Close Up

For this mashup assignment, I decided to use this close up photo of Nicki Minaj because it’s a good meme. The assignment said to make the photo in the back unrelated, but I couldn’t help but reference Nicki Minaj’s views against the vaccine.

I removed the background from Nicki’s photo and added it above the clinic layer. Then I lowered the opacity of her photo.

I’m Ready For My Close Up

This is a photo close up of my friend two weeks removed from his first child being born. He’s thriving. I didn’t tell him about this so I really hope he stumbles across the instagram, since it’s public. The background image is called Iridescence and is an art installation. I was gonna add Andrew to Brockhampton, but I liked the stain glass more.

Andrew if you ever find this I’m sorry

Tutorial

For this assignment/tutorial, I did it on the mashup, I’m ready for my close up for 4 and a half stars.

The first thing you have to do is to try and find a close up face, and after that you have to save it to the computer. Go onto photoshop and open that picture, make it a layer by double clicking the “background” picture on the right side bar. Next when you found your face, you need to find your background that’s opposite of what the face is saying or something that makes it funny. Once you find the background, you open that separately onto photoshop and do the same thing by making it a layer.

Use the eraser tool to erase the background of the person’s close up face and then drag the whole tab that has the person in it and make it a window of itself. Once its its own window, drag and drop the face onto the background you chose for it. Make it as big or as little as you would like it to be by selecting the face layer, going under the edit tab, and hitting the free transform button. After that you save the changes and save it onto the desktop.

Tutorial (Week Twelve):

I’m Ready For My Closeup Tutorial

Although most photoshopping applications seem terrifying, they’re really not and neither is this assignment! Check out my tutorial to ease your mind and help guide you through the process:

  1. The first step is deciding what images you are going to use and how you are going to utilize them to tell a story through this assignment. Once you’ve figured that out, you can move on to step two!
  2. At this step, you should have downloaded the images you want to use. Now it is time to begin. For this tutorial, I’m going to be showing you how to photoshop an image with the application called Gimp.
  3. So first, open up the application. Once the application is up, it should look like this:
  4. Now you’re going to want to crop, delete, edit, etc. The image you are going to photoshop over your main background image. Thus, you need to open the image to Gimp. You do this by:
  5. Now that you have the image you want to edit open, here comes the fun part. You’re going to use “the lasso tool” The icon for it looks like this:
  6. Once you’ve selected the lasso tool, you’re going to have to outline the part of your image you want to use as a layer over your background image like so:P.S. – make sure that you connect your final point to the point you began with to close the loop and ensure you’ll be able to remove the image background.
  7. Now comes one of the most important parts. You are going to need to have an alpha channel. Add one by doing this:
  8. Once you have your alpha channel added. You’re going to want to get ready to remove the image background. Follow these steps:
  9. Alright, now you’re on your way. Save your new masterpiece and get ready to move on to the next step.
  10. The next step is the fun part, you’re going to begin by having a new window of Gimp opened up. You are then going to want to open up your new background image (not the one you just edited).
  11. Once you’ve got that set up, you’re going to import the image you just edited like this:
  12. Now you can move the edited image around the background and position it however you’d like. To do that, select the “selection tool” that looks like this:
  13. And viola, you’re done!

I’m Ready for My Closeup Tutorial

This assignment may seem a little challenging because of it’s star rating (4 1/2 stars), but if you have the right tools it becomes an extremely easy and fun assignment!

First thing to do is to decide on the images you would like to use. You will need one image that contains a dramatic close up of an individuals face! For example, when I completed this assignment I chose the classic image of Ryan Gosling in the pouring rain from The Notebook.

The next image you will need to complete this assignment is an image for the background. This image could fit the scene and just be from a different movie/show, or it could be completely out of the blue! It is your choice so get creative. For my assignment I decided to get super creative mashing up photos and chose an image of a basket of puppies.

Next step is to combine your photos. You can do this with photoshop, or many apps. I recommend using Pasteify. It is extremely simple and effective when you want to photoshop two images together.

First Step of using Pasteify: Chose image to be your background (fun background)

Second Step of using Pasteify: Cut out your overlay image (dramatic closeup)

To complete this you use your figure to highlight the parts of this image you want to keep!  This is an important note, you only highlight (in red) the parts you want to KEEP!

Third step of using Pasteify: Combine the two images. You can drag the cropped overlay image with your finger, increase or decrease the size, and lastly position it where you want it on your background.

Last step is to save or share your image from the app! Final result an awesome and hilarious mashup photo.

Hope this helps all of you tackle the “I’m Ready for My Closeup” Mashup assignment! Good Luck Everyone!!

Close up Tutorial

Man, Tutorials are cool. Close ups are not.
This assignment, while may seem difficult, its really not. I am going to write this tutorial in steps.

Step 1:
Find your inspiration. Since our class is spy themed, I decided to do mine on my agent, who is on her mission. My background is going to be space, with a spaceship and ill have my agents face will be in the window of the spaceship.

Step 2:
Once you have your pictures loaded up on photoshop, you are going to use the lasso tool to crop out the face you will be using. With the lasso tool, you can trace over the face, which will make it easier to place it in another picture.

Step 3:
Copy your face onto the background image. (command+C and then Command+V to make it easier)

Step 4:
With the face on the background, Click Command+T to be able to shift it around and play with it.

Step 5:
Make your image smaller or larger and place it in the desired location
For my image, it made sense to move it to the window of the ship, and make the face smaller.

As in extra step, you can change the opacity, to make the image transparent.

This is my final product! Enjoy making yours.

Im Ready For My Close Up … Tutorial

This assignment is super easy todo, you just need an idea and the ability to edit an image.

I actually got my idea from the famous movie scene assignment, and decided to use the close up of Laurence Fishburne’s face from the matrix. But instead of Nero reflecting, who would be there? Only the most terrifying creatures on the planet… My Little Ponies. And boom, half of the work is done.

Now, go consult google for the images and copy them into a Word Document. I’m about to make your life super easy. Set the Laurence Fishburne’s face picture so its in the back and then copy in the MLP picture so it is on top. If the picture is selected then “Picture Format” should pop up in the tool bar. There is a scroll bar of different formats, choose the oval. Resize the oval so it fits over Laurence Fishburne’s glass’s lens. Copy the oval picture, paste, and place it over the other lens.

Screen shot that beauty so it turns into a picture, crop out the excess, and you did it!

Tutorial

For my tutorial I used the assignment I’m ready for my close up. The purpose of this assignment is to take a dramatic close up of a character and put in on top of a cute background.

First step was to find the photos I needed. I just googled the photos and then saved them to my desk top.screen-shot-2016-11-11-at-4-33-29-pm

Next I put the photos into the photoshop software I use.

Then I used a rotation tool to make Captain America face the cupcake.

After that I used an easer tool to get rid of unnecessary background.

Lastly I rescaled Captain America so he was no longer covering the cake. After that I was all done.screen-shot-2016-11-11-at-4-36-41-pm

I’m Ready for My Closeup

Take a dramatic closeup of anyone’s face – an actor’s, a friend’s, your own – and superimpose a landscape or scene over the face. Since this is a mashup, get crazy with it. Take two completely unrelated images and put them together, then try to make a story out of it!
