Love At First Shot

loveMarch 19, 2012

We were celebrating 4 years of being together. He planned an extravagant cruise ship  getaway for  just the two of us. After lunch we walked out onto the bow of the ship where there was no one else around so we could be alone. He held my hand and little did I know he’d gotten someone to take pictures of the entire moment. We got to the edge of the ship, he got down on one knee and that was the moment I knew this is who I would spend forever with.

How I Did It

For this assignment we had to use photo editing software to change something significant about a photo. I used pixlr.com to add one photo to another. I first had to make the background of the photo of the silhouettes transparent so I could add it to the photo of the ship. From that point I just had to layer the two and flatten them into one image.

“I can’t believe you would say such a cheesy line,” she said, folding her arms across her chest and turning away. The boy’s mouth hung open, and he grasped at her hand.

“I thought you would like something like this,” he said.

“I do,” she replied, turning back to him with a look of disdain. “But not if you’re going to tack on some cheesy line that sounds like it came from a book titled ‘How to pick up chicks’.”

“‘You’re more radiant than the setting sun’? That’s cheesy?” He rubbed his thumbs along the back of her hands. “I thought it was cute.” He looked down at his feet and sighed. The girl, feeling slightly guilty for his pitiful appearance, leaned towards him, her nose brushing against his.

“It was cute,” she muttered. “But just this time. Next time you have to make up your own pick-up lines.”

He smiled and lifted his head, gently placing his lips against her forehead. She responded by lifting her own lips up to meet his.

Process:

For the Love at First Shot assignment, we were given the additional task of altering the photo in some way. Considering the attached help to the given assignment was a tutorial for making a gif in GIMP, I decided to make a gif.

I just did a simple 3-frame one. Took the photo, rearranged the heads, and put them back into their original positions in the next two frames. Altered the frame length so that it would be a little varied, and then exported as usual.

Real Love

Sarah met Mike when she was just 18. Friends at school and over summer break. They went to senior prom and became best friends. She gave him a bow; he gave her a flower. The following year, they each went their own way; one to college and the other traveled.  As time and distance grew between them, their love never waned. They were met with challenges along the way – some as dark as the night, and as cold as an icy rain. They laughed, they cried, and share quite moments sitting side by side. The seasons changed and their love grew even deeper. Eventually they married, had children, worked hard and saved their money. Together, with their family, they traveled to new and exciting places and made lasting memories along the way. Today they share a simple and happy life, in a small little town, where their children and grandchildren aren’t too far. Love isn’t always easy, but it can last forever. Love is honest and kind, not deceitful or cruel. Love is lasting and endures the test of time. Love keeps us together even when far apart. Love is accepting and understanding; funny and sincere. Love is faithful. Love is taking a chance and making it work. Love is doing the right thing – for the right reason. Real love is forever.

Love is… holding hands and walking together

No, Not Really

coupleThe year is 1944.  17 year old Private Tony Bonamo has just entered Paris.  He is an infantryman in Patton’s 3rd Army.  He turn a corner and sees her.  The Parisian girl is maybe 16.  She is trying to cross a street and reach a safer part of the city.  Behind her are her younger brother and sister – they cling to her skirt.  Tony breaks cover and dashes across the street.  He pushes the girl against the building where she waits.  Shots ring out from the Germans hiding in buildings down the street.  She pushes back but she is weak from not having eaten in days.  Tony grabs her blouse and begins to drag her along the building to a place out of sight of the Germans.  He is yelling at her to hurry up.  She is yelling at him.  Neither understands the other.  Finally, they are far enough back that Tony thinks they can cross safely.  They rush across the street, pausing at the far side for breath.  His Sergeant is there.  He yells at Tony to move up with the rest of his squad.  Tony quickly pulls his rations from his bag and gives them to the girl.  She gives him a kiss – not his first, but certainly the most memorable.  He races back to the front.  He remembers a dull thump.  He does not know he’s been shot.

The year is 1944.  16 year old Jennine Allard has been caring for her sister Alice, 9 and brother Jacques, 6 for nearly a month.  Both her parents are dead.  She is trying to get to a safer part of the city.  She knows the Allies have entered the city and she wants to get to them.  She passes through a bombed out building.  She hears gunfire.  She know she must cross the street but she does not know if it is safe.  She see the American, then he is crashing into her.  The stone of the building hurts her and she almost looser her grip on her sister.  The American is yelling at her, dragging her along the building.  She yells back, telling him he is pulling her hair.  Neither understands the other.  They cross the street.  The American is getting orders from another American but before he goes, he gives her his rations.  It is the first food she had had in four days.  She kisses him and watches him run down the street.  She watches as the bullet hits him.  She does not hear the gunshot.

The year is 2004.  Tony and Jennine have been married for 59 years.  For their anniversary, they return to Paris, to walk the street that brought them together.  Jennine’s mother had been a nurse.  She had volunteered at the American hospital, treating the wounded soldiers while her brother and sister were being watched by another Parisian family.  She was the first thing Tony saw when he awoke in the hospital.  He resolved that minute to marry her.

Love at first shot

This day I will remember forever.  We met on the playground, our parents were talking about work and cars.  Since they were busy we found our first kiss. This kiss I will remember forever, I will never forget.  It will rest on my heart forever. When your parents move for a job in a couple of years we will be separated. We will both cry ourselves to sleep, we won’t eat and our world will feel like it’s ending.

We will promise to keep in touch.  We will at firs,t but as the years drag on we will become detached.  Separated by time and distance,  distracted by life. We will eventually date and marry others,  oh how I wish I could have married you.  You are my soul mate forever.  My heart still carries that one kiss.

I will always love you for sharing that first kiss.  I will never forget you or that day on the playground when you said that I could kiss you. The memory is all I have now for we are now different people.  If only I could turn time back, I would for just one more kiss.

The photo is a random photo that I borrowed from http://4photos.net/photosv2/Young_Lovers_1273575318.jpg.  I just made up a story.  I think if you take a minute to reflect,  we probably all share a similar story.

Random Post of Requirement for the Overlords

Happy Couple

There is no story behind this picture. A story implies an end, something completed. What do you call something still in its infancy? An introduction? Yes, there is an introduction behind this picture. An introduction of a man to a woman he knew well. An introduction that could occur despite the two already knowing each other. An introduction that called the two to a deeper understanding.

What was that introduction? You are asking the wrong person. Seriously, do you think I stalk this couple throughout this development? Fortunately, this type of relationship always goes the same way, so I can give you a good speech anyways.

The two met each other in passing. They exchanged smiles, eye contact, and all the other pleasantries of a spark. Their friends were friends with each other, so they found themselves spending a lot of time together. As time passed, he grew closer to her, and he to him. He was slightly oblivious and nervous, so she had to lead him on. Eventually, he got the message and gave a stereotypical pickup line about having long walks on the beach. Despite the horrible cliche of the request, she accepted, as it was what she wanted. And so, here they are, expressing joy to each other in a way only couples can.

A Perfect Love Story

Love Story Photo

Once upon a time there was a beautiful young girl who lived on a hill with her mother and father. She had beautiful blue eyes and pure white hair and skin. Her father was known and admired across the land and when she was little she loved being a daddy’s girl. One day the little girl grew up and began to imagine what it would be like if she could meet a nice and handsome man to sweep her off her feet. She loved children and worked at a pre-school. She dreamed of someday having a house full of her own children. She wondered if this life could ever be real or if it was destined to be a fantasy.

Down in the valley there was a young boy with dark hair and brown eyes and a playful smile that seemed to say “I’m up to something”. He was just graduating from school but didn’t know what to do with himself. He was smart and physically capable of doing just about anything but didn’t know how to go about it. He spent his days hanging out with other misguided young men and gave no thought to what tomorrow would be like; only living for the moment. He was a kind hearted soul but with no job or a sense of direction he was a little lost and lonely and unsure about what would become of him.

One day while he was just hanging out near a neighborhood beach he spotted a beautiful girl and in that moment nothing else mattered. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her. He had never felt this way before and he hadn’t even talked to her yet. What was this? Why did she seem to matter so much? She smiled at him and now his world was spinning. He had to talk to her. He gave her that playful smile of his and she knew instantly that he was the one!

They spent that summer discovering each other and with her as his compass he found his path. He found a good career and bought a beautiful home with enough room to fill with babies. At Christmas time he took her out to a sparkling light show and asked her to be his forever. Soon the daddy’s girl was walking down the aisle where the young, and now successful, man stood waiting with that playful smile.   Their hearts were full of love and joy at the life they would now have together.

Dreams really do come true. Today they have a precious little boy and are anticipating that he will be a big brother very soon. A happy home full of beautiful babies and lots of love . . . what more is there!

And so they all lived happily ever after!

*Just threw a message in a bottle into the ocean*

Girl: Do you think anyone will actually find this?

Guy: I don’t really know. I can only hope that the message will reach whoever needs to read it the most.

Girl: It’s exciting isn’t it? To think that wherever this bottle will end up, someone can add their story to ours?

Guy: It sure is, I can’t believe that message has been added to over the span of generations.

Girl: So much love concentrated into one small bottle waiting to be opened for the next person for them to be inspired hopefully.

Guy: Yeah, and the message will be passed on and on. maybe even our love as well as others can reach other continents and even the most exotic of places. It has the potential to bring light to the darkest of places.

Girl: We’ve done our part, we made sure the love passes on to who needs it. The only thing we can do is carry on ourselves; never letting go of who we are because of this experience and move forward to explore the depths of our own oceans darling.

Guy: As long as we have each other, no depth is too deep, my love.

The Love Story

10557421_10203613193842725_2950811522115512415_n

This is the love story of one that was never told. The man was at college becoming a chef at the Culinary Institute and dreamed of owning a catering business. The woman was just a second year college student not knowing what she wanted to be in the future. Never would they imagine that they would soon find each other and be married for now 37 years. She was home from college and needed a job so she applied to work at a country club. Desperate to get the job she put random skills on her resume hoping that she could get some kind of job so she could have a little cash before returning to college. She had a great life being in a big sorority and had a boyfriend who was on the track of becoming a doctor. Life was all falling into place until she got the job to be a preparation chef. She had no idea how to make anything that they asked her to do but was in fear that she would lose her job. The man worked at the country club as a chef and noticed this woman he had never seen before. She was something else. She was flustered and frustrated with the items he and his colleague had asked her to prepare. Seeing that she might lose her job he did her job for her. Making the meals he would finish and then would go over to her station and finish it before her boss would even notice. She took notice in what he did and that is where their relationship began. They began to get to know each other and when the summer ended their romance did not. She went back to school and so did he. She ended the relationship with the future doctor and began to go out with the future chef. Their schools were not in the same state and him being older and having his own car would come down from New York to Virginia as much as he could to see her. Later that year he graduated and within the 9 months of being together he proposed. At first she said, “no.” He had never asked her father for her hand in marriage and he tried to propose to her in the parking lot of a bar. He tried again even with her father not fully approving and this time she said, “Yes.” She had only been 19. He had been 25. Her father tried to pay her off and get her to walk out on her wedding day. The love that she had for him wasn’t worth the price her father had offered. It was worth so much more. She moved down to the city with him and transfer schools. Her father had cut her off of money so she had to make ends meet. They now own a successful catering business and have two kids. One is their own who is 32 and has Cerebral Palsy named Brandon and they adopted a daughter who is 20 and her name is Gabrielle. The man’s name is Gordon and the woman’s name is Ann and this is the love story of my parents.

Love at First Flight

These two macaws have fought long and hard to be together. Neither one’s family approved of the relationship, but the two were so in love! They would go to any length to be together! – It was true love!

For years, the two families quarreled, but not these two. The love birds would sneak away to have some peace without any bickering. The families could not stand each other; the lovers could not wait for the fighting to end.

Then something tragic happened. Scarlet was taken – held captive as a prisoner. Scarlet was lost, sad, and lonely! Blue was worried sick. Both separated from one another! Neither could live like this! Something had to be done.

Once the families realized how love sick Blue was for Scarlet, the families decided to cooperate to get Scarlet back! They concocted a devious plan. This plan was so devious, that it actually was carried out, leaving no trace of who had stolen Scarlet back.

All was as it should be – Scarlet and Blue were once again reunited, and the families were able to set their differences aside, well for the most part. Sometimes, family members still fought, but Blue and Scarlet were able to look past that, and see their love for each other. It was truly love at first sight.

Two Love Birds

This photo was taken during my spring break 2015 trip to Costa Rica.  There were macaws everywhere! It was such an incredible sight to see! And while these two love birds were enjoying each other’s company, there were others that were fighting and squawking like I had never seen before! So just like in the story, Scarlet and Blue only cared for each other, while the rest of the families still occasionally got into a few arguments…
