it look as though he was a liquor himself.

I couldn’t (for the life of me) get this to upload onto WordPress. I made the photo public so hopefully this link should lead to the new and improved movie poster.
