Hmm, I think I’ve Heard That Before, Disney

Have you ever noticed that Disney seems to have at least one striving-for/dreaming-of/wishing-for something song in every musical movie or TV show? I was recently listening through a bunch of this kind of song and realized how many there were. To illustrate this, I created a mashup of some of the ones I thought most fit the category. I also followed the guidelines of the prompt “Disney Mashup” (4 stars).

Like my similar mashups in the past, I started by finding and downloading all of the songs that I needed for my mashup. I only went back once to grab a few more songs, but, for the most part, I started with the collection I needed. From there, I imported them all into Audacity and started soloing each song individually to try and find the piece of the song that I wanted.

Once I had that, I began moving the different song clips to different locations. There was some logic to the order I placed them in (for example, the songs “Ready as I’ll ever be,” “Wind in my hair,” and “How Far I’ll Go” all flowed together nicely. The first two had the same singer and the second two both mentioned the wind.) I also tried to use a clip that I had pulled from the beginning of a song to start my piece. Finally, I used the song “Live Your Story” to wrap things up because I felt like it encapsulated everything I was trying to convey with the mashup. However, even with this logic in some places, others were very random. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the song “On My Way” was followed immediately by “Go The Distance” which mentioned on my way in the lyrics.

Finally, I played around with the overall audio level to make sure that none of the clips stood out due to a sudden volume change. I also used a fade-out to wrap up the song at the end. With this finished, I exported the audio file and uploaded it to Soundcloud. Here is the final result:

in doing the mashup assignment “disney mashup,” i decided to mix the intro songs of my favorite disney channel shows, the proud family and that so raven. at the beginning of this mashup i wanted there to be intros where you see the name of the shows. then a slowed down 5-10 sec clips of each of the shows alternating. then i concluded with fast alternating clips of both the shows so that it feels that while two different narratives and formats are being utilized, its in the same world, where these quirky blk girls get to be young and free.

i used youtube for the clips and iMovie for editing.

Assignments Week 12!

MashupAssignments, MashupAssignments2151

For this assignment I used snap chat to create superman holding up the UC! It was a pretty quick one and I enjoyed making it! This was worth 3 stars.

MashupAssignments2037

For this assigment I also used snap chat! I had to create a mashup of two actors that looked like they should be together. I recently saw daddies home 2 and that is why I chose these two actors.  This was worth 3 and a half stars!

MashupAssignments2132

For this project I had to mash up two Disney songs. I used listentoYoutube.com to convert the music from Youtube. Then I layered it in audacity. This is worth 4 stars!

MashupAssignments2010

For this assignment I did the same as before. I used audacity and layered the song Sound of Silence by Disturbed and the Wiggles song Fruit salad. This was worth 3 and a half stars!

Disney Mashup

I combined a bunch of Disney songs together to create a pretty cool mix I wish the transitions were a little cleaner but I liked the idea of starting off where another song left off with the same sounding word. For example I used know and go and for and sure. I used iMovie so that’s probably why its really choppy but I had fun making it I always enjoy listening to Disney songs!

Disney Mashup

I did the Disney mashup assignment (4 stars) where I picked two songs from Moana and Frozen, my favorite newer Disney movies. I still like the old ones better though, not gonna lie. I used audacity and did some simple fade in and outs to make it flow. I also made a tutorial showing how to do it here.

How Far I’ll Let it Go

To kick off week 12, I decided to start with a little Disney Mash Up, worth 4 stars. For this assignment, I was simply to put together some Disney songs I thought would blend well together. I love all things Disney, so I was looking forward to this. I decided to go with How Far I’ll Go from Moana and Let it Go from Frozen. I chose these songs because they shared words in the title, so to me they went together. I used the versus from Moana and the chorus from Frozen to mash my songs.

To complete the assignment, I found both songs in my iTunes. Then, I uploaded both to Audacity and cut the choruses and versus that I needed from each song and mashed them together. Once I finished, I listened to see how they sounded together. They don’t blend well, but I think it is funny because instead of Moana singing how far she will go, it brings in Elsa singing let it go. It is like Elsa is telling Moana to let go of her dream of being a voyager and see what is beyond her island. After I finished the song, I uploaded it to SoundCloud and embedded it below.

Disney Mashup

For this assignment, take your favorite Disney songs and try to make them flow when you mash them together!Have fun with it and enjoy!
