Color Changer

This assignment was quite simple. The main purpose of it was to change the color hues in a picture to make it look totally different. So I went through the photo library to look for a photo to edit. As I came across my photos from the caribbean cruise I took two summers ago, I thought it would be cool to see them in a different light.

IMG_9455So I decided to take this beautiful photo, with the white sand, black rocks and clear blue water, and turn it into something not so pretty. I chose a yellowed sand look with dark green waters and a gray sky. It’s definitely not a pretty picture anymore, but I’d have to say that it’s more interesting to look at!

Aruba!

Editing this picture wasn’t really all that tricky. I uploaded my original photo to www.picmonkey.com. From there I dialed up the temperature, down the saturation, and up the contrast!

This assignment required that you change the color on a photo. I took the original photo and uploaded it to Adobe Photoshop.  I then adjusted the color and hue until I found an appearance that I liked.  This is the original photo.running horserunning horse 2

The Cotton Candy Forest?

For 2.5 stars this week, I decided to do the Color Changer Assignment.

Take any picture in the entire world and change the color hue of the picture to completely change how it looks! Then post it on flickr to show the world!

I chose a photo from when I studied abroad in Germany, and visited the Black Forest during Spring/ Summer 2014.

In order to manipulate this photo, I opened it using the software Adobe Bridge. This is like the pre-cursor area to Adobe Photoshop, and I actually find it a little bit easier than Photoshop.. All of the changes you make in Bridge and Camera Raw are non-destructive, so you can save the photo as a new file, and have the original as well as the edited version!

After opening Camera Raw, I navigated to the hues tab, and changed the highlights to a pink hue, and the shadows to a blue hue.  I then adjusted the saturation of each to get the ending result! I love image editing, but I find that it takes FOREVER to get through all of the photos that I take.. It was a lot of fun to play around with the colors until I got something that looked pretty cool!

Winter at the Battle of Little Bighorn

For this visual assignment from the assignment bank I had to select or take a picture and change the colors, saturation, etc. to make it different in some way. I decided to use the picture I took at the Battle of Little Bighorn National Park of the Indian Memorial.

Here is the original image:

Battle of Little Bighorn - Indian Memorial (2)

I wanted to make it seem like it was winter at the memorial and like they were riding into a snowy battle. I changed the filter to black-and-white and added the vignette around it to look a little snowy. I love the way it turned out because I feel like I accomplished my goal of making it look like the picture was taken in the winter.
