5 Seconds of fame: Tik Tok edition

This assignment was to create a short film of 5 seconds and try to make it funny. I was looking through my camera roll for videos and the shortest ones were usually tik toks I had made with my friends, I couldn’t chose just one that I thought was funny so what I did was compile two of the videos which are shorter than 5 seconds each into almost a “compilation video”. I did this using video editor on my computer and added a cover slide. The audio for the second video started to lag once I uploaded it to my computer so it plays earlier than the video. What you should actually be hearing is the loud bang at the time that my foot hits the wall because that’s exactly what happened. I thought these videos were funny and something light everyone needed for their week.

Assignment Bank 1 (Week Ten):

5 Seconds of Fame

For this assignment, I was instructed to make a five second film drawing from my own life experiences. I decided that I wanted to shed some life on two of my favorite things: my boyfriend Thomas and coffee. Below is my finished product and how I created it:

  1. Since the video was only supposed to be 5 seconds, I decided that using snapchat would be the easiest recording tool to use!
  2. I seized the moment over breakfast at this mom and pop diner and recorded my coffee/Thomas. Disclaimer: Thomas had no idea I was going to record him.
  3. I saved the snapchat video, uploaded it to my computer, and lastly uploaded it to vimeo!

5 Seconds Of Fame

The challenge for this assignment was to make a 5 second funny video. It was just like making a vine. For my video I decided to expose how gross my roommate is. Sorry for the language.

5 Seconds of Fame

Do you know how much John Brown hates to read any books? For this assignment, I decided to show his hate of reading.

The assignment called 5 Seconds of Fame (2 points) was to create 5 seconds video. Since it only has to be 5 seconds, I used Vine to complete this assignment. Before I do this, I had hard time to figure out how should I do this assignment. But after idea, it was really easy and simple assignment.

Before I upload it to Youtube, I opened with iMovie to put title page in front of the video, after that process, I uploaded it to Youtube and then I was going to put background music, but realized that it would be hard to hear the scream so I did not put it.

The last scene is he just gave up with reading and just lied down on the couch to relax.

5 Seconds Of Fame

5 Seconds Of Fame: 2 stars

For this assignment, we were required to take a 5 min video. This video that i made is of my roommates dog Ruger. He is a year and a half old chocolate lab who is also an amazing hunting dog. Now that duck season is over, he is either in his cage or hanging out with us. I used my phone for this video so sorry if the quality is bad.

Silly dogs!

This assignment was to create a 5 second frame. Here I created a film, debuting my dogs! One thing my parents do not like that I do with them, is feed them human food. One day at dinner, I told my parents I taught them to eat corn off the cob. They didn’t believe me, so we proved it!

Process:

I recorded the videos on my phone and then uploaded them to iMovie.

Once they were in iMovie I trimmed them both to make the video under 5 seconds. Then I decided to put some background music, to make it a little more interesting. I added Neon, which was already preloaded in iMovie. Then I hit share to vimeo!

5 Second Film: Caesar is Rude (5 Seconds of Fame **)

Yet another video that shows how Caesar is a jerk sometimes. You try to say something to him and he walks off! How rude!

Dialogue:
Caesar: “What’s up Amber! I gotta ask you something!”
Me: “Hi puppy!”
Caesar:”…oh wait…I forgot. Nevermind.”

This video pretty much sums up my dog’s personality in 5 seconds. This was created for the “5 Seconds of Fame” video assignment where you had to make some aspect of your life funny, but only in 5 seconds.  This footage actually came from a larger home video that I’d taken with my family during New Years. As I was walking around my house with the camera, Caesar came up to me, acting like he wanted something or had something to say to me. Instead when I tried to greet him, he suddenly forgot what he came to me for and left. What’s funny is he did the exact same thing in his puppy video where he was playing with a squeaky toy and he suddenly lost interest in it and left it. I guess he’s got the attention span of an armpit…

I tried to match the 5 Second Film style as much as possible by having the same opening/closing font and durations. I used Final Cut Pro to make this rather than iMovie because I needed the exact font layout (Lucida Grande, Centered) if I wanted to stay true to the style. Sadly when I recorded this I was using an IPod Touch, and it was turned sideways. That’s why the irremovable black bars of death are on the sides.

I liked this assignment because showed that one doesn’t need a 20min long sitcom to be funny, and that simplicity is all one really needs. 5 seconds could be worth 1000 words!

When life gives you a banana…

This is video assignment 598, it is called “5 seconds of fame.” It is worth 2 stars. The description was:

“Make a five second film. Try to keep it funny! This assignment was inspired by 5secondfilms.com. I suggest you draw from your own life experiences of strange but funny moments.”

My roommate and I were just trying to make a silly video for our friend’s 21st birthday, and things got kind of strange. I didn’t intend to do this assignment but I felt like this video of our life was something I just had to share :) When I saw this assignment, I knew I had to do it!!!!

We were dancing around like goofballs and then somehow a banana came into the mix. We should have known that was a recipe for weirdness. I was wearing a scarf as a dress (I have no clue how I got talked into that one) and my roommate tried to stick the banana down my dress but it got stuck on the bottom instead, looking very inappropriate. But it was hilarious as it happened, we still crack up whenever we watch this video. I hope you enjoy it as well!

I edited the video down quite a bit. It is a little longer than 5 seconds but so was the example, I hope that is okay (I think it will be worth it). After I had the portion I wanted, I added a title slide and a credits slide. This assignment was pretty simple to complete especially because it just happened naturally.

Thanks for watching! :)
