“Create a brand new animal, using animal parts from no less than 4 animals. Be creative! When you animal is designed, create an environment for it!”
Have you ever thought about creating your own animal? Well, I have and it was back when I was in my sophomore year in high school. His name is Mason the Kadusquidithon and he is one of a kind! Mason is something I came up with while I was bored in my Drivers Education class. I could not tell you exactly how he came about, as I just drew this figure. I showed my friend at the time and we decided to turn it into something based on its various body parts. So, let me break Mason down for you.
Mason is a Kadusquidithon, made up of four different animals.
- Kangaroo – his pouch and ears
- Duck – his feet
- Squirrel – his bushy tail
- “Dithon” – I’d like to think this is the ending of a type of dinosaur, so naturally, his fourth part is his arms which represent the dino in him.
Mason has stuck with me ever since that day in high school. His name is Mason simply because I liked the name and he is the only kind of his species. Mason is very friendly and lives in the grasslands of Pennsylvania, where I am from. He roams the farms and mountains as he pleases and is welcome by everyone. Because he is the only one of his kind, he will live forever to ensure his species does not go extinct.
For this assignment, “Design Your Dream Animal,” I drew out Mason and uploaded him to my computer. Then, I used Unsplash to find a picture of mountainous grasslands that may represent a more rural area of Pennsylvania, like the town I am from. After I found a photo, I used Photo Editor PixelStyle on my computer to place Mason in his habitat. Though I had already found a third assignment from the bank I had planned on doing, I came across this one and the opportunity was just too perfect to pass up. I have been drawing Mason for six years and it was finally his time to shine. Thoughts? Questions? Leave them below!
