Blue White Red Insight

A mashup from the trailers of the trilogy “The three colors Blue White Red”.

This trilogy is meant to be about love and loss, which I can agree with. Still, it is also a lot about watching people’s privacy and coming nearer to some, maybe unpleasant, truth. This I tried to catch in my trailer version.

I took several clips from the three trailers and combined them like I thought they will convey my interpretation of the three films. I further worked on the colors of the clips, which was a bit annoying for you can not choose multiple clips in premiere elements to edit them together, but finally I reached what I’ve imagined earlier.

For the sound I worked on the volume of the clips and mixed the different soundtracks from the different trailers, so that here and there the audio sounds discordant. This way I tried to emphasize that it is about the unpleasant experience to find out an inconvenient truth.

I did not feel very sure of how to create a mashup, when I started the editing, but I now have an idea of what it means to mash up different video content and maybe my next mashup will be already very artistic and skilful. Yet, I like the result, which gives me the feeling of having brought a piece of my inner world into the outside, while the original trailers didn’t show anything of this. How does this work?

Toy Story MashUp

This is 4 star mash up assignment “Ben Harwood’s Track blazing troubadour” it is mash-up assignment 135. The assignment read:

“Make a movie trailer by taking a trilogy, or any series of movies (LOTR, Saw, Final Destination etc.) and combine scenes from all the trailers to make one trailer…”

I chose to use Toy Story, I found a trailer for each movie and mashed them all up together. (Media used: Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3)

I used a few small clips from each trailer to create my own trailer! In my new trailer the story line is a little different. . .

While Andy and his friends are downstairs all of Andy’s toys are watching TV. The toy soldiers are on the lookout for intruders and warn the other toys when Andy is coming upstairs. Then all the toys become lifeless again. UNTIL Woody is toy napped! All of the toys go on an adventure to find and rescue Woody. They rescue him, but when they return they find out Andy is all grown up and leaving for college soon. Andy’s mom asks him want he wants to do with all of his toys, he has a flashback of when he was younger playing with his toys. Although Andy is very attached to his toys, he knows he doesn’t need them. He donates them to a daycare where they are violated. The end.

I used Windows movie maker to create this. I watched each trailer a few times and then I began trying out different clips in different orders, I didn’t go in with a plan. I just figured out what I wanted and didn’t want as a created the mash up. I think it came out pretty well, there are a few areas where the editing skills could have been a bit sharper. But I am content with the way it came out.

I wonder why they have so many Toy Story movies, I like them all rolled together better!

Mashup Assignments

Ben Harwood’s Track Blazing Troubadour

The purpose of this assignment was to make a movie trailer by taking a trilogy or any series of movies; and combine scenes from all the trailers to make one trailer.  Therefore, I chose the Fast and the Furious series one, two and three trailers; which were The fast and the Furious, Fast and Furious 4 and Fast Five.

I downloaded the trailers from YouTube with PwnYouTube . Afterword, I selected the scenes I wanted in my trailer; using MPEG Streamclip .

On the other hand, I used Windows Live movie make for editing the video. I wanted to create one story by combing all the three trailers therefore; I chose my scenes very carefully. I also used some cue cards to better tell the story to the audience who have never watched any of those series. I also put background music to the video to make it more interesting; the background music was downloaded from YouTube .

The Fast and The Furious series:

I really enjoyed doing this assignment and I found it very interesting to do. This assignment requires a lot of time and effort; since it is important to consider the video aspects, sounds, dialogues and combining them in a way to create a story.

X-Men Triology Mashup

X-Men Trilogy Mashup

My Assignment was making a movie trailer by taking a trilogy, or any series of movies and combine scenes from all the trailers to make one trailer…

Mashing Twilight all together now!

So for this assignment we had to find a sequence of movies and mash scenes from each movie to make into one trailer. It was easy for me to figure out which movies I wanted to do…..Twilight! Because like I have mentioned before I do love Twilight, yes I realize it is very corny. Anyways, I went on Youtube to find different scenes from each of the films. Once I did so I uploaded each Youtube clip onto MPEG Streamclip where I edited them down to size. Once that was accomplished I uploaded each edited clip onto Windows Movie Maker and edited it down to size a little more so that the movie would flow better. I then added a credits slide and uploaded it to Youtube and I was done!

Star Wars Trilogy Mashup!

For my trilogy trailer mashup, I used Star Wars, Episode I, II, and III, mostly focusing on the transformation of Anakin to the dark side. I spent a substantial amount of time editing this and I believe it turned out pretty well. One of the biggest challanges was to get everything to flow nicely as I cut, mixed, and added footage from the three movies. Another huge challenge was to get the dialogue flowing nicely and having other footage overlaying dialogue (if you had a chance to look at my audio tracks, it was a mess!). Overall, I still kept it in a chronological order, however mixed footage up to make each episode flow nicely into the next. I used alot of blending techniques as well as audio layers to give it the effect of one trailer playing throughout. I also inlcuded some foreshadowing footage from Episode III in the beginning of the trailer, from when Anakin was just a child. Nonetheless, having the audio sync in well was actually the biggest challenge overall. Finally, in the end, I showed the overall before and after transformation of Anakin to conlude the trailer.

Up for an Indiana Jones marathon?

The Indiana Jones movies are just classic and are definitely up there on my Top Movies list. So for the Trilogy Trailer Montage assignment I decided to do the first three Indiana Jones movies. At first I was going to include the fourth one, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (trailer here if you haven’t seen it) but in the end I decided not to, for two reasons.

One, it really doesn’t fit in with the themes of the other movies quite as well. A lot of people hate the movie entirely for its more science-fiction aspect. Two…I couldn’t find any decent clips that I really liked. So that was enough to kick it out of my project.

So this mashup trailer includes the first three movies: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Temple of Doom, and the Last Crusade. I tried my best to make it seem like Indy was going on all three adventures in one movie. I realize that the Temple of Doom actually occurs first chronologically, but since most people think of it as the second movie in the trilogy, I just left it as second.

I had to use Audacity a lot to edit a few sound tracks to cover up the silent areas during the text slides, as well as other scenes that I cropped out but still wanted to continue the music. That was definitely the hardest part, getting my music clip to match up with the trailer clip. I think I did okay though.

I used iMovie for the rest of the project.

And now I am going to go watch at least one of these movies to satisfy my sudden craving for Indiana Jones…

I Present to you…

….. my final DS106 video project.

I had previously decided to do the Movie Trailer Mashup, but the idea of putting together scenes from a series of the same movie intrigued me even more. So what I’ve done is taken the 5 trailers of the Final Destinations movies, took scenes from the trailers and put together one trailer, and added the Saw theme music in the background. I was definitely trying to give it the epic look. I then submitted this type of assignment on the DS106 website. This took time and effort, and was definitely challenging. Windows Movie Maker/Windows Live Movie Maker… -___- . Just frustrating, not many editing options, but I put my mind to it and got it done! I also had a tough time because I accidently saved it as a WLMP file, which didnt work and I thought my hours of editing had gone to waste, but some helps from friends and some googling around did the trick. I really hope you guys like. Feel free to comment.

Without much further ado:
