Billie Jean vs. Uptown Funk

I recorded songs onto Quicktime from YouTube videos of Billie Jean and UpTown Funk. I converted the files to mp3 since they were saved as M4A files.

Then I uploaded them onto audicity. I didn’t like the first two minutes of both songs so I condensed it to only two minutes.

I uploaded the file to soundcloud but the link did not work after multiple tries.

The file is too big to upload into the blog media so I uploaded it on google drive, shared it with the link below.

Enjoy!

Mashup: Coldplay & The Neighborhood

From the assignment bank I chose to do a song mashup. For this assignment titled “Take any two songs (similar or not) and create a mash-up” I decided to take the song Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood and Too Late To Apologize by Coldplay and overlap them. This assignment was a little more challenging for me because I haven’t had experience with overlapping music but I found it to be simple after I watched a few videos on GarageBand. If you are using garage band you may record your audio and then select “File” “New Track” and record overtop of the original audio. Enjoy!

Blinding It

I had the most fun with this assignment. I found out about this great website from one of my fellow classmates Karsen’s mashup (thanks so much), Rave, and created a cool track that I think would be a great song to play in our radio show. The song I’m obsessed with right now and quite frankly get 80s or stranger things vibes is Blinding Lights by the Weeknd.

I then decided to mash it up with a Micheal Jackson song not only because he is a legend and one of my favorite artists of all time, but I always thought Micheal and The Weeknd sounded very alike. So I decided to use Beat It.

This was the easiest process I have ever done to mash up a song as I searched up the two songs and let Rave do its magic. Once I uploaded this track to youtube, I converted it into a MP4 file and viola! Loved the results. Hope you enjoy it!

1980s Song Mashup

For one of this weeks audio assignments, I chose to do Take Any Two Songs (Similar or Not) and Make A Mashup/Remix. I chose to do this assignment because song remixes and mashups are some of my favorite types of songs. I listen to remixes and mashups all the time on Youtube.

In accordance with our DS106 theme, I found two royalty-free 1980s-themed songs on youtube and used a website called rave.dj to mashup the two songs. After entering both links to the videos, the website rendered and completed the mashup. Here is my Twitter link to the website to listen to the mashup.

This assignment was a lot of fun. The fact that a computer program can use AI to perfectly mashup two songs is amazing. The knowledge I gained about computer music programs this assignment, I will remember for a very long time.

I Wanna Boujee With Somebody

This assignment asked me to combine two songs (similar or not) so I decided to incorporate our class theme and use ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ (I know I use this song a lot, its my favorite) with Migos’ ‘Bad and Boujee’. I used the Rave website and then an online video converter to convert it to an mp4 file to then upload to soundcloud. I really struggled how to create this but once figured out I am obsessed with doing it!!

Music Mashup

To complete the rest of my audio assignment stars I created a music mashup. I used GarageBand to create this assignment. I was hoping to use 80s songs but I was unable to complete the mash up with out music that I had purchased. I am hoping to find a way to somehow use some of this music to fill some background music or relate to 80s trends.

I did my best to have the tracks overlap in the most appropriate times and blend together smoothly.

Mashing It Up

For my last audio assignment I did Take Any Two Songs and Mashup/Remix! The assignment was to create a new mashup by combining any two songs you feel fitting for a mashup. Rated 4 Stars

I used the Glory of love from Karate kid and The psychedelic from Pretty in Pink. I first went to Youtube and then used a mp3 website to download the songs. I then imported in audacity. I edited the bass, treble, and volume. I was having many issues with embedding it, so I put the link above.

Mash up Songs

The final assignment for this week was the take two song and mash them up to create a remix. I picked 2 80’s songs for this and was able to mash them up and still have meaning and showing the importance of both songs for the children growing up. Love was a big thing and both songs I choose included love and not being shy with the other person. This assignment is worth 3 stars and I will hopefully be able to use it for my radio show as well.

I decided to go with Kiss the Girl from the Little Mermaid and Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. I downloaded both songs from youtube using a converter to MP3 files software then uploaded them to Audacity. Then the fun of editing began where I took pieces of the Dirty Dancing song and inserted them into the Mermaid song. I adjusted the sound by pitch, speed, volume, and fading mostly. After I inserted the clips I wanted I used the extra clips as another layer to the song inserting them where it made the most sense. Finally I was able to use the Dirty Dancing song as background music to the other one and clips. It had a lot going on, but it sounded good when I was finished so I’m pretty happy with it.

I am using both songs because both movies are from the 80’s with fun and important messages. They are both childhood favorites of mine so I figured why not mash them up.

I am really happy with how this mash up turned out. It sounds good while still being able to use it in my radio show or at least a clip from it. I am excited to see what next week brings for sounds towards the show.

Sweet Dreams vs Take On Me

For this assignment I mixed a slow version of Sweet Dreams and a fast version of Take On Me together. I created to voice memos and then combined them into GarageBand. Then, I created an iTunes file to upload into SoundCloud.

Mashing Up Baby

Create a new mashup by combining any two songs you feel fitting for a mashup! You would be surprised at some of the results!Below I completed this assignment by mashing Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” with Letting Go (a popular electro song back from 2011) http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/take-any-two-songs-similar-or-not-and-create-a-mashupremix/ The Work Itself: I did a mash-up of Post Malones –…
