Mashing Friends and Emojis…

This is one of those assignments that I saw and just knew I had to do. I was looking at all the remix assignment options and decided that it might be kind of fun to remix one of my friends and create them as an emoji… so here we are. This is my best friend and roommate Rosemary, who is also a former ds106er. The cowboy hat is an ongoing joke between the two of us and the fact that we are both from southern towns so this is where my inspiration came from. I decided to compare her to the smiley cowboy emoji because of this and the way that when she is in a hat she is always smiling. Here is my interpretation of a remix between a friend and an emoji. This mashup assignment was worth 4 points. Hope you enjoy!!

Emoji Friends

For my first mash up of the week. I decided to do a friend and emoji mash up. As I was scrolling through the assignment bank, this one looked pretty fun. I asked three of my friends if they would be willing to help me with this assignment. I let them choose an emoji and then they tried to mimic the emoji as I took their picture. I then went onto google and downloaded a photo of the emoji. I used a photo editor app called Pic Collage to put the pictures of my friends next to their corresponding emojis. This was a really fun assignment. One day I want to try to remake all of the emojis. I think it would be cool to make a grid of all the emojis but with me trying to make all the different faces.

you look just like this emoji

For this assignment you are to take a picture of one of your friends or just a person that is in the moment doing something exactly like an emoji and then mash them together for comparison.

For this emoji mashup assignment, I had to to take a picture of someone posing like an emoji. I recruited my boyfriend for help on this one. He makes a lot of funny faces normally, so I didn’t think this assignment would be too hard for him. He chose to do the one making a thinking or confused face. After he took the picture I uploaded it, and a picture of the actual emoji, to Pixlr and put them side by side to make it easy to compare. I uploaded it to Flickr then embedded it into here. This was a fun one to make, especially because I was collaborating with someone.

emoji comparison

???? (I’m rating it a 2 personally)

Hey guys! So this assignment was very simple and easy to do. I just had to take a picture of a friend doing something in the moment that looks like one of the emojis on a phone. My sister was with me doing her homework when I found this assignment, and I asked for her help. She told me her favorite emoji was the one smirking with sunglasses on, so she found a pair and I took a picture of her! These are the results:

Since this assignment was very easy and done in two seconds, I chose to do a third assignment to do, so that will be my next post!

What is your favorite emoji?

Emojis

The last mashup assignment that I did was Mashing Friends and Emojis. In this assignment, I had to take a picture of one of my friends recreating an emoji and then compare them to each other.

For this assignment, I tasked my roommate to be the person recreating the emoji. First we had to figure out what emoji we wanted to do. We tried a bunch of different emojis before we decided on the final one.

Once we had picked an emoji, I started taking photos of my roommate recreating it. It took a couple of tries but I am really happy on how the final product came out!

Roommates Who Look Like Emojis

For one of the assignments from the assignment bank this week I chose to do an assignment called “Mashing Friends and Emojis” which was 4 stars. I chose this because it is something that we used to do when we were younger, try and look like an emoji and make each other guess which one we were. For this assignment, I took a picture of my roommate Emily (social distancing ya know). I asked her to do this pose because it is one of my favorites and the one I send most often haha. I saved a picture of the emoji from google on my camera roll and downloaded the Instagram Layout app. This app is great for making a collage of pictures and it gives you lots of different templates to choose from. I chose this specific layout because it allows you to see the entire picture, if they were side by side both hands wouldn’t fit and you’d be left with half of the picture. This assignment really brought back happy memories to my childhood.

Emoji Friends

For this assignment I had to look through my camera roll and try to find a picture of my friend mimicking one of the iPhone emojis. I don’t think about this when I’m trying to take a picture so I really had to try to think of emojis while looking through my camera roll. I finally settled on this cute picture of my baby cousin with sunglasses on, looking like the sunglasses emoji. I used the website https://www.photocollage.com/ to create a collage on my computer after I emailed myself the pictures. I got the emoji picture off of google.

Mashing Friends And Emojis

My roommate looks exactly like that one babyface emoji!!!

My roommate Stella, helped me with this Mashup assignment by mimicking the babyface emoji on Apple phones! We even used the snap chat baby filter to enhance the baby looking aspect of the photo! I can’t stop laughing at how identical these photos are! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Mashing Friends and Emojis

For 4 stars I mashed my best friend Theophilus Felder to the smirking emoji.

Theo loves to make this face at me so I was ecstatic to even capture the moment.

For this project I used a picture I had taken on homecoming of me and Theo, while he was making a funny face. I do not use these pictures to embarrass people, rather I use them to keep me happy and remind myself of the good times.

For this project I downloaded the app “Collageable” and edited the two images together, then saved it to my camera roll. Then emailed it to myself, downloaded it to the desktop of my laptop and embedded it into my blog post. I liked doing this because it brought back happy memories during a very stressful point in the semester.
Enjoy!

Thank you for reading my blog.

Mashing Friends with Emojis

4 Stars

For this assignment, I used a picture of my friend Mary to showcase how an emoji would be used.

This assignment was fun because I got to go through my pictures to see what stuff my friends have done that I could attribute to an emoji. I was originally going for a different photo, but this one was too good to pass up!
