One Thing by One Direction here…. Redone! Chipmunk Style! This really isn’t too terribly difficult to do. The first thing I did was to make sure I had the One Thing file on my computer so that I could import it into Audacity. Audacity is a pretty cool audio editing software, which I’m sure many of you used for your Radio shows! Anyways after making sure it was on my computer, I opened it up by clicking “File” and then going down to “Import” where I then chose the file I desired. After you do this it opens the track up in Audacity as just a one level track. In order to get a Chipmunk effect I highlighted the entire song and then went to “Effects”. If you look through the list you should see things like “Change Pitch”, “Change Tempo”, “Change Speed” etc, etc. I wanted to change my pitch to make it higher, which is how I got them to sound like Chipmunks.
I always enjoyed here Alvin and the gang so I thought, why not try my hand at this. I really have taken a liking to Audacity even though it can be a bugger at times. This was a good opportunity to use the software for a new purpose, which I really enjoyed.

I chose the song Danza Kuduro by Don Omar for this assignment.  I like it because its just a really catchy party kinda song.  I used Virtual Dj to speed up the pace to give it the chipmonk sound.  It was pretty fun using it, my friend had showed me the software before but I had never used it until now.  Once I finished with the assignment I played around with some of the other features and found it to be extremely enjoyable, I’ve gotta say I’m a regular Avicii or Tiesto

This assignment was relatively easy for me to do. I used this as a guide and it made the assignment a lot smoother, so thanks  Chanda!

I imported the track into Audacity, because sadly, I own the track (hahah, but I love Andy Samberg and the gang). I then tried to change the pitch and tempo myself. That failed. I did as Chanda suggested and changed only the pitch to 110…GOLD! I played it and it sounded definitely chipmunk-ified.

How did I pick my track? Well, I knew I wanted to do a Lonely Island song, because I am a huge SNL fan, and what’s funnier than a little dirty humor in a chipmunk voice. I was going to do the one, I Just Had Sex, featuring Akon, which is a hilarious music video, see here:

But I thought I needed to make it more appropriate, so I chose the Creep, featuring none other than Ms. Nicki Minaj!

I love the lonely island because they are so talented and so good at writing songs that challenge the way we think about song lyrics and toeing the line of appropriateness. SNL gave them a great platform and they are just so daggone creative, that I’m jealous!

This assignment was worth 3 stars: 6 stars for the week so far.

I used the program Audacity to change the speed of the song. I used the song EARTHQUAKE by Labrinth ft. Tinie Tempah. I didn’t have much trouble figuring out how to change the speed because I am used to using Audacity now. When I was done changing the sound it made me laugh because the song sounds funny. It was fun to change the sound of the artist’s voice to chipmunks!!

For this 3 star assignment, we had to take an artist and make them sound like the famous chipmunks. As soon as I saw this assignment, I was excited to do it, because I loved the Alvin and chipmunks songs as a kid. I chose to recreate the song, One More Night, by Maroon 5. I created this new track in the program Audacity. I recorded the track onto Audacity and then went to > Effects, >Change Speed. Here I messed with the speed making Adam Levine’s voice into a chipmunk.

This is 3 stars? I guess I shouldn’t complain.  I got a kick out of this assignment.  Mind you, I couldn’t listen to the track I made for more than a minute before my tolerance for the high pitch was gone, but it sounded hilarious none-the-less.

Anyways, this was the “Mainstream Chipmunk’d” assignment from the audio assignments repository.  The goal was to give a mainstream artist or song a high pitched voice that sounded reminiscent of Alvin and the Chipmunks.  So, I downloaded his real song using keepvid.com into an mp3 and then used audacity to change the pitch to an A level.  Real easy.
