Emoji Mashup

For this assignment you are to take a picture of one of your friends or just a person that is in the moment doing something exactly like an emoji and then mash them together for comparison.

I chose this 4 star assignment because it seemed very simple to do. To start it, I went on Facebook and found a picture from my profile in which I thought someone looked like an emoji. Instead of choosing the emoji first, I looked for photos that had the expression of an emoji I’ve seen and decided to go with this picture:

scared emoji

Which immediately made me think of this emoji:

face-screaming-in-fear

So I opened up Microsoft Paint and cropped the photo so it most represented the emoji:

Capture

Then I pasted the picture of the emoji next to the picture above in Microsoft Paint and created the mashup:

Video Game Cover Mashup

Call of Duty; Smash Bros Edition! Fun for all ages! Bring back your childhood and play with one of the famous Mario characters or join the future and enjoy this first person shooter with plenty of exciting action and gore. I thought this would be great idea because the new “Call of Duty; Black ops 3” had just came out and I’ve been playing it non-stop. But I wanted to take this serious first person shooter and turn it into something funny and a bit more childish. So I mashed the two titles together, Call of Duty and Super Smash Bros 4. I took a game that I used to play all the time when I was younger, and mixed it with a game that I play now. I took a picture of the call of duty cover off of google, then used a picture editor on my phone to crop, each of the Smash Bros characters out and simply added them to the cover in places that matched up perfectly. After I just saved it to my phone and uploaded it to Flickr. Here is a screenshot of me editing the picture on the app.

This Doesn’t Belong Here

This assignment was to take a scene from a movie and insert something that clearly is not supposed to be there. So I thought about one of my favorite movies “Coach Carter”, and since it is such a serious movie and the fact that is a true story. I thought it would be perfect and pretty funny to make it kind of a joke.

This specific scene is Coach Carter meeting his players for the first time, introducing himself and letting them know all the rules and guidelines that they need to follow. Laying down the law, and making sure everyone is on the same page.

So I decided to take a couple characters from the Minions movie and threw them in there as if they were also listening to the coach speak to the players. One of them taking some notes down, while the other is interrupting with questions.

To complete this assignment I found the picture of the scene on google, for the two minions I found their pictures on google also but I had to crop them from out of their pictures because it had  backgrounds that simply wouldn’t go well with this movie. Then I used an online picture editor (piZap.com) to edit the two pictures together and put the two minions in their places. Them simply saved it to my computer when I was finished.

One Photo A Day

For this mashup assignment I had to take one selfie everyday and combine them into a video. I decided to take up the part of my host character because I don’t typically dress nicely everyday and since she has a job she would look nice everyday. So here is my video of Eve Winters taking a picture a day.

I really enjoyed this assignment because for a second week in a row I got to portray my host character everyday. I love taking up the part of my host character because it is something different from my usual day and it allows me to be more creative.

Game Of Spooksy (MashupAssignments544 3.5 Stars)

This assignment should be worth waaaay more than 3.5 stars!  It’s tough to get the words and mouth movements to sync up!  I thought about using a cartoon, because they use the same five or six generic mouth positions for everything to make it easier for people to talk over, but that seemed a little too safe.  Originally, I had attempted a two person portion of this conversation between Peter and Sansa, but that was a bit beyond my ability, so I scaled it back to just Peter talking.  It’s not perfect.  I’ll be the first to admit there are a couple rough spots, but trying to write a script based on mouth movements is a legitimately difficult task.  However, I learned a lot doing this assignment, and I went way out of my comfort zone.  This is the first time I’ve pulled a title card and music from an intro and re-purposed it, which I think came out well, and I did my best to overlay the ambiance of the scene with my own vocals, which seemed to go pretty well.  I can definitely see room for improvement, but I think this is a solid attempt at something I’ve never really done before, and I’m not unhappy with it.  That being said, I’ll probably look for similar assignments in the future to get some more practice in.

Sheldon Cooper Bazinga Moments

The first, and most important, step to complete this assignment is to download Windows Movie Maker, or another video editing software of your choice. Once you have downloaded this, or another, software you can start brainstorming the character you want to do your assignment on and what scenes from the show you want to use. Once you have downloaded Windows Movie Maker, or another editing software, you will want to open your program and familiarize yourself with what it looks like.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 1

I decided to do my assignment on the great Sheldon Cooper and I wanted to specifically use any scene where he makes a joke. He always says the word “bazinga” when he makes a joke so I wanted to focus on when he says bazinga. I then went on YouTube to find scenes where Sheldon uses bazinga to make a joke. You can use any other means to get the scenes you want to use but I used YouTube because it was easier for me. I then found the video clips I wanted to use and downloaded them to my computer. Once I had downloaded everything I wanted to use I imported them into Windows Movie Maker by clicking the add videos and photos button pictured below.

Once you have imported all of your clips, they will be displayed in the section on the right of your screen, as shown below.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 3

You will then want to organize your clips into the right order. You can do this by clicking and dragging the clips where you want them. Once they are organized the way you want them to be you can be done with the assignment. However, I needed to cut some parts out of my clips so the movie flowed better. You can split clips by selecting where you want to split the clip and clicking the split button in the edit toolbar, as shown below.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 4

You can then select the newly created clip and delete it. You can split your clips and reorganize them until your clips flow seamlessly. You can also add a theme which will let you put a title frame at the beginning of your movie. You can choose your theme from the AutoMovie themes section on the home toolbar, as shown below.

Mashup Tutorial Picture 5

You should end up with a project that looks like the picture below. You will then want to save your project (in case you want to go back and change something later) and then save your movie. Both of these options can be found under the file menu pictured below.

I hope your assignment turned out well and you can check out my completed assignment below:

Star Wars Attacks! (MashupAssignments1511 3.5 Stars)

Star Wars Attacks

I had originally wanted to do ET coming out of one of the spaceships from independence day, but I couldn’t find the right images to make it work.  I saw that a lot of folks were doing Star Wars, and I know they have another movie coming out soon, so I figured the stock photos would abound.  After I found the image you see here, I had to find an alien to add to it.  Star Wars is a pretty diverse galaxy, so pretty much anything would work.  I typed alien with a cloak, and this is one of the guys that popped up.  He is the head alien from Mars Attacks!, a really great comedy staring Lesilie Nealson.  It was a makeup test picture I beleave, so he was standing against a monotone backdrop, it was easy to remove with paint.NET’s magic wand, and the rest is history, as Star Wars Attacks!

Leonidas Is A Jerk (Mashup Assignments1520 3 Stars)

I chose to mash up scenes of Leonidas from the movie 300 that made him look like a jerk.  I re-watched the movie again recently, and I noticed that Leonidas was a very one dimensional character.  He has no flaws, he never does anything wrong or questionable, he’s just a mans man, a good husband, a noble leader, and blah blah blah blah.  So I decided I wanted to make a highlight reel of some of his jerkiest moments and try to paint him in a different light.

I already had the movie in digital format, so I just converted it to mp4 and loaded it in movie maker.  I watched the movie and picked out parts I thought would suit the video, then I cut the video down to those clips, used music and effects from different parts of the movie, and made this little baby right here.  My favorite part is the twinkly eyes (serious Leonidas eyes shot with little twinkly sound from a different part of the movie).

Trek Wars Mashup

For this mashup assignment I had to mashup two iconic movie franchises. I chose my favorite two franchises Star Trek and Star Wars.

Trek Wars

In this picture Captain Kirk is helping the Jedis fight Count Dooku’s droid army on Geonosis. I chose this scene because the Jedi are trapped in a circle and there was a perfect spot open for another character to join the circle. So I found a picture of Captain James T. Kirk with a phaser, cut him out of his original scene, and added him to this scene. I really enjoyed this assignment because I got the idea while I was re-watching all of the Star Wars movies (so I can prepare myself for The Force Awakens). I saw this part in episode II and knew Kirk would fit perfectly into it.

Talky Tina Head Swap

For this mashup assignment I had to put Talky Tina’s head on something else. I decided to go with a popular meme:

Talky Tina Mashup

This assignment was tough because I didn’t know what I wanted to put Talky Tina’s head on. I asked my roommates and they pointed me towards memes and I eventually thought of this one. It is perfect because I was able to change the ending to “Talky Tina is coming” which is pretty creepy. Overall I enjoyed making this assignment but was frustrated with it until I thought of what I wanted to do.
