Creating an Instant Replay Video

For this Video Assignment, you have to choose a video, then pick a piece of the video to slow down. This creates an Instant Replay effect! The assignment is worth 4 stars. To start, I found the video I wanted to use on Youtube.

I then uploaded the video to this video converter website and uploaded it to my computer as an .mp4 file.

I used the movie editor IMovie to create my instant replay. I moved the file into IMovie then cut out the parts of the video I did not want to use my using the “cut” tool. Next, select the part of the video you want to Instant Replay, then go to “Modify-Instant Replay-25%.” Sit back and watch the magic!

I uploaded my video to Youtube. Good Luck!

Swing And A Miss

For this assignment I decided to have fun with it. I chose Instant Replay! VideoAssignments1853. I knew I wanted to do a hockey replay but I was not sure how to go about it. I decided I wanted it to be funny so I asked two friends to stay after a game and film me. The first angle you see was shot by Emily ‘Sparky’ Heirs who got a great level with the ice angle. The second angle you see was shot by Heather Burke. She shot like a 45 degree angle.

We tried different angles but the other filmer would end up in the shot. I had the easy job of missing a puck and sliding on the ice. In the end we got some great videos.

My friends shot the video off their phones, so after filming the sent the videos to me. I uploaded them on the my computer then into iMovie. In iMovie I put them in the order I wanted. I then clicked on Titles and added the title and the captions between.

To create the instant replay I just had my friend film it in slow motion using her iPhone. She then sent me the video in slow motion and at regular speed.

After saving the video to my desktop I uploaded it to Google Drive. Now anyone with the link can watch it.

This relates back to my theme of technology in the classroom because I want my students to be able to create video. I created this video which would be fun to share with the class as an example.

I love pets. Back home I have got a dog and a cat. Yes, both of them live under the same roof in peace and harmony :). I have been looking at the video assignments to select one that I would love to try. I looked at the instant replay assignment and I thought why not make an instant replay of a clip from one of the dog shows that I already have on my computer hard disk. So I selected this clip from the Freestyle Flying Disc Winner – 2016 Purina® Pro Plan® Incredible Dog Challenge® Eastern Regionals video. I usually watch video by Dog Challenge Eastern Regional. All the dogs and their owners are really amazing. They give it their best shot. There has to be a winner of course but I consider most of them winners as the winning point margin is not that much greater.  I really like the dog moving backwards towards his owner, therefore I made an instant replay of that specific part of the video. In the following, I have discussed the different steps that I took to make the video instant replay with Windows Movie Maker.

Here is the video clip with an instant replay:

Step 1

1

I opened the Windows Movie Maker and saved the project to my hard disk.

Step 2

2

I added the video clip by clicking the “Add video and photo” button.

Step 3

3

I was going to make an action replay of the video part starting at 11th second on the video timeline. Therefore I clicked on that part on the video timeline and then right clicked in the video to split the video at 11th second.

Step 4

4

I clicked on the video part I wanted to make an action replay of and then from the “Video tab” reduced the speed to 0.5 of the original speed.

Step 5

5

I downloaded a music clip from Free Music Archive and added it to my project. There are many audio effects that can be added to the video from the “Audio tab”. I added a slow fade out audio effect to make the audio smoother.

Step 6

6

I added a title slide to the video from “Title” on the “Home tab”.

Step 7

7

I added Credit slides to the end of the video from “Credits” on the “Home tab”. I added different credits as can be seen at the end of the video.

A guide on opening and closing credits is available here on BBC Website

Step 8

8

I saved the prepared video for YouTube from the “File” drop down menu. Video can be saved with different formats depending on what you need it for.

Caution: Wet Floor

The Work Itself

This video assignment is titled “Instant Replay“, its instructions are to “choose a video or clip of an action, and then pick a part of the original clip and slow it down to create an instant replay.  Show both the original action as well as the slow-mo instant replay! Video editing software, like iMovie can come in really handy for an assignment like this!” It is rated 4/5 stars in terms of difficulty. I downloaded a YouTube prank video and imported it into iMovie. I edited the video to the proper length I wanted it and then edited the actual slip action into a slow motion replay. My video is titled “Caution: Wet Floor“.

The Story Behind The Story

Pranks are fun if you are the one pranking, but not so much if you are being pranked. I have been apart of some great pranks and thankfully have been the pranker more than the pranked. However this prank tops all of mine. My aunt buttered the floor while her son was showering. As you can see, my cousin wipes out and remains down for the count. Let it be known, do not get on my aunt’s bad side or what happened to my cousin could happen to you!

The Process, Narrated

I found a video on YouTube of a prank. I downloaded the video and converted it to a QuickTime video via http://en.savefrom.net/ . I then imported it into iMovie and edited the video to the beginning and ending of the action. I highlighted the section I wanted to put into slow-motion by dragging the yellow bars left and right and then clicked “modify”, then “slow motion”, then “50%”. Here a few photos of my process.

The Pie Caper is on the Loose!

If you are going out today, watch out for that for the guy who is throwing pies in peoples faces! The authorities still haven’t been able to catch him and the footage above is his 10th victim! What you can do to protect yourself is to make sure you are paying attention to all of your surroundings and make sure you are ready to catch him. As you can, see the victim in the video above almost caught him. Will you be able to catch him? IF you are able to, there is a nice reward that includes money and free dry cleaning for the rest of your life!

This four star video assignment was rather simple for me. I was required to take a clip and edit it so it would look like a replay. If you watched the video, you will notice that I did more than just that. I edited in a freeze frame and some rapid shots of the pie hitting the lady’s face to add some more humor to the video. It didn’t take that long to make, but it did take me a bit to think of some audio to add to the intro and on the freeze frame.

To create this video, I mainly used the Split Tool in Sony Vegas to separate all of the parts of the video that I wanted to. Untitled2

I then used the Time Stretch Tool to  add the slow motion effect. Surprisingly, this was my first time actually using that tool and I’m glad it came out well.

Instant Replay: Escalator Edition

“Choose a video or clip of an action, and then pick a part of the original clip and slow it down to create an instant replay.  Show both the original action as well as the slow-mo instant replay! Video editing software, like iMovie can come in really handy for an assignment like this!” – 3.5 Stars

I knew immediately that I wanted to complete this assignment, but I wasn’t sure what clip I wanted to use to do it. I debated back and forth between filming my own bit or using something already on the web and finally decided on something from online. I knew I wanted it to be funny, so I typed “funny videos” into youtube an searched around until I found something good.

I came across this video of people falling on escalators and knew it would be perfect! To download the clip, I went to fastest free youtube down loader. Once it was saved to my computer, I uploaded it to Windows movie maker and got to work.

Editing

The first step in the process involved deciding which part of the clips I wanted to keep and what I wanted to get rid of. I used the split feature (pictured below) to separate the parts the needed to go. I cut out the beginning and end credits and kept only to first guy featured. I also cut out everything except his fall and the few seconds afterwards.

Editing again

I then copied the remaining film clip and pasted it directly after the first. Right next to the split tool above is a speed tool. I clicked that and decided to slow down the clip by .5. The other options were too slow and made the video feel a little awkward.

Saving

Once that was done, I added in an opening title and credit page as specified in the rules for this week. I saved the project and then hit file again and selected save movie in order to save the final piece in a format that can be uploaded to YouTube.

Final Step

I logged in to YouTube and uploaded the finished video. From there, it provides the link to embed the video.

Dennis’ Crash

Dennis’ adventurous life leads to sometime mistakes being made. On Thursday Dennis was biking in France and came across a mountain bike trail that was not what he thought it was going to be. He raced through the trail only to be tricked and to crash. He was followed in his crash by the group he was biking with and this is his helmet cam form the crash. complete with a slow-mo instant replay!

This is a 3.5 star Video Assignment for Ds 106 titled Instant Replay. I did this assignment by finding a video of a mountain bike crash on youtube. I then clipped up the video so that I got jsut the crash. I then copied all the end of the clip and slowed it down and edited it to look the way it does now. This was all done in iMovie (here is a screenshot of the editing process).

*~*Red Reaper Shenanigans*~*

So for one of my video assignments I did the “Instant Replay” project worth 3.5 stars.

I caught sight of The Red Reaper making his rounds and decided to sneak a video of him! He saw me in the end though…

I used the Vegas Movie Studio software to put the video together.

The song used is Supermassive Black Hole by Muse.

Thanks goes to Alex Dudley for filming!

Mia Hamm Goal Instant Replay

For this video assignment I had to find a video clip that I like and create an instant replay of the video clip. I decided to use my favorite soccer clip of Mia Hamm’s 108th international goal in 1999. I love this goal because it broke the record for most international goals scored by a single player. Mia Hamm ended her amazing career with 158 international goals and inspired many girls, including myself, to play soccer.

I enjoyed making this video because I have watched this clip many times and never liked the way they had done the instant replay so I got to make it my own. Overall, I enjoyed making this video and learning how to use Windows Movie Maker.
