Love at First Shot

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/love-at-first-shot/).

I chose this picture because it doubled on the word play for shot, given it is a photo shoot and there are guns. Besides the goofy double use I actually like this picture for a couple. I like it because they are together and confident about being together despite how silly they look, which is something I feel should be a part of love rather than arbitrary “couples actions.” They also go for contrasting colors in this shot with the white in black, emphasizing not only their individuality, but how those two individual people compliment each other.

Love at First Tinder

When I first looked at the assignment prompt, I can honestly say I was not excited. It just didn’t seem all that fun. I knew I wanted to try and make it funny but I didn’t know how so I first went to go look at pictures. I was originally going to use a picture that my friends gave me of them, but when I looked on google, literally just typed couples, I found it. I found the perfect picture.

Meet Matt and Linda. They met February 2016, on tinder.

His profile said: “I like to take long walks on the beach and binge watch Netflix”
Her profile said: “My perfect date is a walk on the beach and Netflix.”

She swiped right, he also swiped right. Love at first swipe indeed.

If you asked their friends and family where they met though, they will tell you at a coffee shop in downtown Fredericksburg. How romantic.

Love at First Shot

The love at first shot assignment instructed me to find or take a pic of a couple in love and use the picture to tell a story. While I was looking for a picture, it is crazy how many of couples in love showed up so I picked a random picture of a couple in front of a sunset. This was actually really fun especially creating a background in which I am sure that was not why the picture was formed. At first I had no idea of what direction I was going with the story but as soon as I stared at the picture the story came to me and I started typing. Not long after I had my story of ” Love at first Shot”:

The story had started with a tragic start. This tragic beginning was that the couple was both in an accident, the girl had come out of it unharmed. However the boy had not. The doctors had said to the girl that it was an unlikely chance that the boy would wake up from the coma. Months had past, the girl continues to cry everyday over him. Her parents noticed that it was not healthy for her to be sad everyday and told her that it was time to say goodbye to him. In turn the girl agreed and went to say goodbye to him at the hospital one last time:

girl: ” Hi Daniel, I know I come here everyday to get you to wake up and to no avail you have not so it has been months and I am here for the last time to say fight, fight please.”

boy: “…”

girl: ” Please wake up”

the girl had given hope and eventually left but if she had she stayed a little longer she would have noticed the boy wake up by hearing her voice speaking her name as the first words that came out of his mouth.

boy: ” …. Hailey..”

The girl still in grieve went to the couple’s favorite space, the beach, to say her finally goodbyes so she can move on to her life. While staring out into the ocean, there was a man in the distance walking slowly to her with the help of his nurses trying to call her name. The girl was done saying her goodbyes and turned to leave still not hearing the boy. The boy finally close screamed her name. The girl, not believing, hears it and turns around. She sees him and breaks down in tears and runs to him. They met up and embrace and kissed.

girl: ” Daniel is this you?”

boy: ” yes and I promise to never leave you again”

Love at first Skype

Two of my best friends from high school have been dating for more than 4 years now. Abby goes to JMU while Billy has received an associate’s degree from community college and is now in the National Guard, stationed in Qatar. He’s been there for almost a year now and is less than a month from making his way home. Abby isn’t shy about posting her feelings on social media and this is just the most recent of my photos she’s taken of their Skype dates while he’s been away. I was actually in a class together with them, a gym class, when they started dating. He asked her to prom our senior year and they’ve been madly in love since. Very soon after he returns home, a proposal is likely to soon follow. I have never seen a more perfect couple and I doubt I will later in my life.

Cute couple

This is one of the pictures I found when I typed, “cute couple” on Google. Besides the fact that they are cute indeed, they look like the people who are kind and understanding. Here is the story I made up:

Guy: Hey Melissa, I really like you very much! Can you be my girlfriend?

Girl: Of course, Ben. But on one condition; can you promise me that you will be at the same eye level with me?

Guy: What do you mean?

Girl: Well, I am relatively short, but I still want to see your cute face! I don’t want to wear heels all the time because my feet will hurt if I walk on bricks all the time. I can’t ask you to cut down your height, since your height is not like weight that you can drop, so I want to ask if you can compromise with me in a way that will work for both of us.

Guy: Sure Melissa! That is no problem. It can be solved very easily–I can just bend down a little bit and I can see your pretty face this way! My back may hurt a little but I don’t have to buy shoes like you. We would both be compromising since we sacrifice ourselves a little bit, but it won’t be a big deal since I’ll just walk straight afterwards. What do you think?

Girl: That sounds great! Can we celebrate by taking a picture?

Guy: Sure! Let’s take a picture in front of those trees to signify our affinity for each other that would never change.

Girl: Yup! Now let me see your face…

Love at first shot

The cowboy had ridden for miles, and his lover couldnt tell if it was him or his horse who looked more worn out. He had heard from a neighbor that she had ran away from home to find him, and he knew this was his last chance to be with his love again. He found her on the outskirts of town, alone and worried, but the second their eyes met its like they had never been apart. The moment they embraced he vowed to her that he would never let her out of his sight again, and their love burned deeper than ever.

I really had fun with this one, but I cant deny that I wasnt getting kinda sappy when looking through all of the pictures of the couples. Its fun to see people happy and in love, and its also fun to make up stories for them so I had a good time with it. The whole western cowboy love story type of thing always interested me, so thats the theme that I went with for this assignment.

Love Story by Photo

Archives

This was an easy assignment for me because my two best friends immediately came to mind.

Meet Kat and Mike.

This picture was taken at their wedding 3 years ago and while a lot has changed since then, their obvious love for one another has not. This is the classic story of high school sweethearts.

It drives Mike crazy but I always like to take credit for their love story. We were sophmores in high school when the guy I was dating mentioned that Mike was interested in my very best friend, Kat. I set them up on a date and they hit it off! They were both very shy and it actually took them about 2 months to even hold hands but clearly they knew what they were doing. Kat and Mike stayed together all through high school and then went to GMU together. In December 2012 Mike got down on one knee and asked a very important question.

Of course she said yes and Mike and Kat married in January of 2014.

Today, their love is just as strong as ever but as of December 2016, its split 3 ways. Meet Nicholas

Every picture tells a story, but no picture can tell their entire story.

Love at First Shot

Hugh and Martha have been by each others side for as long as they can remember. They met one day at a coffee shop when someone mistakenly took her drink and he offered to buy her a new cup. They sat in that shop for hours talking and laughing the day away. They married on a sunny day in April 1961. Fifty six years of being by each others side and nothing has changed between them. They originally met and settled down in London, she an actress, he a successful architect. In 1970 they moved to France to follow Martha’s acting career. After ten years in Paris they moved back to England, because it just wasn’t the same in a new country. Together they have four kids and eleven grandchildren. They wish they could see their family more often, but different things and events moved family members all over the country. This photo was taken on their fifty fifth wedding anniversary. Life for Martha and Hugh couldn’t get any better.

Once upon a time there was this couple.. One fellow named, Mark and a young darling named Sarah. They both went to the same high school in the year of 2011. Sarah is now 24 and Mark is 20. Mark is currently in college and Sarah is currently trying to retire as a veteran from the U.S. Marines. Mark and Sarah knew of each other in high school, but never talked to one another about each other. Sarah always thought Mark was too young for her. Until the year of 2016 showed up and Mark became the bullets to her holster. They both have reconnected over Facebook and talked about the things they had in common that they were so unaware of in the beginning.  Mark thought Sarah was the most beautiful, astonishing woman ever. Sarah thought of Mark that he was so humbling and the most handsomest guy in the world.  In the eyes of each other, they could both see each other’s lives planned out perfectly well for the near future. However, Sarah had this one problem about herself that Mark thought was outrageous. She had this absurd anger issue. Mark thought it was cute at times, but other times he wanted to just throw himself off a cliff and say, “Y.O.L.O.” Inversely, Sarah had one thing she did not like about Mark and that was that he would never express his feelings when he got mad at something with Sarah.

Fast-forwarding, Sarah and Mark got comfortable with each other, but there was this problem. The problem was DISTANCE. Mark lived in Virginia and Sarah lived in California. They could not see each other when they wanted to so the only way they could communicate was on FaceTime or over the phone. Basically, they were involved in a long-distance relationship. However, Sarah would be traveling soon to visit Virginia, but only for two weeks. Mark and Sarah have not seen each other since High School. So, all types of emotions and feelings raveled inside their bodies that one day they could finally see their true love.

Long-story short, the picture at the top symbolizes the day they finally got to witness each other’s love and that hopefully, Sarah could be FOREVER Mark’s chipmunk.

The END.
