“Take some of your old magazines and newspapers and create a 2D or 3D collage/sculpture of words and pictures that represent a common theme (ex: color, media subject such as animals or food, things you like, etc.). Explain why you chose your theme and what some of the individual pieces mean to you.”

For the 3d Magazine Collage, i made the U collage of my hobbies. One may ask what a U stand for. To me, letter U stand for two important things. Number one, my name starts with U, and second when type word Universe, it also start with U. I’m big fan of Universe. Yes, there is a picture of an alien on my collage. Remarkably, our existence itself is the evidence that there are also other forms of life or probably intelligence life exist somewhere in the observable universe. The question is, are we ready to admit this undeniable fact? Im a huge fan of astro physics, after finishing my bachelor in Computer Science, I will earn my masters in Physics, and earn a doctorate in Astro Physics.

Now, lets talk about how i actually made this assignment. In order to do this assignment, i took a cardboard and sharpie. With sharpie, I drew a U shape on the cardboard. Next, I cut the U shape off the card board. Then i went to my photo collection of my hobbies, and cut some of the photos to posted on my U shape. Finally, i glued the photos to my U shape. After i finish with all of these steps, i took a snapshot of my U collage using my smartphone.

Love to Fish

I created a 3D Magazine Collage of my favorite hobby…fishing! Everything you see on my fish are necessary for a successful fishing trip! The lures and weights, dock ropes, my boat and fishing poles, GPS, and of course a cooler for all those yummy Rockfish I like to catch! A few years ago I decided I needed to get as many lines in the water at one time as I could, while I troll along the river. Keep in mind that I’m a one man band when it comes to fishing, my kids are still too young and my wife is not a fan! So I began making planer boards, they are designed to be launched from the boat and cover more area away from the side of the boat. Letting me put more lines in the water to potentially catch more fish! Sometimes it’s successful and sometimes it isn’t! That’s fishing!

I began with a piece of cardboard that I cut into the shape of a fish, then I balled up paper to give it a 3D look. With the help of my kids, we tore through the Bass Pro Shops magazine and cut out my favorite images of fishing. Then the fun part began, placing those images all over my fish.

3D Magazine Collage

For this assignment (worth 4 stars), we were asked to create either a 3D or 2D collage/sculpture that represents a common theme.

I chose this assignment because I thought it would be fun to make collages like I did back in the day.  I use to collage all of the time as a child.  It was nice to bring that side of me back again and especially if I could do it for a class.

To do this, I used cardboard, I cut up from a box, and taped it into a V with white duct tape.  I had just recently used the cardboard to paint a letter for my room.  The V was outlined in paint and I thought it would be a good idea to use it as my base for this project.

I used my old Seventeen Magazine subscriptions to make the collage.  My inspiration for it were the different styles of clothes women wear.  From athletic clothes to fancy skirts, there are so many types of clothes that make women happy.    IMG_0941
