How I Made It

Here’s a simple video talking about some of the Vimeo shots I took here. That’s is a Flickr link to all of what I’ve posted, but there are a few in particular that I mention, such as the sunglasses shots, the bat shots and the ground-level shots. Those are definitely some of my favorites that I’ve made.

Looking back at those “scenes”, I still felt the same way about the shots; I liked the angles. Looking at these places everyday definitely makes them more normal to the eye, but at the same time, I see some more potential with each of the shots. Setting up different angles, would definitely be the most drastic, however the lighting in the room would change each shot too.

How I Made It

_cokwr: Create, edit, and submit a video tutorial for the creation process for one of your ds106 assignments. From start to finish, include any interesting bits of information, why you selected some of the artifacts used in the assignment, and any other interesting bits of information about equipment or the process that people might need to know. Bonus points for including family members in the video! http://vimeo.com/29935341, _cpzh4: Video, _cre1l: http://www.techsavvyed.net/?p=1909&preview=true, _chk2m: Ben Rimes, _ciyn3: 176, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

How do I color my works? Well here’s a video of it.

The blue lines represent the songs I skipped because I didn’t really feel like listening to that particular song at the moment.  You know that feeling

Assignment: How I made it.
Here is my video of how I basically color my works (and hopefully the video is working).  Do be warned, it’s an HOUR long, you don’t have to watch the whole thing.  I’m still a bit a newbie when it comes to livestream, so I’m still learning.  I used livestream because I watch other artists using this program to “live stream” their art, and it’s really fun to watch them.  That’s how I got an account in the first place.  There’s a few videos in that particular account already, so feel free to check them out.
Now, the assignment says that we should submit a video progress from start to finish.  Well, that’s a bit of a problematic for me.  See, for me the actual sketching and drawing phases take the longest for me.  For me, I sometimes take days to draw what I want to draw, in this case, this particular project took about 3-4 days until I was satisfied with the figure.  There are some projects where I feel happy with what I draw one day, and then the next, I hate it and completely re-draw the whole thing all over again, and this project was one of those examples.  Of course, I had other school assignments that kept me busy.  I’ve redrawn this character at least 3 times, as seen below.

Not to mention the various hairstyles that she had to go through.
She was seriously quite difficult to draw.  Which is why I didn’t document that process on video.  So what I did document is how I color, which is my favorite part.  Also, like other artisits, I listen to music while working on my art.  I do have such a random taste in music; I have pop, rock, hip hop, Jpop, Kpop, and so on.  So I hope you didn’t mind the random genres of music.
If you do watch the entire hour of the video (wow, I will thank you), you will notice me derping a few times, like trying to close an email update, but it opened up my internet, so I had to get out of that quickly, and somewhere in the video, there’s a few seconds of awkward silence, and it’s because I accidentally hit the pause button on my Mac instead of the next button.  And I hope you enjoyed the video!

How I Made It – My 1200 mph Commute

A couple of week ago I posted a video I created about my average daily commute….only sped up to about 1200 mph. The result was quite interesting, and an excellent study of how to create a certain “mood” or convey a particular type of experience to the viewer. I was able to turn my daily 40 mile commute into a video game (at least I felt as though I did), with the right music and some serious acceleration of the video’s speed. Posted today is my “how to”. At least one person asked directly in the comments how I did it, and I received a few tweets about the creation process, so enjoy, and in case you missed the original video, you can watch it below.

If you’re an avid ds106 participant, this also happens to be a Video Assignment entitled “How I Made It”
