4 Icon Challenge

So this is my first attempt at one of the Submit an Assignment challenges, and I chose the movie version of the 4 Icon project.  Nacho Libre has been my favorite movie forever, and in my opinion it’s incredibly underrated.  I had a ton of fun doing this, it felt more like goofing off and thinking about movies than actually doing work.  Unfortunately I’m not good enough on a computer so it’s hand-drawn, but I think the point still comes across.  Couple more Submit an Assignments to follow, stay tuned…

designpick II

this was the last movie i saw so…..

I think it turned out pretty good; the butterfly I think could have been a little better.  I had to use MS Paint as I am still in search of an equivalent program for Mac.  I did demo Sketchbook which is nice but still has limitations.   I’m going to try another program this weekend.  The process was pretty simple and the icon images were free-handed which was probably the most difficult part.

Four Icon Challenge!

I admit that I’m a bit late to jump on this bandwagon, but it looked like fun and I wanted to update with SOMETHING. It didn’t take that long, but I wound up asking Mauve and Twitterless Boy for feedback because, naturally, I got stuck on the last one. I knew what I wanted to impart, but I didn’t want it to be too complex or specific.

So here you go: Guess the movie.

I might just do another.

Nanner goes to NY with me :)

I did the visual assignment of taking a buddy with you everywhere you go and I choose this one because this weekend I went to New York so it was  lot of fun to photograph Nanner everywhere I went.  Unforunately Nanner is not with us anymore but he sure was a great companion for 4 days :)  To view all the pictures and details click on the first one and you will see a slide show :) ENJOY and tell me what you think :)

The Four Icon Challenge

I am a big fan of Bollywood movies, so it’s only fitting that I create a Four Icon post for a classic Bollywood film.  I am  betting that no one will get this, only because I don’t know how many DS106-ers actually watch these films.  But give it a try please.  I made my icons in Paint, and it was kind of difficult. I had to scrap my work a few times.–But don’t you just love it! Ok the images are as follows if you can’t tell by the drawing: a picture frame with picture, broken vase, sweet shop (aka dessert store), telephone.

Featured Film:  Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

If anyone needs Bollywood film suggestions let me know–I can help you get hooked!

Album Cover: Brallobarbitol

I did the album cover assignment with this result:

I thought it was amusing. Edited with Picasa. That’s one dramatic pidgeon.

Strangers #5 and #6

stranger #5
This little girl was at a birthday party for some family friends. She alternated between closing her eyes and sticking out her tongue (in a non-annoying way that made me like her more) and that real smile.

Her older sister was there too but she was old enough to pose. She smiled but it wasn’t real. She said she didn’t like her smile. That was a pretty depressing statement for an 8 year old to make. Already self-conscious.

stranger #6 - computer lab
This picture was taken in the computer lab in the building where I teach night classes. Tien Shu (spelling? seemed rude/stalker-ish to ask) is a math major. She seemed fine with having the picture taken but there might have been a communication problem. I asked her a few small talk questions but all I got were smiles and nods . . not sure if it was a language issue, or just too much time in the computer lab. It was not as satisfying as a number of the other shots but I do like that she manages to smile with just the lines on her face. Her lips remain completely straight.

It is interesting for me to look at this series all together. I wonder if the closeness of the photographs relates to my comfort level or that of the subject. I need to go back and see how much cropping I did on these. I think most are full frame.

It’s also worth noting that I chicken out on a lot of these potential photographs. I find excuses not to bother the person or whatever.

Four icon challenge 2

After check the old 4 icons challenge, I decide to make a new one with icons drawn by me, using the idea of movie poster.
And yes, the same movie like the movie poster :)

Four Icon Challenge

OK. Name that film.
