Nerd Valentines III: Attack of the Valentines

Yet another Valentine’s Day has arrived and for the third year in a row I whipped some cards up, and yet again I did not improve my style (but I kinda like the “bad” look to them… they’re campy). This years batch includes Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars. And so without any further ado… First is Doctor Who. The blue box is basically a time traveling machine that the characters use so I feel like the phrase is pretty self explanatory. This needs a bit more explaining. These aliens, though they may look silly, are one of the Doctor’s biggest (if not THE biggest enemy). To put it very simply they roll around, say “EXTERMINATE” and try to zap things with their lasers. So instead of EXTERMINATE I had them say INFATUATE, which I know someone on the internet has done before but whatever.
This is another one I’m sure someone somewhere has done: a Valentine with Yoda speak.
Now for the Star Trek ones. This is a redshirt. In the Star Trek universe redshirts are known to die, so much so that any expendable type character in other shows/movies are known as redshirts. The phrase on this one comes from a Ke$ha song and I feel like it was appropriate.
And finally, my anti-Valentine. Something new this year. Doctor Leonard “Bones” McCoy is my favorite character in Star Trek: The Original Series and the new movies but I couldn’t figure out how to make a Bones-centric Valentine so I took his catch phrase “I’m a Doctor not a… (bricklayer, escalator, physicist)” and altered it to be an anti-Valentine.

Nerd Valentines… the Sequel

Valentines day is upon us again and I decided to create nerd valentines for the second year in a row. What’s more is I’m posting this BEFORE Valentines day, instead of a day late like last year. This year’s crop includes more Star Trek, some Community and one from Doctor Who. (Let it be known I watch entirely too much television). There’s only five right now but there’s still a couple days so I might make some more.
The first one is from NBC’s Community. Nothing really fancy. One of Abed’s frequent lines is “Cool Cool Cool” so I just tweaked it a bit.
The second one is also from Community. It specifically references the episode “Remedial Chaos Theory” in which Abed tells another character that he is creating six different timelines by rolling a die to decide who goes and gets the pizza. This Valentine combines that with passing notes in elementary school.

The next one is Doctor Who themed, can’t get much nerdier than that. The Doctor is an alien called a Time Lord. As you can, hopefully, tell from the valentine he has two hearts so that’s explains the phrase on this one.

If there is something nerdier than Doctor Who I’m going to say Star Trek. This fourth one has Mongomery Scott on it. He’s an Engineer aboard the Starship Enterprise. As many people know one of his quotes is “I’m giving her all she’s got Captain!” And that was the basis for this Valentine.
The final one is Captain James Tiberius Kirk, again from Star Trek. One of the settings on their ~~guns~~ phasers is stun. It’s super cheesy but that’s what I was aiming for.

Star Wars Warning Labels

I saw this assignment pop up the other day and thought it looked fun but had no idea what to do. Then, on what turned out to be an almost 6hr trip from Fredericksburg to Philly, I thought of something. I remembered reading a list of ridiculous warning labels like a chainsaw’s “Do not attempt to stop with hands” or coffee cups saying “Caution: Contents hot,” so I took the chainsaw one and altered it a bit to work for the lightsaber.

Here’s my first attempt at it. It’s hard to see on the smallish picture but I added yellow and white onto the hilt (?) of the lightsaber. Drawing, even little lines, is tough without a mouse.

After making these two I made one more from when Anakin and Obi Wan were fighting. I couldn’t find a picture that I liked of the fight so I had to take a screen shot. I got the signs from websites but photoshopped them into my screenshot.

The warnings I made didn’t really help the characters in the movie though since Anakin (with Obi Wan’s “help”) fell into the lava and Luke ended up losing his hand on a lightsaber. Yay irony

Also, I need to do a post outlining what I’m doing for my final project. I shall get on that in a couple days.

A day late… but Nerd Valentines

This is a day late but I wanted to make these, and I had no time before this.

The first one is from Firefly where shiny means “good, great, neat, cool etc.”

Second one is Star Trek. Sure Vulcans don’t show emotion buuuut I don’t care. I wanted to make cheesy valentines.

The next two are from Lord of the Rings. Couldn’t decide which creepy valentine inspired by Lord of the Rings I liked better.

And the last is Star Wars. It was my favorite I think. Took the idea from Obi Wan’s line “These are not the droids you are looking for.”

These were quickly done so they’re not the best. I just wanted to get them out before it was two days after valentines day.
