Play DJ & Make A Song

Play DJ & Make A Song (2 Stars)

This Audio Assignment can be found here: http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/play-dj-make-a-song/

For this assignment, I had to make an attempt in producing a song without recording my own audio, which believe or not actually was a challenge for me as I have recorded most of my audio projects so far. With not being able to record my own music, I decided to use soundation.com/studio to mix prerecorded instruments and beats to form my song. I was inspired by some of the Tokyo Drift soundtrack just because it is very lively in a different way, I like different. It also gave me an opportunity to express the Asian half of me (I am half Filipino). Some of the sounds used included a bass clap, a hi hat, a small gong (for the oriental feel) and finally a bass kick. I played around with the order of the instrument and with that, I had my final product.

One of our Audio Assignments was to create a beat of our own from scratch using an audio program.  Myself and a buddy (who raps) used to sit around and make beats all of the time, but I have never used GarageBand so I figured I would give it a shot on my Macbook pro.  Needless to say, my work needs some work.  Oh well, check it out below.  Feel free to re-record it after you lay down some verses!

Not really, it is nothing special.  Hope you enjoy!

Apple Loop Song

For my new assignment, I decided to make an audio project that utilizes playing around with loops that come with Garageband, or that you can find online.

I feel like most people with Garageband have attempted to make a song using the loops at one point or another- I know I have.

My inspiration came from this video, where a guy made an orchestral arrangement that is incredibly impressive.

I only made the assignment worth 2 stars, because I don’t personally think it’s that difficult- mostly just messing around with loops and making everything sound cohesive!

With audio programs, making a song from scratch suddenly becomes really, really easy. Programs like GarageBand come with their own loop selection, but if you are using a different program, try downloading bass riffs or back beats and go to town! Or download beats from Youtube- wherever. The challenge is to make a song without recording anything yourself.
