My Jingle Jangle for One of My Favorite Products

This assignment really, really pushed my creative boundaries and musical abilities. I am not musically inclined nor do I play any instruments or sing on a regular basis and when I do sing, people usually ask me to stop. But, this audio assignment appealed to me because it allowed me to express my creativity. In order to complete the assignment I had to follow the prompt. First, I had to choose one of my favorite products for the jingle to be about. So, for my product I chose my iphone. It is not my absolute favorite item/product but it is extremely useful to me and provides me with a range of abilities I would not have access to otherwise.  As such, my iphone has capabilities that I use on a daily basis for example, when I need to search something quickly or contact someone. Next, I created my script for my jingle. The words I chose were based on the aspects of my phone I use the most and why it is such a great product. For example, I use the map on my phone almost daily for directions, I text friends and family as a form of contact, and I take lots of pictures and videos. Once I had my script, I tried to make it more of a rap jingle (but definitely not the best rap jingle because my musical skills are not that great—but you will probably get a good laugh). So, I used soundcloud to record my jingle and I added a beat type music for the background. Overall, I feel that this assignment really pushed my creative boundaries and taught me how to place background music behind lyrics in a recording. It also showed me that different forms of media (such as soundcloud) and certain products (my iphone) can combine together to form and share new media such as songs.

My script for my iphone jingle:

Hey, Hey my iphone is so cool.

But you can’t use it if you are some fool.

It lets me surf the net, while I text all the friends I have met.

I can download fun apps and when I get lost use the interactive map.

The videos and photos it lets me take allows me to capture memories that aren’t so fake.

With my iphone’s amazing capabilities, it helps me succeed, lead, and achieve.

And mix and fix all the new media for this course ds106.

Final Project: Jingle Jangle for Prez Obama

For the Jingle Jangle assignment,I created a jingle for President Obama as a super hero. The lyrics are “He’s runnin’ round the White House, quiet as a mouse, Stoppin’ crime, in his extra time, Michelle doesn’t know about this, but you bet stoppin’ sexism in on his list”.
Yeah I know. Good stuff, right?

Anywho, I recorded myself “singing” this and then I sang “It’s President Obama!” and changed the pitch on it and added an echo. Then, I downloaded this sound from free sound.

This is what I imagine President Obama sneaking around the White House to while he runs off to do his super hero job on the side.
In his fancy red cape.

Double Stuffed Peanut Butter Oreos Jingle

For the audio assignment Jingle Jangle, I was required to come up with a jingle for one of my favorite products. Double Stuffed Peanut Butter Oreos are truly the greatest things you will ever put into your mouth. Their mouth watering sensation of creamy peanut butter goodness melts in you mouth, especially if you dip them in a cold glass of milk and allow them to get soft and moist. Thus, I used my gift of rhyme, put on my country draw, and rehearsed a jingle that is one for the ages on Audacity and uploaded it to SoundCloud so my whole class can hear about the miracle that is Double Stuffed Peanut Butter Oreos.

Rice and Beans

So for our radio show, my group and I created a world in post-zombie-apocalypse. You should seriously check it out. But that’s a separate post.

When I stumbled across this assignment, I had the idea of trying to create something I could make a commercial for that wouldn’t infringe on any existing copyrights. I started to think about something ridiculous that might get capitalized on in a post-apocalypse world, if that was even possible. I decided that if someone made a product that combined two basic staples that are usually eaten together anyway, and made them quick and easy to prepare, it would sell like hotcakes. :)

So that’s the premise behind this. Major props to my hubby for helping me out on the guitar.

We didn’t end up needing my commercial, but I was already planning on using this for some of my audio assignment points for the week anyway, so here it is. :)   Enjoy?

This assignment was worth 3 Stars.

I can’t believe we actually did this. :P

Jingle Jangle – The Perfect Cream!

Here is a little Jingle I made about a cream that would work for EVERY problem! Literally!

For this assignment I first wrote out a little jingle about this imaginary cream that could basically be used to cure/fix any problem. I then recorded myself singing my Jingle on SoundCloud and uploaded it on my profile.

Jingle Jangle: Bath and Body Works Soap

Here is my lovely Jingle Jangle about Bath and Body Works soap. I got one of the fall scents for super cheap and it smells wonderful. What can I say. So to make this, I sang my little “jingle,” then I found some piano to go along with it on Freesound.org (surprisingly, this one is Silent Night) and then I made it echo quite a bit and then I changed the speed to like 25% faster.
I think it sounds Jingley.

Jingle

As a surf instructor I’m in the water all summer. Some days the currents is so strong it is extremely tiring to swim. Surf fins are really helpful on these days. I have a pair made by a company called Viper. This summer a local surfer came and decided he’d but my small flippers on his big feet. (haha don’t worry we’re friends). Yes, they did break. But, I emailed the company, told them what happened, and they sent me a new pair! How rad is that!? Of course, I am now a Viper Advocate!!  So, when I saw the assignment to write a jingle about on of our favorite products I knew what to do. I used my off the chain rhyming skills and conjured up this jingle.

Remix #2 (Audio): Jingle Jangle

I have to admit, I love mixing audio into a video file.  It’s one of my favorite things to do.  Finding the perfect song that matches the mood of an image – purely delicious.  That’s why this project challenged me to tell my tale with just my voice and music.  I decided to keep the subject of my audio recording something easy and fun to tell, so I chose to write a short intro to my new puppies transition from pound puppy to princess.  Her favorite music is Adele; In fact we play Adele to calm her down when she is puppy wild.  The two meshed well together, even if my voice sounds wickedly horrible lowered so many octaves!

Jordan Voice Over

I’ll post my how-to in another blog – stay tuned!
