Make Your Own Ringtone(s)

Hey. I hope everyone is doing good. Well I did another audio assignment called “Make Your Own Ringtone(s)“. This assignment didnt take too long. I just had to pick which song I wanted to do. Well I thought why dont I start the song with Hello and the end with Goodbye which I did. I took the song I just came to say Hello by Martin Solveig and Dragonette, I had to trim it alot to make the song flow properly in Audacity. I took Hello Goodbye by The Beatles (Yes I still listen to the Beatles). Then I exported the ringtone to soundcloud. Then I plugged in the wordpress code into my post and thats how I did it. I like this assignment.

I hope you liked it. :)

This makes 8 out of 10.

Ok so this is the second I did for the, “Make your own ringtone(s)“, from the DS106 Assignment Audio Bank. For this file which I also made using Audacity. This only involved one song, My Name Is, by Eminem. What I did was to copy out the part that repeats at the begin and attempt to add another loop at the end. This was not too difficult now since spending quite a bit of time practicing using the Audacity program.

Hello..Hello.. Pick up man

This short audio piece was made for the Audio Assignment, “Make Your Own Ringtone“. For this I assignment for some reason the Metro PCS tag, “Hello hello hello” just comes to mind after hearing it so many times, like at the end of this commercial. So for this I used 3 clips from 3 songs which obviously had in the word hello being sung. Those 3 songs were:

1. Karmin – Hello

2. Diddy Dirty Money – Hello Good Morning

3. Lionel Richie – Hello

The last video had me laughing, 80′s Lionel and that jheri curl. So I used Audacity for this assignment as well to copy out the parts I wanted to use from the files for the final product. With Audacity as a good free source program allows you to see the pitch of the sound one is using. So for this file I actually was going to put the Diddy part first but after seeing the height of the pitch for the Karmin song I decided to put it second and it actually sounded better having the Karmin to the Diddy to the Lionel.

My Own Ring Tone!

Sticking to my harry potter mood from my soundtrack assignment! Using Audacity, I extracted a ring tone from the waves of several songs and created what I believe to be an interesting ring tone that is not obviously from Harry Potter, with strong waves and interesting repeat! Test it out then Use it!

2 stars!

2 Stars: My Very own Ringtone

For 2 stars, I chose to do the assignment “Make your own Ringtone(s).”  It was a fairly open ended assignment.  All we had to do was choose a few audio files and string or piece them together using audacity to create an interesting sound for a ringtone.

I chose to use a few audio clips I took using snipmp3.com from the following youtube video.

Those guys crack me up.  Anyways, I took the audio files and imported them into audacity and then took out the clips I wanted to use.  From there, I used the change speed option on the middle clip in order to distort it and make it sound strange.  On another clip I used the change pitch do distort the audio.

8/10 Stars down.

My brand new RINGTONE

In the course of these past two weeks, we have been asked to complete at least 10 stars worth of Audio Assignments. The first assignment that I thought I would do, asked for us to create our own RINGTONE. I really wanted to do this assignment because I love my phone, but I never really deviate away from the standard ringtones … I think it takes too much time to download some and all of that stuff. I figured if I created my own ringtone, then maybe I would like it so much that I could use it on my phone….. getting tired of the typical “Xylophone” ringtone on my iPhone.

The process for making my own ringtone wasn’t that hard considering I already had Audacity downloaded on my computer from a previous assignment. Since I have already become familiarized with the how Audacity works, I simply imported a song that I had already downloaded onto my iTunes…. the song I chose was “Don’t wake me up” by Chris Brown. Once the song was imported it was easy for me to cut out the parts that I didn’t really want. I think I listened to the song about 10 times before finally deciding on the perfect part for my ringtone. When I finally did find my favorite part of the song I simply made sure it was under 40 seconds …. and that it sounded like a ringtone, at least one that I could hear and want to answer. After that was complete…. I exported the song onto my desktop, labeling it as “Don’t wake me up Ringtone” and then logged onto my Soundcloud and uploaded it there. The good news is that I actually liked my ringtone and have started using it as my OWN ringtone as of today!!! I didn’t realize how simple it would be to make my own ringtone, I’m sure now that I know it’s simplicity I will be making more and more ringtones as better songs that catch my eye come out.

This is how my ringtone turned out, I even enabled it for download incase someone wanted to use it as well. Enjoy!!

Spaceships

Make your own ringtone was the assignment I chose to do for this week audio assignments.  It wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be.  It was really difficult picking the exact moment of the song to have a nice introduction and ending to it.  Since I couldn’t find a nice break in the song to end it the way I wanted.. I did a little research and found out how to delete vocals from a song on audacity here.  The tutorial was really helpful, and it allowed me to delete the vocals from the last part of the song I used as my ring tone and it just ended with instrumental music. I also had to mess around with the effects of the song and found that fading in the beginning, and fading out the ending was very beneficial to the end result.  It was also very important to me to have a short ring tone because my phone is attached to my hand, so I answer it almost to quickly.

I chose Let’s Talk about Spaceships by Say Hi To Your Mom.  I think this song is so cute and simple, and I actually downloaded the file into my phone and it is now my ringtone! :) Gooodbyeeee lame iPhone standard ring tone, Helloooooo amazingness.

Worth 2 stars

Time is love Ringtone

One of the AudioAssignments I chose to do this week was called Make Your Own Ringtone(s) worth 2 stars.  I chose this because typical I purchase my ringtones and sometimes I cant find the exact part of the song I want for my ringtone so this was an awesome alternative.  I used Audacity to create the ringtone and used the song Time is Love by Josh Turner. I opened Audacity and went into the File tab and clicked on the new choice. I then clicked on the File tab again and scrolled down to the import selection then selected the Audio selection.  I went into my itunes playlist and selected Time is Love by Josh Turner.  I then listened to the song and selected the parts of the song I did not want in the ringtone and pressed delete on my computer keys and it removed those parts.  After editing the song, I went into the File tab and clicked export and labeled the file as Ringtone Time is Love.  I then opened up soundlcoud.com in a new internet browser and uploaded the song onto the internet.  I then tagged the song with the links JoshTurner, ds106, AudioAssignments152 and AudioAssignments and then saved them.

I then had soundcloud create a tweet about it…

#ds106 #joshturner Creating a ringtonehttp://soundcloud.com/astegemi/creating-a-ringtone … on#SoundCloud

I then went into my email and put the audio file into an email and emailed it to my phone to use the song as a ringtone!

Make Your Own Ringtone(S)

Using Audacity, trim, join end-to-end (cut/paste), and/or play side-by-side audio files in order to create your very own ringtone. Ringtones should be a maximum or 40 seconds to conserve phone memory (besides, most cell phones don’t ring longer than 30 seconds or so…the extra 10 seconds is just in case). Be creative, you might want to actually use it on your phone. Please properly cite all sources used — Remember, fair use requires money to use as a defense.

If you complete this assignment, share it! If you are signed up with a blog that feeds the main DS106 site just use the following tags when writing the post on your own blog to have your example added below. (You must use BOTH tags!):AudioAssignments, AudioAssignments152

Ring Ring

Make  your own ringtone

“Using Audacity, trim, join end-to-end (cut/paste), and/or play side-by-side audio files in order to create your very own ringtone. Ringtones should be a maximum or 40 seconds to conserve phone memory”

My ringtone is a clip of the usual telephone ring I got from freesound.org added to a section of the song “Everybody Talks.” I felt like the song was very appropriate for a ringtone. Usually my ringtone is solely a song, but for this project I felt like something needed to be added to solidify, or categorize it as a ringtone. I like how it starts out as a boring old ring, but then becomes a fun popular tune.

To make this ringtone I downloaded the ring from freesound and opened in it Audacity. Then I imported the song Everybody Talks from my iTunes. I listened and found my favorite section of the song, Cut that section and deleted the rest of the song. Then I added my selection to the end of the ringing sound, exported it and uploaded it to SoundCloud.
