Inanimate Motion

For my third video assignment this week I did Inanimate Motion which was worth three stars. This assignment was to take an object that doesn’t move and put it together in a bunch of small clips to make it seem like it was moving.

When I was looking though examples for this I saw that a lot of people were using animals of some kind to make this and I decided I wanted to go in a bit of a different way.  I was in the middle of shipping a package to my friend and decided that I was going to use that as my inanimate object that I would make seem like it had motion.

To record this video I used an app on my iPhone called vine.  This app allows you to record a bunch of small clips just by touching your screen.  You have about seven seconds of video that you can record and each time you touch your screen it records what the camera is facing.  I wished that I could’ve made my video a little bit longer but I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

I started with the empty box and then added a few things at a time.  I wanted it to seem like things were multiplying in the box with each shot that I took.  I then closed the box up and took a video of the box from all its sides to make the box look like it was spinning.

Here is my finished video:

Nine stars down and seven to go!

Stripes Everywhere***

As soon as I read this title, I knew I wanted to do this assignment.  Inanimate Motion calls to create a movie story of an inanimate object.  Being at college, I didn’t have too many toys to choose from, BUT, I do love tigers so I have a small toy tiger and my tiger Pillow Pet.  I also a small wooden frog as their “friend.”

I really didn’t know what the plot of my story was going to be, so I just started taking photos of the small tiger walking across the table.  I decided that the frog would be a “friend” the tiger comes across and pounces on, but then “big brother” comes over and shoos the little tiger away and helps protect the frog.

I chose a song from The Lion King called Hakuna Matata, because in the movie (even though its lions not tigers!), the song represents a fun and playful time.

6/16 stars

I thought this assignment would be a lot harder, but I actually found it to be pretty easy and a lot of fun! I definitely recommend it to anyone who has 15 minutes free time to just goof around!

Video Assignment – Inanimate Motion

I made my own inanimte motion using my Gundam model figures for the action sequence and the sound effects were recorded from Bruce Lee’s film “Game of Death”. I use the stand that it provides along the model to make it cheesy for some certain scenes.

Don’t Mess With the Squarepants

For my final project, I’m working on a media mess of projects all about Spongebob’s Best Day Ever.  I decided to create my own assignment for this to kick it off.  I’m going for incredibly cheesy and over-the-top, so I settled on this idea as a perfect fit.

Picture this: Spongebob’s dancing along, whistling to the music playing in his head, enjoying his Best Day Ever, when all of a sudden, *dun dun DUUUNNNNN*

…he runs into the evil Queen Rubber Duckie!  Instantly, he transforms into karate-master Spongebob and whacks the evil queen into oblivion.  Joy and peace are restored to Bikini Bottom once more, and Spongebob does a bouncey dance in celebration as the scene spins off into the rest of the unknown happiness of Spongebob’s Best Day Ever.

It’s a beautiful sight. <3

This is my very own brand-spanking shiny new Video Assignment that I named Inanimate Motion, worth 3 stars.

REVISIT!

I had to come back.  After viewing my own assignment on YouTube, I clicked on another link that populated after mine (in the usual manner in which we all get sucked down the rabbit hole of YouTube).

I shouldn’t have been surprised to find that I was completely shown up.  I guess I’m not, really.  And I don’t know that I’m necessarily ashamed, either.  I’m proud of my little amateur crap, because I made it. :D   So there.

Still, it seems necessary to go ahead and show you what the professionals look like when they do this assignment.  So, here ya go:

‘Bring joy to the world, it’s the thing to do, cuz the world doesn’t revolve around you.
Don’t be a jerk!
It’s Christmas!’

:)

Inanimate Motion

Take successive photos of inanimate objects and put them together in a way that it makes at least one inanimate object move. Make it tell a story!! Bonus points for an epic sound track attached. The idea here is bringing something inanimate to life through the power of video, without taking away the fact that the object in motion is obviously not supposed to be able to move on its own. Make it cheesy, make it awesome, make it rock.
