Nerd Valentines V: The Force Awakens

I missed doing Valentines for 2015 and as of right now I’ve only gotten two (well… one and a half) done for 2016. BUT I didn’t want to get too busy and miss posting them before the actual day. So here are my attempts at Valentines for the year featuring two rival fandoms Star Wars and Star Trek.

The first is from the new Star Wars movie. BB-8 was adorable and its name provided a gr8 pun. I hand drew BB8, took a pic of it on my phone, and then colored over the line art in photoshop. Once again, drawing with a mouse is hard. Star Wars font came from DaFont

So this is what I’m calling half a Valentine… or I could say an anti-Valentine like my Bones one from before. No real love or adoration is expressed by the card but since it’s a variation of the “Roses are red, violets are blue…” poem I’m counting it as half a Valentine.
Found a picture of The Enterprise online, erased the background, made new background with one of the paint brushes in photoshop. Star Trek font also from DaFont

I don’t know if I’ll be making any more this year but we will see.

Another year another batch of Valentines, still the same crappy photoshopping. Only three this year… unless I find time to make some after work but that’d be past Valentine’s Day.
Darth Vader/ Star Wars one. I think this one might be my favorite.
Spock/Star Trek
Hodor/Game of Thrones. Or the Hodor one might be my favorite….

Nerd Valentines III: Attack of the Valentines

Yet another Valentine’s Day has arrived and for the third year in a row I whipped some cards up, and yet again I did not improve my style (but I kinda like the “bad” look to them… they’re campy). This years batch includes Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars. And so without any further ado… First is Doctor Who. The blue box is basically a time traveling machine that the characters use so I feel like the phrase is pretty self explanatory. This needs a bit more explaining. These aliens, though they may look silly, are one of the Doctor’s biggest (if not THE biggest enemy). To put it very simply they roll around, say “EXTERMINATE” and try to zap things with their lasers. So instead of EXTERMINATE I had them say INFATUATE, which I know someone on the internet has done before but whatever.
This is another one I’m sure someone somewhere has done: a Valentine with Yoda speak.
Now for the Star Trek ones. This is a redshirt. In the Star Trek universe redshirts are known to die, so much so that any expendable type character in other shows/movies are known as redshirts. The phrase on this one comes from a Ke$ha song and I feel like it was appropriate.
And finally, my anti-Valentine. Something new this year. Doctor Leonard “Bones” McCoy is my favorite character in Star Trek: The Original Series and the new movies but I couldn’t figure out how to make a Bones-centric Valentine so I took his catch phrase “I’m a Doctor not a… (bricklayer, escalator, physicist)” and altered it to be an anti-Valentine.

Nerd Valentines… the Sequel

Valentines day is upon us again and I decided to create nerd valentines for the second year in a row. What’s more is I’m posting this BEFORE Valentines day, instead of a day late like last year. This year’s crop includes more Star Trek, some Community and one from Doctor Who. (Let it be known I watch entirely too much television). There’s only five right now but there’s still a couple days so I might make some more.
The first one is from NBC’s Community. Nothing really fancy. One of Abed’s frequent lines is “Cool Cool Cool” so I just tweaked it a bit.
The second one is also from Community. It specifically references the episode “Remedial Chaos Theory” in which Abed tells another character that he is creating six different timelines by rolling a die to decide who goes and gets the pizza. This Valentine combines that with passing notes in elementary school.

The next one is Doctor Who themed, can’t get much nerdier than that. The Doctor is an alien called a Time Lord. As you can, hopefully, tell from the valentine he has two hearts so that’s explains the phrase on this one.

If there is something nerdier than Doctor Who I’m going to say Star Trek. This fourth one has Mongomery Scott on it. He’s an Engineer aboard the Starship Enterprise. As many people know one of his quotes is “I’m giving her all she’s got Captain!” And that was the basis for this Valentine.
The final one is Captain James Tiberius Kirk, again from Star Trek. One of the settings on their ~~guns~~ phasers is stun. It’s super cheesy but that’s what I was aiming for.
