Lip Sync Assignment

Original Assignment

I chose this assignment because I will take any excuse to listen to more music! I love the band “Haken” and I listen to all of their songs all of the time. They make concept albums which are one long story themselves so I thought they would be perfect for this assignment.

The song is about a person who can’t die, hence the name deathless and it’s amazing how invested I get into the stories of these songs. Some of their songs are up to 20 minutes long so by the end of it theirs been an entire story told and things can get real emotional real quickly. I seriously love this band and I don’t know that my video tells a specific story. The only story it really tells is how much passion I have for this song. I should have recorded myself in the car- that’s where things really get serious and I get into it.

I used Movie Maker to make this video.I just used the webcam feature so there isn’t anything to show off my work other than the final product.

Here I am getting emotional about this song “deathless” by Haken

Bat Opera (VideoAssignments497 3 Stars)

Batman’s favorite song… Opera.  He loves Opera, because it reminds him of a life more peaceful and simple that he lost long ago.  However, it also brings up painful memories of loss, so it’s difficult for him to get through more than a verse or two without breaking into tears.  Hang in there Bman.

Lip syncing

I love to sing but I do not think that I have the best voice in the world so I love to lip sync but every time I do it I get wayyyyyyy to into it. To keep myself from being embarrassed by myself I forced my friend to do it with me (it was not really forcing because she wanted to do it with me anyways).  This was simple because all I did was record us doing the song and put it in windows movie maker and added a sepia filter because I love my skin color in a sepia tone I think it is just gorgeous. With that all said and done here is me and my friend Eniola “singing” Frank Ocean’s Thinkin bout you.

Lip Sync: Taylor Swift

I was really proud of myself on this assignment! I did it in one take and it came out perfectly!! When I saw this lip sync assignment I knew right away which song I was going to do!! Taylor Swift is pretty much the essence of my being…no one judge me!! I want to say she’s [...]

One afternoon, the Fandom Princess was lounging around on her bed, reading a book about a talking rabbit who wanted to be a knight, when she heard three loud knocks at her chamber door. Ghost instantly bounded towards the door and barked. The Princess followed him and opened the door to find that there was nobody there. Instead, placed right on the floor, there was a beautiful bouquet of different colored roses and lilies.

“How sweet,”the Princess said.
She reached down to pick them up and brought them back inside her chambers and into her room she found a little note card that said say the magic words: Tell me of love songs.

She spoke the words, and when she did, the flowers began to suddenly move. Then all in unison, they began to sing in harmony. It was such a beautiful sort of song that the Princess and Ghost both stared at the flowers as it was new treasure. And it was indeed!

She never found out who gave her the singing flowers, but nonetheless, she cared and tendered for them just the same. And for the next few Moon cycles, whenever the Princess was feeling down, or if she was missing her beloved Prince, she would speak the magic words and listen to the lovely flowers sing her songs of love and hope. Well, to kick off this week’s video assignments, I decided to start out easy on myself. Probably the best way to go, since this video stuff is going to prove challenging. Anyway, I decided to start off with an easy 2-star assignment called Lip Synch Your Favorite Song. Now, a little background on this video before I jump into the technical stuff.

My friend Candace is a fan and kind of in love with Ke$ha. Not in the sense that she thinks she’s a good singer or anything like that, thank God, but she likes her style and thinks she’s kind of fun. Whatever, to each his (or her) own. We got bored one day and decided to look up parodies to any of her songs, which is what we like to do a lot of the time. I should add here that I am a big fan of, when I’m procrastinating, lip synching like a fool to songs, so this assignment really was going to be easy.

Anyway, back to the story. We found this video of two girls who had parodied the Ke$ha song “Tik Tok” and it made us die of laughter. We decided that we would try to imitate that video because we loved how the two girls in it were dancing and acting out the lyrics to the song as well as actually lip synching it (we struggled there for a moment with that because we got so caught up in dancing that sometimes we would forget to actually lip synch. The whole process of filming actually took a really long time, let me tell you.)

So, we found some clothes of ours to imitate the two girls, had our other friend, Jane Claire, play the song for us, and also asked if she would be responsible for recording the video for us as well. We next had to practice by watching the video countless times to make sure that we would get everything correct, down to the last action that was going on in the video. We would watch the video, then film a bit, watch it, then film, then, as we realized that wasn’t working out as effortlessly as we would have wanted, we decided to just try and film the whole thing all the way through.

From there, we didn’t really need to edit anything, and we were pretty proud of the end result:

This video tells a story in multiple ways, in my opinion. Not only are we retelling the story that the actual song is telling, but by reenacting the interpretation of the two girls in the parody and adding our own spin on it, we were able to tell a slightly different story that still managed to stay along the same story line!

Lip Synch Your Favorite Song

For my fourth video assignment this week I did lip synch your favorite song which was worth two stars. The rules for this assignment were to pick a verse of a song and do a lip synch for it.

As soon as I saw this assignment I was quite excited for it.  I sing along to songs in my car like a crazy and me and my sisters have been know to make up hand motions to a couple too many songs.  I got help from my friend Mia on this assignment.  I had some serious computer issues this week so she let me record some stuff on her computer and since she was here she decided to go ahead and be in my video as well.

We picked the song We are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift to do our lip synch too.  We are both kind of obsessed with Taylor (which I am sure you can tell I am if you watch any of my videos this week) so this was an easy choice for us.

To make this video we simply played the song while we recorded ourselves lip synching along in iMovie.  Weirdly enough we didn’t really feel all that silly doing it and had a fun time making ourselves look crazy.  I had to cut the beginning and end of our videos to make it so that only the song was apart of the video.  We had a good amount of giggling before and after in the originally copy.

Here is our lip synch.  Enjoy!

Eleven stars down and five to go!

Lip syncing: My best kind of singing

Lip Sync to your Favorite Song

This one was painful for me to do. I recorded myself lip syncing to P!ink’s “Who Knew”.    I was super uncomfortable in front of the camera but I tried to put some pep in my performance. I chose this song because it has some sass to it and I love belting it out when it comes on. This one was pretty simple, I just recorded myself on my laptop, which explains the crappy quality, and then edited it in movie maker.

2 stars.

Video Assignment #3

The lip synch! woot!

This was the most fun to do. I initially wanted to do it to Carole King’s Way Over Yonder. However, that was WAY too depressing for ds106 (and I already associate that song with funerals..bad). Instead, I dug into what songs are really fun to sing. BETSY Q!!!! Yes, that crazy lady that visited my elementary school every year with the piano and the crazy songs and the berets and yeah, you get the point. And classically, the one I most remember is the I Say No Rap about anti-drugs.

I love to rap. A lot. So I turned on my webcam. I opened iTunes and downloaded the rap. I played it from my library after turning the webcam on. Once I was done lip synching, I just saved the video. It automatically went onto my videos on my hard-drive.  I put it on youtube. This is YouTube gold. Although not Nicole337 material, because I realized that she ACTUALLY sings her songs herself.

PROBLEMS: My daggone body movements were a lot harder to do. I was not sure if I should include hand motions or not, so I stayed pretty simple. I also had a hard time remembering the number of ‘nos’ in the rap. But I LOVE BETSY Q and have since I was five years old. This rap is gold. I love it. I have probably sung that song over 1000 times because it is so fun!

I hope you guys like it. Here it is:

Also, it is VERY embarrassing. Like I felt like I was getting in touch with my middle school self and crossing that off the bucket list.

Lip Sync!

Im a huge 50 cent fan and there is not a better song to play if you want to get the party started than Just A Lil Bit. I spitted the hot lyrics while my friends broke out the hottest dance moves your baby eyes have ever seen so here is the world premiere of Just A Lil Bit performed by Pooledaddy feat. DJ Maltlicker (aka $oft $erve) & The Freshman Slayer (aka Cottonball Dan)…Enjoy!
