The Weather Forecast

I did a silly weather forecast for this assignment. It was supposed to be as if I was a weatherman, but I could make it silly, so I did! However, I didn’t have anyone to film me, and it came out really awkward if I just used my computer to film it with me standing up, so I did it this way instead. But, I think it added to the silliness of it!

Stay dry out there friends!

This is the What’s the Weather in Your Neck of the Woods assignment worth 2 stars.

What’s The Weather In Your Neck Of The Woods?

For video week I was SUPER excited to do this project. The assignment is called What’s The Weather In Your Neck Of The Woods?

I am currently an intern at a news station up in Washington DC so I thought this project was the perfect fit for video week. I got to say the weather! I was a little bummed because I wanted to make it an Apocalypse themed weather update, but that would have been pretty awkward because i work with professionals and they totally would have thought i was super weird.

I hope you like my video! Enjoy :)

For video week!

The Weather is More Unstable Than my Neighbors’ Marriage!

This is my response to the What’s The Weather In Your Neck Of The Woods? assignment. I had to create a video of myself forecasting the weather. Weather is never interesting to watch, so I set out to change that! The most challenging part of this video was probably getting the Cyberlox (the springy tube stuff) into my hair. I had to put my hair into pigtail buns on top of my head, then wrap hair ties attached to the Cyberlox around the buns. Finding a make-shift weather map was pretty fun. I made it from leftover poster board. I tend to be awkward in front of the camera, so I made that a part of the video by becoming a disorganized and under-prepared weather forecaster. There is also a vague plot underneath the events in this video.

Wild Beast on the Scene!

For the mandatory video assignment, I decided to complete “What’s the Weather in your Neck of the Woods?” starring my dog as a wild beast and I as the the news reporter. I first scripted what I wanted to say. Then I got my boyfriend to hold the camera for me while I spoke. During the time I spoke, my younger sister held my dog in her arms then released her for further action. You’ll see in the clip below.

To put everything together, I added the video clips to my Macbook Pro then transferred them to iMovie. Now this was my first time using iMovie so it was very difficult at first, but I slowly got the hang of it. This is because I just recently bought my first Macbook, and I was previously a Windows user, so I was pretty talented with Windows Movie Maker.

Did you create this assignment? If not, which one did you complete? Let me know in the comments below.

The Weather in Tombstone, Arizona

I found this assignment actually quite fun to complete. For this assignment I had to act as a meteorologist and inform my listeners on the upcoming weather conditions. For this week we had to complete ten stars worth of video assignments and at least four of those stars had to revolve around my created western character. As such, for this assignment I acted as my western character, Talie. You can read more about Talie here. I acted as if Talie was the town meteorologist and as such only focused on providing the weather conditions for the little western town where she lives, Tombstone, Arizona. I mostly used realistic weather conditions and added in some comments on how the weather would affect daily activities of those who live in the town. So, if you are interested in the weather in Tombstone, AZ you can tune to DS106 weather channel with Talie, the meteorologist below!

I used my phone to video myself acting out this assignment and then saved it to my computer and uploaded it to youtube which allowed me to embed it here within this post. This assignment was worth two stars.

What’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

For this assignment your job is to make a video of you acting like a meterologist. Tell us what the weather is in your town one day/week; it could be real or completely made up (cloudy with a chance of meatballs anyone?) You could have a posterboard with the weather and point at it like someone would do on TV or you are free to use your immagination. Your goal though it to act like you are on TV presenting this to a live audience. It is your time to shine on the DS Weather Channel!

Give yourself an extra point or two if you actually use a greenscreen and do the weather like a pro!
