Disney Lyric Mashup~

For this assignment, for 4 stars, I wanted to do a mashup of Disney lyrics combined into one song. I used four songs. I used “I’m Almost There” from Princess and the Frog, “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid, “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book, and “Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King. Here are the lyrics that I mashed up recording audio from Youtube and then putting the clips on Audacity.

“People down here think I’m crazy”

While we devotin’, full time to floatin, under the sea!”

“…. fonder of my big home. The bees are buzzin in the trees to make”

“our problem freeee, philosophyyyy, Hakuna Matata!”

After doing this, I clipped it down and then downloaded it from Audacity and uploaded it to Soundcloud. Under will be my embedded assignment.

Disney… Why not?

Who doesn’t love Disney to begin with? I grew up watching Disney and still love most of their movies. This assignment I created was Disney lyric mash up worth 4 stars. This was to take different Disney songs and sayings and mush them together to create something new. I really enjoyed this assignment and getting to play around with Disney songs never hurt. I decided to pick only songs that were around in the 80’s or came out during that time frame. The inspiration came from googling Disney songs in the 80’s and picking the ones I like the most or sayings.

I decided to use:

  • “Kiss a Girl” from Little Mermaid (’89)
  • “Under the Sea” Little Mermaid (’89)
  • Honey I Shrunk the Kids (’89)
  • “Best of Friends” Fox and the Hound (’81)
  • Popeye The sailor Man (’80)
  • I do not own any of the rights to these songs or words!

I spent probably more time than most on this assignment trying to make it perfect where people could tell where things were coming from but they were different enough that I don’t get in trouble with copyright. I think I did a good job with this mash up and got to learn even more about layering sounds in audacity and changing them around while listening the what I wanted them to sound like. I was able to make it 20 secs about without repeating the same order, I did repeat certain parts of different sounds throughout. I would use the envelope, and play around with different pitches, speeds, tempo, and other effects audacity has to offer. It was fun moving the sound around and coping certain ones to put on repeat. I also enjoyed finding Disney songs from the 80’s to use in this mash up.

Disney Song Mashup

This assignment was 4 of the 12 stars required from the Audio Assignments this week. It required me to make a mashup of popular Disney songs. The mashup didn’t have to make any logical sense, which mine definitely does not. I chose the song “Reflection” from Mulan (1998), “Evermore” from Beauty and the Beast (2017), “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas (1995), and “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana (2016).

I couldn’t figure out how to download songs from Youtube onto my computer and I also did not want to pay for them on iTunes. I decided to use the voice recording app on my iPhone to record the parts of the song I wanted and then uploaded them onto my computer. From there, I moved the audio clips to Audacity and began editing the songs to flow together. I then exported the final mp3 version onto my Soundcloud for anyone to listen to! This was a really fun assignment!

“Hey Magic Mirror, Play Me a Disney Mashup”

I have many obsessions in my life.

Harry Potter…Coffee…Dogs…AND DISNEY!!!

To give you some context of my love for Disney, here are some pictures I took from my family’s trip to Disney last year…

I may appear like I am a 21-year-old girl in these pictures but don’t be fooled, I am actually basically a 2 year old in my heart.

So when I saw that one of this week audio assignments involved Disney, I jumped at the chance.

This assignment tasked us with creating a story using the lyrics from various Disney songs. For example, if you start with “did they send me daughters when I asked for…,” from Mulan, you could follow it up with “happy snowmen!” from Frozen.

As I said, Disney holds a special place in my heart and when my academic side and my obsession with Disney can collide and collaborate, I will always go for it.

For this assignment, I decided to take songs from some of my favorite Disney movies and overlap them so that they flowed into one another. What this means is I let a song play and when the song hit a specific word that another song had, I then changed it so one song flowed immediately into the next to create this brand new mashup song! The song’s I used for my mashup were…

  1. “Go the Distance”- Hercules
  2. “How Far I’ll Go”- Moana
  3. “Let it Go”- Frozen
  4. “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”- Mary Poppins
  5. “Breaking Free”- High School Musical
  6. “Star to the Right”- Peter Pan

To create my ‘story’, I first downloaded all these songs from youtube and used a site to transfer them into audio files (***disclaimer I do not own the rights to any of these songs that belongs to my main man Walt Disney***).

Once I downloaded them into audio files, my next step was to cut and merge the audio files into one song. But let me tell ya, this part of the assignment was not all Disney love and magic….it was tough! But, for my love of Disney, I stuck with it. Usually, when I do a project like this, I use iMovie. But I got a new laptop this semester and it is an HP, so I no longer had access to iMovie and had to find another option for how to merge my songs. Luckily, after many Google searches and help from previous students who took this class, I learned about a couple of websites and apps where I could merge all of the songs and cut them into one audio file.

The first site I used was a audio merging site where I uploaded all of the audio files and merged them into one giant song. From there, I used an app I have never used before called Video and Audio Cutter and Converter. This app allows you to upload one piece of audio and cut it at various places until you are left with one audio file of the clipped song you want. To figure out where I had to clip the videos, I listened to each song and set time parameters for how long one song would play and another song would begin. After I did this for each song, it merged the clipped audio files to play one cohesive song. Then, I just uploaded my song to Soundcloud and shared it with the clas!

This assignment definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone a little bit. I have always relied on iMovie to create assignments like this in the past, but this assignment allowed me to explore other sites and apps out there that can create awesome audio files!

Disney Lyrics, but No Sense at All

The next assignment that I picked was a Disney one. The assignment was to take lyrics from different Disney movies and put them into a story. Luckily the assignment doesn’t have to make sense at all! This assignment gave me 4 stars.

“Ready to know what the people know, ask ’em my questions and get some answers”(Little Mermaid) The answer? “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, in the most delightful way.”(Mary Poppins) “And at last I see the light” (Tangled). “And the fears that once controlled me can’t get to me at all” (Frozen).  And now, ” I am on my way, I can go the distance. I don’t care how far, somehow I’ll be strong” (Hercules). “So prepare for a chance of a lifetime! Be prepared for sensational news! A shining new era is tiptoeing nearer” (The Lion King).

Honestly, I picked my favorite quotes out of movies and just put them together.

Poor Unfortunate Souls Mother Knows Best: Apocalyptic Disney

The audio assignment, Disney Lyric Mashup (four stars), required us to create a story using the lyrics from various Disney songs. It wasn’t a requirement for the lyrics or story to make sense. This semester’s course revolves around the apocalypse and at first, I was challenged because when you think of Disney you feel cheerful. The first movie I chose was the Hunchback of Notre Dame, my favorite movie. I knew that the context of the movie was at times dark and gloomy and that the song Hellfire would be perfect.

The next song I chose was Poor Unfortunate Souls from the Little Mermaid. I use this song twice in my audio clip towards the middle and end. The first short clip of Poor Unfortunate Souls is followed by Tangled’s Mother Knows Best. Then as I said before the clip ends with Ursula singing.

To make the audio file I uploaded to SoundCloud I had to use two websites because audacity doesn’t work on my laptop. The first site I used was YTMP3 where I could upload the links to videos of the songs I had found on Youtube and convert them into audio files. Then I was able to adjust the files to the desired length on an audio trimmer. After clipped each audio file I used the audio joiner to organize and merge the newly formed mp3 files.

Once Upon An… Apocalypse?

As another audio assignment from the assignment bank, I completed one that incorporates Disney and the apocalypse! I was immediately drawn to this assignment due to the fact that it had to do with Disney. Who isn’t excited by that?

So what did I have to do? Well, I needed to compile a recording that includes different Disney lyrics that are then put together to tell a story. This was definitely a challenge. For one thing, I haven’t watched a Disney movie in quite a while. However, if anyone asks Cinderella is my favorite.

The songs I used are as follows:

  1. “Let it Go” from Frozen
  2. “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid
  3. “Be Prepared” from The Lion King
  4. “In the Dark” of the Night from Anastasia
  5. “Savages” from Pocahontas
  6. “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan
  7. “Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King

The recording I ended up with in the end slightly reminded me of the movie I watched as an intro to video, The Road. It reminded me so much of this because the lyrics from “Let it Go” reminded me of how desolate and empty the world was for the man and the boy. I also felt that the song and the description of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” fit the man and the boy pretty well. They had nothing left except for each other. The rest of the lyrics from the other songs feel as though they fit The Road too because they had to protect one another and probably felt like this was all just one big nightmare. Let me know if you agree!

(I apologize for any choppiness in my recording. I could only cut so much without cutting too much.)

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THIS POST:

As I said above, I love Disney so much. I knew I wanted to do this assignment, but at the beginning, I was worried I would never be able to pull this assignment, of four stars, off, especially if I needed to relate it back to the apocalypse. After looking at some of my classmate’s submissions, I realized how I could do it! I went to YouTube and typed in “disney villain songs.” I got videos after videos, and even some playlists. I listened to and watched quite a few clips of Disney songs, and when I found a line I liked, I made sure to save the video. Then, I went to 4K Video Downloader, and downloaded the audio from each video. From there, I edited all of the music together in Audacity and once I was finished, I played it back and I really liked what the end result was/is. I also like the last clip of audio in my recording from “Hakuna Matata” in which Simba says, “Oh well… Hakuna Matata.” I just feel like that line sums up what people might feel during the apocalypse if they’ve had enough and have to stop worrying. What do you think? Let me know!

Disney Song Based Off World War Z??

I took up the challenge of creating a Disney medley story by taking lyrics from Disney songs and mashing them together to make a story. I based mine off a section in World War Z.

In the chapter “Blame”, at the Vostok Station in Antarctica, Breck Scott is a man who played on people’s fears to make millions of dollars. He thinks he is justified in every decision he made, saying he never fully lied and nothing was directly his fault, without regard to people’s livelihood. In his eyes, it is others’ fault if they are “too stupid” to avoid falling for his business.

The music I used, in order of appearance:

  1. Lion King Be Prepared Instrumental
  2. Lion King Be Prepared
  3. The Bells of Notre Dame
  4. The Elegant Captain Hook
  5. I’ve Got Friends on the Other Side from The Princess and the Frog
  6. Pocohantas’ Mine, Mine, Mine
  7. Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End

Creating the piece took a lot of time, both in getting the original music and editing it all together. Finding what exact lyrics I wanted was probably the toughest part. I ended up Googling “evil Disney character songs” and jumped around a bunch until I had a rough idea of how I was going to execute my vision. If I had unlimited time I could have kept this going, especially to do multiple different stories and styles!

Week Five Assignments

This Assignment is AudioAssignments, AudioAssignments70. I had to create a story by using five different sounds and no speaking. I chose to get my sounds from freesounds.org. I was able to then put the sounds in a video and use an app to convert the video to audio. The story is about a man who wakes up and knocks his phone off his bed. Then panics because it hit the ground, but is relieved to find it not cracked when he picks it up. This assignment is worth 3 and 1/2 stars.

This is AudioAssignment2120 and I had to create a convo using Disney Princess songs. I chose songs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas. The convo is “I’m Wishing- The Dream that you wish will come true- And for once it might be grand to have some one understand-You’ll learn things you never knew you never knew. Worth 3 stars.

This is my final assignment which is AudioAssignments2074. I made a mixtape of my pregame warm up jams. I made it as a downloadable movie because of fear of copy right. Also I used funny picture of my roommate! This was 4 stars.

Disney mix

I decided to put together the workaholic Heigh Ho from Snow White and the laid back Hakuna Matata from the Lion King. It came out better than I expected.
