Do you ever find yourself listening to popĀ radio, and being amazed by the pure poetry of the lyrics?
Yeah, me neither.
I actually find it relatively mind-blowing that this song, Panda, is at #2 on Billboard’s Top 100. It’s not terrible- kind of catchy after the fourth or fifth time you’ve heard it, but the lyrics. I mean,Ā come on.
The chorus?
Panda, Panda
Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda, Panda
No, really, that’s the chorus. Desiinger then follows up with:
I got broads in Atlanta
Twistin’ dope, lean, and the Fanta
It’s so bad it’s good.
This design assignment (two stars)Ā spoke to me since I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to make fun of what I consider to be the worst lyrics of 2016. The choice of the panda is obvious, the peach represents Atlanta, and the Fanta is, well, a Fanta. I chose these symbols because they’re the only things besides “panda” that I can A.) understand and B.) are appropriate.
Process:
First, I downloaded my three images and opened them in GIMP. I started with the panda image.
I used the scissor select tool around the panda’s body andĀ checked the ‘feather edges’ option so that it retained its furriness.
The peach and the Fanta can were easier to select, as the downloaded images contained only whitespace. To isolate these pictures, I simply selected ‘Color to Alpha’ and set all the white space to transparent.
The only thing left to do was copy and paste each layer into the same image. Voila!
