The two assignments I completed with movie maker:
How to/tutorial: Here’s a link to the video
hobby/videogames: Vimeo link
These are the tools I used to make my video assignments. First, let’s talk about the adding videos and music. To add videos use this:
or drag and drop your video files onto your storyboard. To add music use this:
Cutting out the excess film from the middle of a clip.
use the Split tool:
This tool splits the video at the exact frame you are on
To make choosing a frame more precise you may want to use these buttons:
they progress the clip one frame at a time.
choose a starting and an ending point, split the clip at those points.
Once you have the section you want to remove, click on it to select it then press the remove button: you can find it in the home tab or by right-clicking the clip.
you can also use the split tool to add transitions or blank frames just for text:
Transitions:
click on the clip you want to transition too, then choose from the options in the toolbar. You can hover over them to preview what they would look like.
Adding text
in your home tab, there is a caption option
click on this to add text anywhere in your film.
you can change the font in the format tab with the text options
if you have bad audio quality in your video and you only want the audio/music you added to be heard go into the video tools under the edit tab, there you can click on this:
then you can adjust how much sound is coming from your video file.
To change the volume of the audio you added, go to the music tools under the options tab and click this:
then you can adjust how much sound is coming from your audio file.
To add a pre-designed layout, intro/outro like on one of these options found in the home tab:
when you choose one it will automatically place the slides on your storyboard, and you’ll have to edit them. Simply click on the one you wish yo edit, and you’ll see the text on your video screen. Click the text on the screen to edit it.
Extra Tip:
you can use the split tool on your audio as well, so if there is any profanity you can mute it out or remove it.
If your video is too large, and you want to upload to Vimeo use the premade setting they have when publishing or saving. It may shoot the video quality, but without it, you may not be able to upload. I ran into a lot of trouble with space availability for my videos because they took up too much space.
