Spy Doggs

This is a post for this assignment here. This assignment ironically was like herding cats, but instead with dogs. My dogs listen pretty well, but are so hard to sit still together. Anyways, here’s the ad.

This was the best of a couple takes and the most they were able to sit still. The video is only supposed to be 45 seconds to a minute long, but for them, it’s an eternity. My main influence for this idea was knowing that animals have been used in the military and police forces for hundreds of years. All the way from Hannibal bringing elephants over the alps, Rin Tin Tin in WWI, and current day bomb and drug sniffing dogs animals are constantly being used in today’s militaries and police forces. And who’s to say some spy agency hasn’t used a dog before?  It’s not like they could tell you anyways.

Just like all my other videos I used iMovie to put this together. I didn’t voice over like the others because the directions stated it had to be live which made it harder to stifle the giggles after Klaus gets up and tries to walk away.

Cactathimble Infomerical

Here is my 5 star assignment for this weeks video project. I decided to give my commercial a more infomercial feel. The product is the Cactathimble! Enjoy!

10 Stars of Video Assignments

This week we were assigned to complete 10 stars worth of video assignments. I have linked them both below with a little description.

The first one I completed required I create a product commercial. Considering I had just gone to Wawa and bought a Peach Iced Tea, I decided to create the commercial off the tea. I first thought of how I wanted to film the video and thought about modern day commercials. I then incorporated shots with sound clips and audio, as well as text, to give it that ooh la la effect. One thing I do wish I could of change is that I wish I had bought a tripod prior to filming to reduce the shaking in the camera.

The next video I created was a “How To” video. I wanted to do a little spin off the assignment, and decided to create a parody of a “How To” video. My idea was how to become a video gamer, in a jokingly way, so if you do watch this video (and are a gamer) please do not take offense. This is simply a joke. To do this, I used my boyfriend who is seriously into popular video game, Super Smash Brothers, and directed the way I wanted the clips to be filmed. I then joined the clips with audio and a voiceover to create the final product.

Talie’s DIY Commercial

One of this week’s tasks was to complete ten stars worth of video assignments, four of which had to involve my western character. As such, for this assignment I acted as my character, Talie. You can read more about Talie here. This assignment required me to create a commercial for something I created myself. As such, the product I created for my commercial was a chocolate protein shake. Talie markets this chocolate protein shake as Talie’s Terrific and Nutritious Rejuvenation Shake. Within the commercial I try to direct the product toward farmers and ranchers who need to replenish their bodies after working out on the ranch all day. These farmers and ranchers compose a large part of the population in Talie’s town (Tombstone, AZ). In the commercial I go through how to make the shake and the ingredients that I used.

To create this video I had to first decide what my DIY project would be then I had to figure out how to tie my western character into the commercial. Next, I had to make the protein shake so I could use it to display in my commercial. I videoed myself acting as Talie on my phone and then saved the video to my computer and uploaded it to youtube so I could embed it here. Hope you would buy one of Talie’s terrific and nutritious rejuvenation shakes! This assignment was worth five stars.

The Creation of Esmerelda

This week is video work and we are to use our host character in our work as much as possible.  I chose to do an assignment that was to create a 45 second to 1 minute DIY commercial.  So I did one on how to create your own comic strip cartoon character on bitstrips.com.  This is the website where I created my host character, Esmerelda, the fortune teller.  My short clip tells you to go online to www.bitstrips.com and points out how you can select characters, scenes, and props to build a comicstrip story.  I am not a fan of being filmed myself, ugh, but it does get the job done.

I had my husband film me with my iphone and begged him to zoom close in on the computer screne where I point out how to make your comic character, as soon as possible.  I emailed the video to myself and then from there saved it to my computer.  Later I uploaded the video to my flickr.com account before downloading to post here.  It feels like going around the barn to get there but I have found this to be the most effect way to get my videos to load.

Reed & Cane Basket Commercial

The Work Itself

This is my second of two required video assignments for this week. This assignment is titled “DIY Product Commercial“. Its instructions were to “create a commercial for a product you have made your self. the video should be 45 seconds to 1 minute long and contain LIVE acting. no copy and past clips. submit it to you tube and tag it #ds106.” This assignment is rated 5/5 in terms of difficulty. My brother recorded a video of my advertisement, then I uploaded it to my YouTube channel. My video is titled “Reed and Cane Basket Commercial“.

The Story Behind The Story

I made this basket in a arts class in my freshman year of high school. This basket is made from only reed and cane. I weaved the reed in an intricate pattern/design under and above the cane. I colored parts of the basket in a forest green shade and weaved a diamond design on each end of the handle. This basket is in good shape and still serves its purpose of holding various items. As you can see in my commercial, it can hold tremendous weight and any shape of object. It is a must buy and if purchased now, you will receive an extra basket for free! It makes for a lovely home design and will fit in perfectly with the fall and winter seasons.

The Process, Narrated

This assignment is pretty simple. My brother recorded a video of me advertising my product on my iPhone. I emailed the video to myself so I could download it and upload it to my YouTube channel. No editing was necessary. I wrote a short description and tagged it appropriately. Below are a few photos to document the process.

Spooksy 1 Card (VideoAssignments1844 5 Stars)

Ah, my good friend Spooksy.  I filmed the whole thing sideways, because Spooksy seems a bit lackluster in matters unrelated the feasting of the flesh.  I also made a special trip to the dollar store to design the groundbreaking Spooksy 1 Card.  I was inspired by my Pepsi commercial from the radio show.  I wanted to take something simple and squeeze all the fun out of it (this is basically just an excuse because I’m bad at making/editing videos).  I feel like the whole thing works because it feels like something Spooksy would do, complete with borrowing my laptop and drinking my scotch.  I worked those elements into the video because I wanted a good out without having to go in and do a bunch of graphics and such (I’m pretty new to video editing, and entirely new to windows movie maker, so I don’t know if graphics are even possible in the program).  I have some experience with the Adobe video editing suite, which I did most of my video game play videos on, but I stopped paying for that, so they don’t let me use it anymore…

DIY Home Decorating

For this video assignment I had to make a commercial for a DIY project that I have done. I decided to work with Ashley Jackson on this assignment because we both did the same DIY project in our apartments and it seemed easier to have her introduce the idea so I can explain the idea.

We decided that a better way to sell the product was to introduce it through a talk show style video instead of a commercial since the viewers can do it at home. I loved that I got to stick to my host character and make it fun by mentioning death. As you can see we have a lot of other bottles to decorate that we haven’t gotten to yet but hopefully we inspired you to decorate your place with these simple yet sophisticated little decorations.

*&*The Acne Hider*&*

This week for 5 out of the 10 stars worth of video assignments required this week I did the DIY Product Commercial!

I filmed a video of myself raving about the new “Acne Hider” that is super easy to use and completely socially acceptable.

Here it is:

I wish the camera was better on my computer because the quality was pretty bad but I couldn’t use my phone because when I tried to transfer it to my computer the file was too large. Looking back now I probably could have just uploaded the video from my phone but oh well.

My Commercial

This is my commercial from the assignment bank worth 5 stars!!! It’s absolutely hilarious and I enjoyed making it.
