Google Draw Something Could Not Guess My Kangaroo

First off, my kangaroo was terrible. Check it out here:

For whatever reason I could not draw a kangaroo at all. Overall this was pretty fun. I was unaware that this existed from Google, so this was an interesting experience.

If only I could draw a little bit better!

Turns Out I Can’t Draw Either

So, I’ve always fancied myself as a bit of a doodler, thought I wasn’t too bad at all. I thought today, I’d put that to the test. Oh how I regret that.

What a bloody mistake, I can’t draw for toffee, there is literally nothing that I am good at clearly. Anyway, I was pitted against Google. Could Google guess my Doodle?

Theres this cool website, Quick, Draw! in which you have to draw certain things on screen within 20 seconds while google guesses what you’re drawing. I did it a few times, and sometimes google was stumped, but other times, she cracked me.

As you can see, my drawings weren’t exactly Picasso standard, BUT I did have one round in which google guessed ALL my drawings correctly.

It’s not just for fun though, it stores all your doodles, and you can then explore the data. Look how many people drew elephants the same as me, but then take a look how many did a front view. It tells us more about the minds of people and the global society than you’d imagine. And that, for me, is the most interesting part of this site.

Google Draw Something

This was surprisingly very hard!!

This assignment was to use a site called Quick Draw with Google.  The aim of site is Google will randomly produce a word in which I would need to draw using my computer mouse on the screen. Google then tries to guess what it is within 20 seconds. See my results below:

So some of them where easily detected and within seconds guessed. Others I had to think how I could illustrate the item more efficiently. I wouldn’t class myself as a good drawer anyway and its shown in this, but this is fairly hard as I suppose everyone has a different perspective of what things look like and then I suppose Google has its own too.

I’m going to try improve this…

One better! It’s actually very fun even though its hard and it’s almost addictive.

One of the funniest guesses it made was on the feather drawing and Google said “I see the great wall of china” Thanks Google, didn’t realise my drawing was that bad until I met you!

photo through different lenses

These photos showcase the man spaces in which my headphones live. I took this pictures with an iPhone and tried to be in as many spaces as possible to show the presence and importance of music and being able to listen to it readily. In away these photos tell a story of the day in the life of headphones.

MUSIC COLLABZ

For this map, you’re looking at the many connections within artists not even necessarily connected by genre. Many of these artists overlap in the music they create and have made connections over time by maturing as artists, learning different and unique styles. I have a strong obsession with music so making this was a joy. I created a network between these people by linking them depending on if they were featured, collaborated, or covered a song by a connected artist. I added tags to differentiate these characteristics but I’m not sure you can see them unless you click on the circles. I also added photos to make it easy to remember some people. Kumu is a very easy tool to use and could help you make even more important networks, for instance, a family tree or the dynamic of a job or organization.

canvas catering to me

So far I’m really enjoying these web assignments! It’s pretty neat to be able to manipulate something that you might not be capable of otherwise. I love that so many people used the idea of manipulating Amazon by catering to their interests like Morph Shadow’s costume, or the resume our professor mentioned. I decided to remix the canvas home page because it’s something we all use here at Mary Washington. I wanted to keep intact the courses I actually take but describe them in a more humorous way. Here’s what it looked like:

I changed the Dashboard area and made that more of a title of the entire creation. My last semester at UMW, it definitely has been one of the chillest but that doesn’t mean I don’t have important assignments! I changed the scores of the recent feedback to obscure scores and some of the stuff on the side. Very entertaining! Unfortunately it won’t allow me to share the link because this is through MY canvas and can only be seen through my login information I believe.. Still, take a look at the screenshot!

QUICK DRAW

For this assignment, we were asked to create drawings according to what word we’re given. What is crazy is that you’re basically playing Pictionary with the computer! This was so fun that I did it twice. In the picture shown above, this was my second attempt, and they could recognized all of them for the most part. This assignment is proof of how capable the internet is of solving algorithms and using them in a fun and interactive way. I clicked to see more of the data on the other drawings made and it was so cool to see how others drew their word. You can even see the way they created it. It was a interesting experience and could be a new pass time for me!

Explaining the Superhero

For this assignment, it says the explain the spy. In order for it to apply to our semester together, I decided to explain the superhero. #3stars

My thought behind creating Malevolent Melody was somewhat inspired by Ember McLain. I was actually explaining to my friend how I want my character to be about music and have powers relating to it. She then told me, that it reminded her of an episode of Danny Phantom. I think that somehow my subconscious remembered that idea because I have definitely seen that episode and I went with it. Instead of creating my superhero as a ghost or villain I went on the more positive route in making my character. Her main goal is to fight injustice. This came about since her best friend experienced the death of both of her parents. Because she cares dearly about her best friend Lyric, who has helped her when she needed the most support, she wants to do all she can to figure out who is the blame for this murder while making good music during the process. Ember McLain became a ghost after a tragic fire but in her before past life, she was full of anger and that carried on with her in her Ghost life.  I hope to use more of her casting of spells ability with Melody and her Keytar. I like my current idea of harmonizing with her best friend Lyric to create powers (powerful sound waves), but I worry that it’s not enough. I just want Malevolent Melody to be hardcore and sometimes evil but has good intentions for the most part, like most humans.

use only the ten hundred most common words

When I feel worried I like to listen to music. The music is often happy or exciting and never has weird thoughts of people with pick up cars. Sometimes I listen to soft music because the beats are safe and calming. If I’m feeling happier I like to listen to rock or pop with simple words that paint life in cute ways. Music has an important place in my heart.

I used the Up-Goer Five Text Editor to write this short essay about what I love about music. Basically I had to pick less exciting words to describe more exciting things. I started by typing it on something separate and then pasting it to edit. #3stars Here’s what I started with:

When I feel stressed, I like to listen to music. The music is often upbeat or rhythmic and never involves country. Sometimes I listen to Beach House because their beats are smooth and calming. If I’m feeling more enthused I like to listen to Indie Rock with simple lyrics that sugar coat life in cute ways.
