Milk and Honey: Video Poem

I don’t like poems. AT ALL. But, if I was forced to read one, I would choose one of Rupi Kaur’s. Her poems are short, easy to comprehend, and are accompanied by a line drawing. She is also a young woman of color, so gotta show support!

The poem I choose was about how Rupi is like water, she can give life and take it away. The dark part of my mind focused on the idea of drowning something, and an idea struck.

Video Poem – Strength

I did the “Video Poem” 3-star video assignment where I record myself reading a poem out loud and use that as a voiceover for a series of clips or a video that relates to the same theme as the poem. I decided to read a poem about strength. It’s called “Strength” by Mrs. M.A. Kidder. I found the poem here https://www.stresslesscountry.com/strengthpoems.html#:~:text=%2015%20Poems%20About%20Strength%20%201%20Strength%0APoet%3A,the%20brighter%3B%0AIf%20any%20little%20song%20of…%20More%20 . I recorded myself reading the poem using audacity, exported the audio as an mp3 file, and then uploaded it as a media file to Premiere Pro. I used OBS to record a motivational YouTube video that someone else made. The original video is below:

I then uploaded that mp4 file to Premiere Pro as well, muted the original audio, and inserted my audio clip as the new audio for the video. Then when I was done, I exported the file as an mp4 file and uploaded it to YouTube below:
