One Archetype, Five Movies, Five Seconds

Here is my entry for the One Archetype, Five Movies, Five Seconds assignments. It’s a bit more than five seconds, but the idea is there. I was appointed to create a video personifying five James Bond actors. So I made a video surrounding a few common words they all seem to say at some point. I think you can guess what they are. Enjoy!

Movie Character Answering Machine

Here is the movie character answering machine assignment. Its Beavis of Beavis and Butthead in case you couldn’t figure it out. I used my soundcloud application on my iphone to record it.

The Voice

This is a recording of myself, trying to imitate Don LaFontaine aka “The Voice”, and failing.

Theme Verse

Here is the theme verse assignment. I opted to do this since much of the music I listen to somehow shared a common theme. The first couple of clips are from Periphery, a groove metal band; the last song is by Selena.

Can I Take Your Order?

Here is a quick recording I did trying to imitate a man from the south ordering a cheeseburger. I’m clearly not from the the south; but it’s a viable attempt. Enjoy!

The Contest Nobody Could Win

Can you guess the six songs in the clip? Doubt it. I used Ableton Live 8 to create the clip and just split each track to a little less than a second and compressed them together. Good Luck!

Song Style Mashup

There are a lot of people doing song mashups nowadays, so I just thought I’d completely butcher a Rihanna song…just for kicks. I decided to use the song “Rude Boy”. I found the acapella online and simply dragged it into Ableton Live 8. I recorded and double tracked the guitars to widen the sound and added a bass and drum track to fill the mix. The sound turned out ok; but I really just wanted to do something unexpected. Enjoy!

Imitating Weather

Here is my attempt at imitating a thunder storm using objects within my “reach”. Being that my desk is surrounded by instruments, I had access to a plethora of interesting sounds. I used an odd instrument that I bought at an African store that produces a “droplet” type of sound for the rain. Then, I used paper that I slapped against the microphone to produce the thunder-like sound. I added some post-reverb to everything to fill the empty spaces. The recording program I used to master everything was Ableton Live 8. Hope you enjoy!

Song Story

Here is my “Song Story”. I illustrate the times my father and I spent driving listening to this song, “Resollution” by Eric Johnson, usually on our way to his studio in Long Island. It brings back great memories everytime I hear it.

More RAW Photography

Here is a RAW photo I edited of my girlfriend, Alanna; using Photoshop Elements 8. I was going for an HDR feel without actually using HDR software; boosting the saturation and noise levels. Also, increasing the shadow levels helped to give the photo some extra depth. Overall, I’m happy the way it turned out.
