Where Are They Now?

Video Assignment

To complete my final project I chose to do a video of pictures and other video clips of who and what Brooke Davis has made of herself from the time she started filming the first episode of One Tree Hill, to the made up afterlife of Brooke after the finale of One Tree Hill was aired. I chose video clips that highlighted important, life changing and memorable times throughout her life. I wanted it to show the type of person Brooke Davis is, and threw a quote in there stating “Behind every successful woman is herself” because it seems that fits her perfectly. She never gave up as her character in One Tree Hill, with her love life, schooling, cheerleading and clothing line. This quote took her where she got invited to the biggest fashion show ever, New York Fashion Week. She is the reason she became as successful as I made her turn out after the show.

I used Freemake video converter to create this video from the pictures and videos I decided to use. I added each and every picture/video I wanted to use first, then I made sure the option to join files together was “on” so that I could transform everything into one video and have good transitioning as well. I also used the editing button to cut out the parts of the videos I chose, to just the minutes or seconds I wanted that showed off Brooke and who she was. After all the editing was complete, I went to the top toolbar and clicked convert, and chose the option Mp4 and chose okay, which automatically converts this video to a video that can be opened up with any software and save to my computer.

Then and Now

For 4 stars, I did the assignment where are they now. The point is to pick a TV show or movie that you know of or loved when you were younger, and show photos or clips of them in the past, and in the present. I choose to do Boy Meets World. Who doesn’t remember that show? I watched it for years, and then re-watched it. It taught me a lot about life, and made me laugh, and cry, it is just one of those shows that stick with you. I composed a video slide show of the cast then and now, and you get brownie points if you know the song playing in the background.

In case you forgot the hilarity that Boy Meets World is composed of I put a clip below I found on youtube of Eric Matthews and his best Mr. Feeny calls. Also a little up to date information; there is a current spin off of Boy Meets World called Girl Meets World. It is Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel’s daughter, and it will have the original cast in and out as guest stars.

You can’t handle the truth…of what happened to these characters!

For one of the video assignments, I thought it would be fun to complete Where are they now?

“Don’t you hate how some movies just leave you hanging!! Do you ever wonder what happens to the characters next? Well this is your chance to let the world know where they are today! Choose a movie and then create some type of video update on the characters current life. Use pictures, video clips, drawings; whatever you want and compile them into a video.”

I chose the end of the courtroom scene of A Few Good Men, although the video clip does not show all of the characters for whom I created a “where-are-they-now?” story.

I used Savefrom.net to download the A Few Good Men video clip from YouTube.  Then I searched for photos and videos using Google. I selected the actors that I knew had a diversity of work post-A Few Good Men. This made it easy to make up a “where-are-they-now?” story.  See matrix below:

Actor Character Where are they now? Movie/Video Clip Source
Kevin Bacon CAPT Jack Ross Became an astronaut and flew with Forrest Gump to establish first colony on Saturn Apollo 13
Tom Cruise LT Daniel Kaffee Couldn’t contain his happiness at being exonerated from “..f+++g the wrong Marine” and jumped on Oprah’s couch. Decided to become a rock star Oprah and Rock of Ages
Demi Moore LCDR Joanne Galloway Had an affair with an enlisted sailor and was kicked off the Navy JAG Corps N/A
Jack Nicholson COL Nathan R. Jessup Still in jail and mad for not being able to “piss on [Kaffee’s] dead skull.” The Shining and Batman
Kevin Pollak LT Sam Weinberg Became a professional poker player N/A.
Keifer Sutherland LT Jonathan Kendrick Bitten by a banana rat and became a vampire. Feeds off detainees in Guantanamo Bay. The Lost Boys

Before I went on my first trip to Guantanamo Bay, I kept getting asked whether I had seen A Few Good Men. I had only seen it once before and the first scene that always came to mind is Jack Nicholson yelling, “You can’t handle the truth!” For this assignment, I wanted to pick a different clip, not that one. I’ve seen the movie a few more times and it is inextricably linked to my memories of Guantanamo Bay. Here are a few of my favorite photos:Click to view slideshow.

Some People Change

For my last assignment of this final story was the Where Are They Now? {**} video assignment. I wanted to show everyone where the characters of this final story ended up. What changed, who changed, who stayed the same?? You’ll learn it all now :) I just hate when people don’t update the viewers on where the characters are now. That is the worst thing in movies. {Although now I know that stories can be open-ended and that’s ok.}

I got pictures of the main characters: Sabrina, Libby, and Valeria {Sabrina’s best friend} from back when the show aired {1997ish} and now. I thought it was important to show the viewers just how much everyone has changed. I put these pictures together in my Windows Movie Maker. Side note: throughout this class, I have fallen in love with Windows movie maker. I never knew what it could do, I just had it on my computer. Now, I use it all the time. I’m preparing a movie/slide show for my graduation party with it!!!! I just love it. Ok, back to the story :)

I added captions to each character’s then and now pictures. This part needed to be funny. After all, this is how I’m ending my story. I don’t want the traditional “and they lived happily ever after” ending. Actually I think we’re banned from doing that or we’ll get a bad grade. Regardless, I wanted to make it funny.

Once I was done editing the video {changing transitions, font, color, and adding music}, I uploaded it to Vimeo and viola:

Stay tuned for my my final story – putting all the pieces together!!!

Ds106 #1

I chose to do the video project of Where Are They Now. The idea was to choose a movie and follow up on where the characters are today. I chose The Breakfast Club. http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/where-are-they-now/

The post on DSW can be followed to the link below.

Way back when

then and now!

*Digging through!

One of the assignments I picked was Where are they now? Just ’cause I couldn’t resist picking one of my favorite casts and totally morphing them by picking their futures! For this, I used iMovie and Google images to my fullll advantage! I picked one of my favorite movies, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days but definitely got silly with it. I use the billboard theme to make it fun and the song Good Riddance to make it somewhat nostalgic. Basically, Andie (Kate Hudson) dumped Ben (Matthew McConaughey), and although she is still reallly hot, while getting her dream job, he lost a bunch of weight and became obsessive. He’s been arrested 4 times for stalking her, funny how he turned into the obsessive one! Jeannie (Annie Parisse) became a total fashion mogul, and now travels all over the world but she still keeps in really good touch with Andie, her BFF. Tony (Adam Goldberg) ended up owning the company that he, Ben and Thayer worked for, as well as coming out of the closet! His boyfriend’s name is Rodolfo; they own two houses and a poodle named Elenore. Michele (Kathryn Hanh) remains funny as ever! Except now she shares her humor with her husband, who never takes her for granted like the douches in the movie. Finally, Thayer!…Quit his job because it wasn’t the same to him with Benjamin and he became a rent-a-cop, mostly to help Ben stalk Andie but keep his cover about it.

This assignment was made possible by iMovie, which I used to add in all the pictures and create the entire show. This was a nice 2 ?’s!

Where are they now?? Challenge (2 Stars)

Okay, so this was my first video assignment, and boy, oh boy, was it hard! This baby took me so long to do, and only for 2 stars??? I’ve gots a long way to get to 16! Anyways, for this assignment, I decided to look into the future of the characters from Gossip Girl. Here’s what I came up with:

Lemme tell you, I spent so long on this little video clip! I think it’s because I’ve never used iMovie before on my computer, so I was trying to teach myself at the same time (I’m kinda stubborn when it comes to asking for help… hehe). Okay, so here are the steps for how I made this video:

  1. Start with the GG opening scene. I knew I wanted to start my video with the classic GG opening scene, so I went on good ol’ Youtube, and found this clip:

I downloaded it with the help of PwnYouTube and was able to drag and drop it into my project area thingy (not sure what it’s called… work space? IDK)

  2. Find pictures of people, edit them on Pixlr, and import them into iMovie. So, I googled around for images on the actual actors and actresses from Gossip Girl and researched to see what they were doing. I thought it would be funnier if I actually connected what the characters did in their futures with what the actors/actresses were doing now (since it is almost a year since the show ended). But I did still have some fun with it, by adding in jokes (like how Ed and Chase were together and how Taylor was a vampire. None of that is true… although I’m still not sure about Taylor, ha ha). After I found the photos and added text via Pixlr, I scratched my head for a little while trying to figure out how to put them on iMovie. After minutes of getting super angry at my computer, I succeed by just clicking the file and dragging and dropping it into iMovie. God, who knew it would be so simple?
  3. Place credits at the end. I wanted to do this because 1. it was required, and 2. so I could give credit where credit was due (and also give myself credit since I’m egotistical like that :P ). I chose the scrolling credits from the options on iMovie, and then added in the text. Nothing too hard here.
  4. Add music. I knew I wanted to add music during the parts where it was just pictures and credits. Why? It would be super lame and boring to the audience! I picked one of GG’s iconic songs that played pretty much during every scene of the show. It took me a while to find because I didn’t know the song name, but I eventually found it on YouTube. It’s called “Steps of The Met” by the Transcenders. Here’s the clip I used:

I simply downloaded it via PwnYouTube, opened it with MPEGStreamclip, took the audio and saved it as an m4a file, and opened it in iMovie. From there, I was able to make it so the audio only played during the photo scenes and the credits. Yay!

And here’s the finished project on my iMovie screen:

What do you guys think? Anyone who watched GG, what did you think was going to happen to the characters after the series? Leave a comment!

XOXO ;)

Then & Now***

This assignment, called Where Are They Now??, called to create a video of movie character’s updated lives.  I chose Harry Potter, because there were so many character’s to update and it was a favourite movie of mine when I was a kid.  I grew up with these character’s , so it was funny to see where they’ve ended up presently.

I chose to do six characters: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Neville, and Ginny. I used bing to find images of them now and thought of a made-up update for them.  I used Powerpoint to create the title slide, which I screen captured and opened in Windows Movie Maker.  I then opened each of those images and added the text.  Finally, I used Audacity to trim the Harry Potter theme song and fade it in and out.  I put it all together in Movie Maker and published it on YouTube.

Everybody’s Changing

For the first video assignment, I chose Where Are They Now? {**}. During week 9, I planned this assignment out so all I had to do was create it! I based this assignment from the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Here is the finished product:

I created this with Windows Movie Maker. I had never used this before, but it was very simple. You can click to uploaded pictures, audio, and even videos. You can even add the text to the picture right from this program. I downloaded the audio from YouTube and got the pictures from searching on Google. I uploaded it to YouTube through Windows Movie Maker.

I wanted to do this assignment because I hate how movies kind of just end and the directors don’t tell you what ever happened to the character(s) that you fell in love with. Some movies have sequels and some have triologies, quadrilogies, and so on. {I feel like if you don’t know what a movie sequence is called because the number is so high up, you shouldn’t make the movie.}

At first, I just google searched the actresses’ names. I tried to look for funny pictures maybe from the paparazzi. I found some good ones and even some that looked photoshopped. I wanted the pictures to be funny so that my update on the girls could be funny. After all, this class is based upon imagination and creativity. It would have been boring if I told the truth. I credited the website in which I found the photos on the credits section of my movie.

The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is a classic and the characters all very unique. I didn’t know much about what the real actors did after the movie so I thought I’d combine pictures and characters from the movie and combine it with current pictures of the actors and made up occupation.
