My Resume/Update on ME

3 Stars (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/character-resume/)

I recently just opened my own Art Gallery in my fathers’ bakery. He decided to close shop and try to reconnect with my mother.. a horrible idea but his incentive to get me to stay put while he is gone is to give me the shop for my own use.

The renovations happened rather quickly and I have been scouting the island for new young artists to showcase.

Here is my resume encase any future clients are curious..

Which Character Are You In Noir Not The Father

For this web assignment I created a quiz on uquiz.com. This quiz is all about finding out who you are most related to on the show I was apart of on Noir Not the Father. The coolest person to get would be Micheal Bretton but there are a couple other good choices out there. Using uquiz.com was actually very easy and I would recommend it instead of the other site that the assignment suggests. It was very easily laid out and I did not run into any confusing spots.

Resume

Between the Black Widow Bar and Black Widow Agency, I’m not in any need for a new job. Still, it’s always good to keep your resume updated and ready! I recently checked out mine to make sure everything was still up to date. Here it is, My Resume!

I made mine by choosing a theme on Word and just adding in the necessary and advised info. It’s very simple.

Maybe one day in the future I’ll actually get around to making a LinkedIn

Sardic’s Resume

This is for the “Character Resume” web assignment.  Sardic has a rather specific set of skills and experience, and it shows in his resume.  Needless to say, he’s a bit of an HR nightmare.  His experience makes him look like a thug, his skills could only be used for investigation or less scrupulous lines of work, and half his contacts are aren’t even from this dimension.  I had fun with his resume, between the noir theme and the multiverse setting, I pretty much got to have free reign on what I wanted to put on there.  Below is a link to the .docx file containing Sardic’s Resume.  Please consider his employment.

Resume for Jack Sadler

Jack Sadler Resume:

  • Profile: My name is Jack Sadler. I currently live in Chicago Illinois but I grew up in a town called Lincoln not too far from the Mississippi river.  I left Lincoln when I was 19 and moved to Chicago. I got a job as a dishwasher at a local bar and began working there. Ten years later I now own that very same bar and have begun my own private detective agency. I recently appeared twice on the Noir Not the Father show but I only ask that my time on that show be overlooked when considering me for a job.
  • Work History: I currently own and operate my own bar in downtown Chicago.
  • Education: I attended the local high-school where I grew up and graduated from there. I never did go to college but I take a night class from time to time. I never had the time until I owned the bar myself and could put someone else on shift for the night.
  • Skills: I’m good at reading people. Working at a bar for so long has given me the skill of listening well. I don’t just listen to people stories but I listen to their attitude, demeanor, and tone. I can tell so much about a person by the way they tell their story. I can pick out the liars too. When people lie they have a certain way they carry themselves. Sometimes its a confident lie and sometimes its a very cautious lie but I can always tell. As far as other job skills go, I am good with my hand and I am a diligent worker. I have no problem starting at the bottom and working my way up to the top.
  • Former Job Positions: Dishwasher and busboy at BARbarians. Manager and owner of BARbarians. Self employed as a private detective.

Trip Adviser – New York

This is for the “storytelling within the web” web assignment.  This was a really cool prompt for a web assignment; it lets you do pretty much anything you want to any site.  Of course I wanted to relate this to Jim Sardic and his version of New York, so I went to a trip adviser page for attractions in New York.  I used x-ray goggles, the extension for firefox, to edit the html on the page.  It was cool changing around things on the site, the extension was extremely intuitive.  You can just click on any portion of the page, and the highlighted code block will come up to let you change anything you want.  I didn’t go too crazy with it, changing links to other pages.  I mostly changed the text on the page to make sense with Sardic’s universe.  Here’s a link to the new version of the site I made.

Please Hire Me

This week I had to do some web assignments. The first one I did was the “character resume” assignment (3 pts). The assignment instructions say that you can use Word to create your resume, so I was a little confused why this wasn’t a writing assignment, but I guess its kind of both. It has been a while since I updated my resume, so this was the perfect assignment as I became part of the Steadfast Sleuths agency. I quickly put together the profile and education sections of the resume, but struggled a little with the work history. While I value secrecy, my encounter with Shannon Mills a few weeks ago made me realize that I can’t stay hiding my Kellogg’s company past too much longer. For this resume, I included my time as the president of the company and my main projects there. The rest of the work history is common knowledge: I work as a secretary to stay low. It’s not the best job, but it does have its perks, like meeting Sarah Mustard and Sebastian Crane. The skills section was lots of fun for me, because I have learned so much in the past few weeks. Before now, I really didn’t know how to use Twitter, WordPress, or computers in general because I live in the 1950s, but now I have those skills! My other skills are nothing new. At the bottom of the resume I added a couple references, in case people want to ask about my work ethic. Maybe someone will hire me!

I created my resume in Word, then saved it as a PDF. The difficult part was including it in this blog post. I added a link to the Word document, but when I tried to download it I got a message saying it was unsafe, so use caution there. Then I took a snapshot and cropped it in Paint, but when I uploaded the picture it was too small to read, and making it bigger made the words fuzzy and intelligible. Finally, I decided to zoom in and screen shot each third of the resume, then piece them together in Paint. I uploaded it to the blog, and it still came out tiny!! I thought, this just can’t be! Then I went in to edit the picture and found that this last picture was automatically set to a small size because it was so big. I changed the size, and now you can finally read it clearly! As it turns out, writing a resume is not as hard as figuring out how to make it legible online. All’s well that ends well, though. I should have put “dedicated to making legible documents” on my resume! I hope this resume will get me hired (should the need arise). Right now, though, I’m fine with being a secretary and detective.

In the beginning…

The real inspiration for my agency came from the trip I took with Eden Waz. I decided this was a key point to and deserved a page on my agency’s webpage. I also saw that this fit with an a web assignment, How It All Began, which is rated at 3 stars. I could go on about how it all started, but I think the description on my webpage will fill you in well enough.

My resume

I decided to add my resume to my webpage. It can be found under the staff page. I drew inspiration to upload my resume from the ds106 web assignment: character resume (which is rated at 3 stars). The resume is really rather self-explanatory. It describes my previous work and education experience. I’ve mostly worked in industry. For a couple years I chose to teach high school which turned out to be a horrible decision which is why I only taught for two years. My education is not as extensive as I wish it could be but my years of experience in the science industry make up for that.
