the story of kenya using storify

storify: kenya

My next assignment was to create a storify using several social media sites. It was marked as 2.5 stars, but I would argue I used 3 stars of work due to the amount of time it took and how many photos and tweets I put in it. I chose to use my Twitter and Instagram to tell the story of my Kenya trip I took in June.

The website was glitchy (things were not loading properly) so it took a while and a lot of patience, but I had a lot of fun with the assignment. I love going back and looking at pictures from the trip. I tried to put everything in chronological order, using photos from friends who also went on the trip. I also added tweets that I wrote over the course of the two weeks I was there.

It was really fun to tell a story using two separate social media sites, and I really enjoyed using the site. I hope to use it again!

My Collage Of My Journey

Storify It (2 Stars)

Below is a collage of a my journey and what encouraged me to join the Freedom Fighters Agency

Sebasha Storified

This week, a reporter came up to me because they wanted to get the full story of the romance between Sebastian Crane and myself. She said she already got some information from Sebastian, and she was going to “Storify It” (2 pts). I agreed to tell her my version of all the events that happened between us as long as it doesn’t hit the print newspapers, because both Sebastian and I work for a print newspaper and I’m not sure how that would play out. Storify is pretty easy to get the hang of. You can add text, or add media from different places on the web to create a story. It’s kind of like what I do with my blog posts, but I don’t tell the same type of narrative as she does. This story of Sebasha is a pretty accurate and complete summary of the things that have happened to Sebastian and myself in the past few weeks. There were some things I told her that Sebastian didn’t know, and now I see that there were some things Sebastian told her that I didn’t know. We will see where that leads. I like how the reporter added a lot of media from different places on the web like Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, and SoundCloud, because these primary sources give you proof that the story is not just made up by the reporter. Her words are just there to guide the reader through the different sources. It took a while for the reporter to get all the sources in the right order and make sure it made sense, but the end result was worth it. It is open ended about the future of our relationship because after all we have been through it is difficult to see a future where it works out for the two of us. However, I will keep trying at it, and hopefully the story of Sebasha will grow. Here is the Storify story that the reporter published:

I’ve been getting really into social media since starting this company with Bev. I decided that it would be cool to showcase the development of our company through a storify post. Bev was  little hesitant at first because she’s always a little concerned about things she doesn’t understand/have full control over, but I insisted that it would be a great way to document the origins of our company and also reach more customers.

We compiled our storify by pulling together tweets and pictures that showed the beginning of our company. I urged Bev to continually tweet while we were getting started, which I think she is adjusting to. We then worked together to select the best tweets that show the strongest aspects of our company, we inserted them into a storify, published, and shared.

Justice Served Cold

At the beginning of this journey, I never thought justice would be this sweet. This is my story and how I became the Law of the Land.

The Beginning of “Headline Crime”

This assignment was completed to give you guys a little background about how Scott and I formed this agency. You can find the guidelines for this assignment here. This assignment is worth 2 stars and is a web assignment.

Using the Storify program was very easy! I was surprised that it was so user-friendly. Since I’m typically the one in front of the camera and not really dealing with the technology, this assignment worried me a little bit. But I think my Storify turned out pretty well and I hope you all learn something about Scott and I from it. Enjoy!

The Case of Walter Walters

Storify It (2 stars)

This is a Storify story of The Steadfast Sleuths missing persons case. It will be added to our portfolio on our website of cases we have worked on together. In order to create this article for our portfolio I used my Twitter account to create a Storify account. The process of creating a Storify story is not too difficult and the website helps you along the way. I searched in the tab for forms of media involving The Steadfast Sleuths and inserted tweets, Flickr pictures and YouTube videos related to this case. Then, I ordered the tweets, pictures and videos into a logical order and then wrote in my own narration of how they each were connected. I had to download a Storify plugin in order to embed this into this post and then I was finished. If you are interested in seeking out our services for one of your mysteries I recommend you view this story and watch the video, because it will give you an impression of how we work as an agency on your case.

Agencies to Watch Out For

For this assignment I had to use the tool “Storify” to assemble text and elements from social media. I used pictures form other people’s websites to create this post. This is Headline Crime’s first report, it shows some of the upcoming agencies and the type of thing we will be reporting on. I’m sure there will be more to come from these, and many more agencies, we will be keeping a close eye on them.

Isabelle McIntosh-Storify

I picked this 2 Star project in order to give the background of my character.  I thought it was an excellent way to develop her character.  I used Storify and I illustrated it with pictures I have posted on Flickr.   I tried to embed it but it wouldn’t work.  Here is my link.
