Giant Wafflestomping

I imagine this is the bug’s eye view when The Wafflestomper comes around hiking. I really wanted to get some of the lugged sole in the image, so I played around with sliding it to the edge of an elevated surface.  I could get the camera lens under the boot better that way, which gave […]

Ball is life

Chris Rene always say, “Got to love life.” It’s true, you only live once so why not love life right now? I’m loving life right now. I’m going to a good school, made tons of new friends, eating as I usually should, and having fun. Especially working out and I use this every time I play a basketball game and it’s a basketball.

The assignment that I had to do is basically take a picture of an everyday object and make it look larger than life. I took a picture of my basketball. I used my cell phone to take the picture. Everyone knows that I love basketball so much. I played since I was a little kid. When I started playing, I just loved it when I started making my first few shots at my old elementary school. I still play basketball now. I’ll never stop playing basketball. One of my favorite quotes of all time: Rudy Tomjanovich said, “Never underestimate the heart of a champion!”

Size Matters

For my next Visual Assignment (I have lost count at this point haha) I decided to do “Larger than Life.” I chose it because I was like oh this will be easy, I like taking pictures in different perspectives to see how they turn out. Yeah, well I was wrong. It wasn’t as easy as it seemed, especially with live subjects.

How I did it:

Weeeeell, I started out just taking close up pictures of my boyfriend’s dog and that didn’t work because there was nothing to compare her to. Then I remembered that you have to have something to compare your subject to in order for you to be able to tell perspective. I took a bunch of pictures–probably close to 50–trying different angles and things of that nature but these four turned out the best, in my opinion. I couldn’t pick just one (and yes I know they only count as doing this assignment one time). Well here is a collage of the pictures that I took (I made them into a collage using iPiccy on the internet).

My attempt at "Larger than Life" #visualassignments #visualassignments1028

I like the top left one because you can compare the food bowl and the cat to the shelf in the background. I like the top right because you can compare the cat (who is gigantic anyway–about 25 pounds) to the computer and the chair in the background. The one of the dog in the bottom left is good, in my opinion, because of the ground and how close it is to her nose and then the couch in the background. The ring one is actually the first that I took out of this group but I wasn’t completely satisfied with it. I guess maybe because you can almost tell what I was doing with it. But the more I look at it the cooler I think it looks.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed these!

Week 1 Visual Assignment #1 – Larger Than Life

Keyboard

Imagine you, three inches tall, standing in front of a massive keyboard and an even larger monitor off in the distance.

I chose to make my favorite keyboard larger than life because it isn’t just what I use to type things as part of my user interface – it’s a medium, a set of buttons that can be used to make truly wonderful things, just like colored pencils or watercolor paints might. Keyboards themselves were one of the first tools included as part of a true home computer, and it has stuck around as an interface staple for well over 40 years. I think that it will continue to stick around, no matter how advanced voice commands become or what other advances are made, even if it ends up going completely virtual like we’re already seeing in tablets.

Larger than life.

Basketball was a huge part of my life as a child. I entered that leagues that even awarded the worst of team. This was my first trophy.

Tower of light in darkness

Never thought a fan could be so ominous. The fan that will blow you away! The best part about this image is I wasn’t going to use it. It didn’t look as impressive on the camera preview. I put it though Corel, my photo editing program, and it looked perfect. Forget it’s a fan for a second and imagine it rotating ever so slowly. Cool or creepy, I dunno yet.

Towering lamp

Lamps may look small when you look at them head on, but when you look at them from below and up close they appear much large. This lamp is dominating the photo
