For this assignment, I was supposed to do a product review. Lately, I have been feeling very passionate about my Papermate Ink Joy pens, and I have found myself telling people my grievances with them on multiple occasions. So, I decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to rant about these pens when I saw this assignment was an option!
This assignment was the Product Review worth 3 stars.
For my last assignment for video week, I chose to do a product review. I will admit that I had no idea what I was going to do. I looked around my house and found my glasses cleaner and immediately had some funny uses for it. I recorded my video which I wanted to be as real to my personality as possible so I left in the “um’s” for authenticity’s sake. After I filmed, I went into my movie editor and clipped the beginning so that there was not the awkward pause that normally is in these types of videos. In the end, I had a lot of fun making this and would not mind doing this more regularly. My Product Review is a little unconventional, but that is what I love about it.
For my last video assignment of the week I chose Product Review. This assignment was worth 3 stars! To complete this project I simply chose an item in my house that I use extremely often and reviewed it, my Swell water bottle! I recorded this video using the photo booth on my laptop. Once I recorded it I inputted the clip to iMovie so I could add in some text slides of information, and audio for some finishing touches! Then I simply shared it to my youtube channel! Unfortunately when I uploaded it to youtube the title slides were removed, so if anyone has any advice on how to stop that from happening next time that would be really appreciated! Here is my final product!
This is a review of my 1988 Nissan Pathfinder for this assignment. I really had to try and give a condensed version of this car’s story because I could probably ramble on for over 20 minutes.
One of my favorite YouTube channels to watch is Regular Car Reviews. I tried to replicate that style with slightly less humor and cultural history, and instead a little more about the car. If you’ve never seen any videos of that channel, here is one of a D21 hardbody, the truck that this Pathfinder is based off of.
If you notice, the pathfinder is practically the same, only with a permanent caba attached to it. And RCR is right, this truck is dependable. Since owning it and rescuing it from a wrecker I’ve put on almost 5000 miles, all of them dependable. With only 165,000 miles on my pathfinder, I’m looking forward to many more.
I shot this video with my brother, as it was easier to bounce off ideas of what to film, how to set up the shot, and what angles would work best. I wanted to do a driving test along with the other parts of the video but decided it would be too long. For this I used iMovie to stitch together the movie, and Audacity to record and edit my voice. I first strung out the video clips together in a general order in which I would talk about. I then watched the preview in iMovie while recording in Audacity, then trimming down and editing the video clips to match the appropriate scenes with the dialogue.
In this video I review the new Macbook Pro. I recommend it to anyone looking for a new laptop. It cannot be beaten. You can check it out in the video below.
I never really think about things I use on a daily basis and if I generally like them. So this was a fun assignment to think about some of those things and of course I love the new Macbook Pro.

This video assignment involves reviewing a product in your house, so I chose my PlayStation 4 since I just made a video demoing a game. These video assignments were fun to do since it’s something I enjoy. I’m not much of a social media junkie so taking this class is mostly new to me except for YouTube. It’s taken awhile to get both videos (this and my hobby one) uploaded successfully since I needed to record them on my phone, upload them to google drive (each took about 10 minutes), download them off google drive to my computer (took about 2 minutes), THEN upload the damn things to YouTube since the max size on domain is 150MB which they both exceed (took about 10 minutes each). Was a bit of a hassle but whatever, got this week’s video assignments out of the way now!

For my last assignment, I recorded a product review on my cat.
This assignment was pretty simple. I just recorded myself using my phone (next time I would turn it the other way…it bugs me) and ranted about the hatred of this cat that lives in my house. I then uploaded the clips into iMovie, sorted them, and added text and transitions.
I may have spent just as much time debating what to do a review on then working on itself. I chose my pair of Croakies. They’re made to hold your glasses around your neck. Made popular by fraternity members, Croakies are more of a fashion look than a practical use. This is my personal opinion. I’m more likely to take off my glasses and fold them, allowing them to be hung on the collar of my shirt. I was only limited in this review by the simplicity of the product.
I made this whole movie (review) without ever leaving Movie Maker. Upon opening Movie Maker, the program I clicked on the Home tab and selected Webcam Video. Once it was selected it was ready for recording. I clicked on the big red dot signify record and I spent the next four minutes talking about my Croakies. When I finished I went back to the Home tab. I was able to add both a title and credits sequence from here. I was finished after exporting the file and then uploading the file to YouTube.
I have a secret obsession… I love watching YouTube videos about anything makeup or fashion related. I can spend hours going through all the different kinds of videos people have uploaded and most of the time if they’re good at raving about all the good things about a product, I will probably buy it. I haven’t always been into makeup but recently I’ve started to love it. It’s a way to express your creativity and put time and effort into your appearance. When this assignment gave me the chance to be a ‘beauty guru’ for the day, I excitedly took it!
This 3 star assignment was fun and simple. All I had to do was choose an item and make a video review of it. To go along with the makeup routine I posted earlier, I decided to review one of my favorite makeup products.
How I Did It:
After deciding what product I wanted to review, I used my iPhone to record the video. Once the video was recorded I used Movie Maker to edit out the parts of me starting and stopping the recording. I added a title and credits screen to the beginning and end, respectively. After this all that was left to do was to upload it to YouTube.
