A Powerful Discovery

For my final assignment I chose Remembrance of Things Past (3.5 stars). This assignment said to create a representation of an important childhood location. I decided to go back to the origin story of my character and draw the first moment she was able to use her powers (even if only for a small amount of time).

I used the screen recording software in PowerPoint to record me using paint. Within paint, I used the “crayon” utensil to simulate a young Weather Woman drawing herself in the moment she first used her powers. A moment that seemed so weird to her, but that she would later discover was a important moment in her life. I used freesounds.org to get some drawing sounds, rain, and humming. I changed the pitch of the humming to be higher and seem more childlike. I am really happy with how this turned out. I originally planned to record myself actually drawing this picture when I remembered that paint had a crayon feature. I am really happy with how this turned out. The background sounds make it seem like she is just sitting inside on a rainy day and her subconscious remembered that hot day where a single drop fell from the sky.

Remembrances of Things Past

Recall an important childhood location or scenario. Build a representative replica out of small, available materials such as a sandbox or Legos, or even a drawn map. Make a short, narrated video that tells the story of that world and its features and what happened there. Be passionate, be specific. Don’t be afraid to express the honorable emotions of nostalgia, anger, bewilderment, wonder… (example)
