I made a gif!

Oh! How I have always wanted to make silly animated gifs!

So, after hours and hours of trying to follow useless tutorials and obnoxious hundred-step processes… I realized that I had Adobe Media Encoder.  The rest took like 2 minutes.  Tops.  Don’t I just feel the fool!

Anyway, here’s my first gif ever:

A couple of my students, practicing/screwing around

The one on the left is Matthew, a student of mine, teacher of mine and classmate of mine (I’m talking martially, here).  On the right is Austin, a student of mine (and also of Matthew’s.  We teach different styles and many of our students attend both my class and his).

While I was at this whole makin’ stuff thing, I also took some more Daily Create photos.

Daily Create 33 – A picture of confusion

This is only a slight exaggeration of my genuine confused face.

Daily Create 035 – Show us your desperate need to do some sit-ups

tdc035

Oh no, wait.  It was “show us your tattoos.”  The sit-ups thing is just what I can’t help but think of whenever I see this picture.  Ugh.  In the upper left (your left, my right) is the symbol of my school (again, speaking martially).  It’s the yin and yang, composed of a tiger and a dragon.  On the right (your right, my left) is a black, broken heart and the words “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.”  Emo, right?     Then, on my pudge down at the bottom is the Eightfold Path in Sanskrit.  It used to be legible (y’know, if you can read Sanskrit) but in the last few years, it’s gotten a bit stretched out and warped, if you know what I’m sayin’.

I’m going to go do some cardio, I think…

2 Unlikely Intersections Meet Again

DSC04668

For my last assignment of the week, I decided as I was driving through my home town. I noticed the two street signs, Lamb and New Boston. My first thought was, oh that is probably not good enough, but then I realized that you would never see an actual lamb in the new Boston City. I kind of laughed to myself, picture a lamb walking down the city streets of Boston, never going to happen, or at the lease, it is very unlikely.

I removed myself from my car, walked up to the two names that are likely to never meet and snapped the shot!

A Return to the Never-ending Road

DSC04622

This assignment really caught my eye, I thought it was a great idea! As I sat and thought about where I have been, the picture of my cousin and myself popped into my head. Sara had to do a project of someone who was special to her in one of her classes, she chose me. We went to a place by the Erie Canal, in our small town, and had my mom take pictures of us. This particular picture is of us holding hands walking down a long road, signifying us taking this path of life together, and then when the road ends we would find our own way. Ever since we were little kids, we were tied at the hip, did everything together; she was my hero. Going back to that one spot today, made me realized how much life interferes with relationships such as this one. I went back to that same place and it was the same but different, the life was dead. That doesn’t symbolize our relationship because we will always have a bond that no one will understand, however maybe us growing up was just a part of life, and we were meant to go down two separate roads, who knows. I still love her to the moon and back, and as our song says, she will always Stand By Me.

There wasn’t exactly a process to this, I framed the original picture, took it with me to that long road to life, stuck it out as long as my arms could reach, and snapped the shot. Life to death, death to life.

Cat Breading!

DSC04624

As I scrolled through all of the different options, the idea of cat breading caught my eye. I am much more of a dog person, but I thought it would be a fun assignment. I drove to my grandma’s house, found the bread, put a hole in the bread and put her cat’s head (Boots) in the middle. I had my sister hold him because there was no way he was letting us do this without help. The bread at one point broke because he kept moving, and all I could think about was his eyes glaring at me, whispering, “Please get this bread off of my head.”

Celebrity Look-Alike

For many, many years, my best friend has been compared to Jude Law.  Here’s why:
Bill Law

Crazy right?  I lifted a few pictures from Bill’s facebook, ones in which he looks particularly… Judey? Jusdish?  Jude-Like? Anyway, the pictures don’t really do the resemblance justice.  In real life, it’s uncanny.  Again, just using paint to throw some pictures on top of some other pictures.  One of these days, I might even make a substantial Glob post.

She is Always Extraordinary

For my second couple of stars on the assignments for week four, I chose taking a friend, or in this case, my sister who is normal and making her extraordinary. I picked my sister because when I think of an extraordinary person, Cassidy automatically comes to mind. She is 3 years younger than me and my best friend; my world would be ordinary without her. She is my inspiration in life. She has the most beautiful eyes, in that aspect we are complete opposites, she was blessed with these big blue eyes and I got stuck with my dark chocolate eyes. I chose this avatar looking creature because this is one of our many movies, sometimes we will say, “I see you,” instead of “I love you,” because no one else knows us inside out the way a sister does.

I made her emphasize her long beautiful eye lashes with mascara, put a little make up on her (the sparkle around her eyes and in between her eyes, also the black lines giving a more avatar look), and the rest was done on the computer. She is the photographer in the family, not me, so I had a little guidance of how to digitally make this avatar happen. Once again, I used adobe photoshop, playing around with the colors, the brightness etc., and in doing that her eyes changed to a tint of green. I added a few lines emphasizing the avatar look, and of course made her blue!

Just a Hint of Color and Love

chels'n ky

I think these pictures are beautiful. I love black and white to begin with, and when you take a part of the picture and make it color, it stands out and emphasizes that particular part. I had my sister take this picture one Easter for me. The little boy holding my hand is my cousin, Kyler. He and I have this bond, this strong connection that no one in the family can understand, except us. When he was a baby, he couldn’t say “Chelsea,” so he would call me, “Chi Chi,” and he still does to this day. Making the rest of the world around us black and white, while we are our own unit, defines us and our relationship.

I used my sisters Adobe photoshop, which is a program that can be downloaded online. One of our many web 2.0 gidgets. Before doing anything with adobe, in my IPHOTO, I edited the picture with the different effects I had, putting the whole picture in black and white. Then I opened up the document of my photo went to the top bar and clicked a button that adjusts the contrast and brightness of the picture.
