Continuing on with my 16 stars for the week, I did an assignment that did not deal with my character. This video assignment is called Sport Team Pump-Up Video and is worth 4 1/2 stars to bring me to a total of 9 thus far. This assignment tells you to pick your favorite sports team and make a montage video. My favorite team is the Boston Red Sox. I am actually going up to Boston to see the home opener series in two weeks (so excited). What I did for this assignment was looked up a bunch of famous Red Sox pics on Google and then uploaded them into iMovie. After this I selected to use the song Shipping up to Boston by Dropkick Murphys. I selected the instrumental version because I just like it better. I then added the audio to iMovie maker along with some transitions. Then I uploaded it to Youtube. It might not pump up the team, but it sure pumps me up for my trip in 2 weeks. I am happy with how it turned out! Yankees fans might think otherwise though…
For this assignment, I made a video using different highlights from the Washington Redskins.
To complete this assignment, I first found several different videos on YouTube that had the clips I used above. I then used a Youtube converter to download them into iMovie. I then found this song, that I thought went well with the clips, and also downloaded it into iMovie. I then edited the clips together and overlaid the music, before saving it to my computer. I attempted to upload the video to WordPress, but for some reason it would not upload. Instead, I uploaded it to my YouTube account.
Channel your inner ESPN and clip together highlights of your favorite athete, set it to some music, and add an intro
5 Stars!
For this assignment I picked Alex Ovechkin a right wing for the Washington Capitals. I found this was a good choice as he had many highlights and they were not hard to find. For the intro to this video I used an ESPN commercial that was made a few years back which i found hysterical and I think many others will as well. I then found a couple other highlights on Youtube and pieced them all together using Windows Movie Maker. This was my first real assignment with Movie Maker and it was a bit challenging. I found the trim tool the hardest to use and fading in different videos was hard to get perfect. The transitions are not as good as they could be but I did the best I could. This was a great assignment as i found the Sports theme to fit my interests. Enjoy!
Choose your favorite sports team, and make a video montage much like you would see in the pregame video in the stadium or arena. Make it look authentic! Add music and any effects to really push your montage to the next level!
4 1/2 Stars!
I found this assignment to be some of my best work yet. I used three different Videos for this assignment and I think they all came together very well. The intro is awesome as it is full of suspense and leads into some awesome highlights “pumping-up” the viewer for the season to come. I added some visual effects for each transition that I really found to fit well. Once again I used Windows Movie Maker to complete this project. For this video I ran into some trouble with uploading it to Youtube. The file format from Windows Movie Maker was not cooperating with what Youtube wanted but with a little playing around i was able to convert the format and make it work. This is again Capitals themed as they are my favorite sports team! I hope you enjoy!
After winning the championship in the NBA Finals in 2008 of Game 6, Kevin Garnett said, “Anything is possible!” I’m pretty sure I used that quote in my other blog posts but I love his quote. It’s true though. I wish he was still a Celtic. It was a great opportunity though to do the video assignment (4.5/5 stars) of a pump up video for this season. I used Wondershare to do this assignment. It was fun. I was all like when I found this assignment:
Anyways since I know this season that my favorite team, Boston Celtics, will make a huge playoff run. I’m not going to stop believing it! Without further ado, here is my pump-up video for the 2014-15 Boston Celtics! Enjoy!
For my last video assignment, I decided to do the “Sports Team Pump-Up Video”. The team I decided to use was the Washington Capitals (yes, I realized a few people have already chosen this team for their assignment, but I felt like hockey is the best sport for a pump-up video). I really love watching hockey, and it provides a great amount of drama and stress, especially if you’re an avid Caps fan.
The site I used to download my youtube clips from is called SaveFrom and it easily allows me to download any youtube clip in the given quality options they offer. I used three clips for this assignment:
Importing the videos onto iMovie, which is the app I used for this assignment, took a little longer than I thought, considering the length of each video wasn’t too long in my opinion. Cutting and splicing specific parts of each video was a bit challenging, as I was still getting used to using iMovie, but I was able to figure it out soon enough and got the clips I wanted for this video. I had to tone the volume of each clip so that way, to the best I could, so that the background song I used was able to be heard, but not overpowering that it cancelled out the in-game commentary. For the song choice, I decided to go with Indestructible by Disturbed.
Here is what my work space looked like, with my edited work on the top left box and all my supporting work that I used on the bottom box:
And here is my final product:
Overall, I am really happy on how this all came out, and it really made me more familiar with iMovie. Despite the frustrations, I had a fun time doing this assignment actually.
Sports pump it up video: For my video I chose to do a video on the Washington Capitals. Choosing the Caps do this project on was easy. I love following Washington sports teams. I really love baseball but hockey is the next best thing.
I knew that I wanted to choose the song “Pretender” by The Foo Fighters. This was one of the songs they used by the capitals to open the game.
The first thing I had to do was pick the clips. YouTube only had a few clips that I felt could be used. I chose the best ones. I wanted to incorporate ones that had crowds in them. I feel like helps pump up the video because crowds fuel sports.
I made sure to incorporate times in which they scored and did group huttles. This would be a great video to watch at the beginning of a game because it pumps up the crowd.
The capitals have not been doing that well this season so I think it would a good way to have the crowd remember that at one point we were good.
To make this video I downloaded the video clips from YouTube and then I put them into Keep Vid which is an amazing tool. From there I downloaded the videos to my desktop and imported them into iMovie.
I movie allows you to clip and place different clips of the video together. From there I placed the music in and trimmed the audio. Below is an example of what the screen looked like:
I love iMovie because it is an easy-to-use program for creating videos.
Sports team Pump up video: Choose your favorite sports team and make a video montage like you would see before a game.
Finding a team to do a video montage on was the easy part. I have always been a baseball fan, and especially a Jeter fan, so it was only right that I created a pump up for the New York Yankees. Before I even started searching youtube for video clips, I knew exactly what song I wanted to use to go along with the video clips. New York by Alicia Keys, ft. Jay Z. The song has a good beat as well as mentions the Yankees, making it perfect for this video.
My next task was to find video clips that I wanted to put in the video. This part took a little longer than I expected it to, mainly because I was very picky in what video clips I wanted to use for my final video. I watched a lot of home-run videos, but the more I watched them the more I realized that home-run videos can get very old very fast. I decided that I wanted to focus more on key players from the Yankees and incredible plays because I thought that it added more excitement to the video.
I started the video with Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech, because I think that it just shows how much history is behind baseball, and why it is called “America’s Past-time.” I then moved into more exciting plays, like when Derek Jeter hit his 3,000th hit, and became apart of the 3,000 hits club. Or when the yankees turned 3 outs to get out of the inning. Or my personal favorite, when the New York Yankees make a 9-0 comeback on the Red Sox’s to win the game. Although there were so many video clips I could choose from I choose the ones that were most memorable for me, and just really showed what an incredible sport this is.
In order to create this video I used MPEG Stream-clip to easily trim videos and save them on my computer. As well as a Youtube to MP4 converter, to download the videos straight into MPEG. After trimming and saving to my computer I imported all the video clips into iMovie (the video software that comes with mac). I choose to put Lou Gehrig’s video first to open everything, and did not add music over it, because I wanted the listeners to hear his words. After dragging all the video’s into place, I added the song straight from my iTunes, which is automatically connected to iMovie. I drug the song in, similar to how I drug the video clips in and then made my final touches of an introduction and a slide at the end to give credit to all the sites I used to create the video.
So the assignment that this post is dedicated to is the Sports Team Pump-Up Video assignment. The goal of this assignment is to essentially create a pump-up video for a sports team of our choice. A couple weeks ago we were assigned to do some pre-production for a couple of video assignments and this was one of the assignments I chose, meaning I was fairly prepared to do this assignment. The team that I chose to do my pump-up video on was my favorite basketball team the Chicago Bulls. To accomplish this assignment I first needed to generate my story for the video. The story I generated was to be based around the injuries to Derrick Rose over the past two seasons, and how this season is (hopefully) his official comeback. This means that I would open the video with clips of him getting injured, and as the video progresses introduce clips of him shooting in the gym, working out, and playing with him teammates, building up to the ultimate goal of the team dominating on the court.
As far as the music went within this video, I think I did a very good job. I used three different songs for within this video. Those being the Space Jam Theme Song, When I’m Goneby Wiz Khalifa, and Lose Yourselfby Eminem. And yes I know that last one is very typical for a video of this nature. I used these songs for a few different reasons. I utilized the song When I’m Gone for the first minute of the song, which includes a slow piano, increasing in tempo, and building along with a beat. I think this gave a very strong vibe of the downfall to start the video, but the uprising that is to come. I then chose to use Lose Yourself because in my opinion, it is the single-handedly, most motivational song of all time. Not only the lyrics but the beat and the emotion that Eminem’s spits his verses in create a fantastic piece of work.
To edit my video I simply used iMovie (again). And to maintain all the clips I would add I simply downloaded those from KeepVid. If you would like to look at screenshots for both of those, you can look at my last blog post on my Mash-Up Trailer. I found that this assignment needed a lot more clip splicing and editing than my last assignment did. Because basketball is such a fast-paced game, the clips needed to be very specific and edited with the clip’s audio in mind. In this video, I also utilized a lot of pictures. I’m not entirely sure as to why I did that, but it just felt right to use them in the areas I did. The only other thing I did that was somewhat special was add video effects to all of the clips displaying and explaining Derrick Rose’s injury. I added the iMovie “Vignette” video effect, and then changed the color levels so that the Chicago Bulls color Red would dominate the clips. So if you’d like to take a look at my Chicago Bulls Pump-Up Video, here it is:
Overall, I really liked this assignment. It mixed two things that I really like, those being film and sports. It also allowed me to create something that is meaningful to me because it represents my favorite basketball team. As far as my performance on this assignment, I think I did a good job. I created a video that I feel has a very strong and well displayed story, but also includes a good amount of nifty editing tricks that really help make this video pop. In my opinion, I think the video, music, and audio meshed very well together and created a good final product.
This assignment is worth a total of 4.5 stars out of 5.
Giving me a total of 9.5 stars for the week. If you’d like to check out this assignment you can find it here. Other than that, I hope you guys enjoyed and stay tuned for my next video assignment. Deuces.
In this assignment, we had to create a pump-up or hype video that would be played before the game. The process to create this was not to difficult but it did take a while to put everything together. Putting everything together and adding background music was not difficult. Another challenging part was the thought process, of what videos and clips I wanted to use for the video. It took some time to figure out what clips fit where and to interconnect everything. The media sources that I used where NBA TV, ESPN, and YouTube. These three sources pretty much had every clip I needed in order to make this video.
Final Video Part 1:
Final Video Part 2:
The Boston Celtics are my favorite sports team without a doubt. So when I was creating this video I had so much fun with the process, because I knew most the clips and players that I wanted in this hype video to represent my Celtics. I have seen all the great Boston Celtics games from the 80s and I knew I had to put the legacy of the Celtics in the video. While adding the recent past that recently won a championship, but also looking toward the future. I think that I was able to present that very well in this video. I really love how the music plays in the video and very pleased with the music I choose.
Anytime I go to a game with my family and friends, one of the important things to get the crowd involved early, especially the home team. One way teams do this is with a hype video before introducing the players. If you have a great hype video then that will energize the crowd even more. Overall, I am very happy with way the video turned out and I think the music really adds a great touch to the highlights. This has probably been my favorite assignment out of anything that we have done the whole semester. I have always wanted to learn how to make one of these and thanks to this class I was able to do so and for my favorite team.
What could be better than tracking down highlight clips of the greatest sports team in the history of the world? That team of course would be the NY Yankees. They have won 27 world championships; that’s more than any other team in any other sport.
Having said that, the process was both fun and challenging. I scoured YouTube for just the right clips to include in my video. I had to edit each one quite extensively to trim them down to the main action. I detached all of the audio tracks from each clip and then deleted them permanently.
I then added a motivating song to the project. When thinking about motivating songs and the NY Yankees, only one song can come to mind and that song is “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. I already had this song on my computer so I simply dragged it over. Closing pitcher Mariano Rivera who retired last year, used this song as his entrance music for many years. The song also symbolized what Rivera did to the opponent, he put them to bed.
I wanted to add an opening title credit, so I typed in a text on the opening sequence and let it run for a few seconds.
