How to Create an Arts and Crafts Tutorial

Stuck on the Arts and Crafts Tutorial video assignment? No worries! Here is a how-to post to help get ya started!

The first thing you’re gonna want to start thinking about is your craft itself. What craft do you want to create a tutorial about? I chose to create an origami butterfly! If you aren’t a super creative artsy-fartsy kind of person, that’s okay! We have something called… THE INTERNET! There are hundreds of thousands of arts and crafts options you can search for and learn how to make! And once you find the craft of your interest, you’re ready to go!

Before you start recording, make sure you know how to construct your craft ahead of time, this way you won’t have any little bumps in the road DURING your video! Be sure to have all the materials you need for your creation, laid out in front of you. Then you’re gonna want to find a good spot to record your video!

There’s a lot of video/movie software out there, however, I used iMovie (an app that comes with any Apple product). If you want higher quality, more professional level type videos, you’re welcome to use whatever video software you care for. I used the standard level iMovie to produce a pretty decent video, if I don’t say so myself! ?

What I found to be very useful was that I recorded my whole video in one go, while slowing down my process so I could record a more accurate voice-over. If I folded the origami too fast, I found myself talking really fast during the voice over. The goal of the voice over is to trick your audience into thinking that you were talking as you created your masterpiece. (But you actually made a separate recording ? )Therefore, speed is key for this video.

Be sure to mute all the sound in your video, to allow your voice-over to sound as crystal clear as possible. iMovie made the voice-over recording process super easy! All you do is record a voice recording of you simply explaining what is going on during each step in the video!

After piecing together the video and the voice-over, my last task for this video was background music! You can’t make a great video without some good old background music! Luckily, iMovie has some built-in options for background music! And they’re not bad! I found some really good ones! And if those choices aren’t to your liking you can always import your own music!

Well, there was my journey on how to create an arts and crafts tutorial! I hope this blog helped get your thoughts flowing on how you are going to create YOUR arts and craft tutorial!

Good luck!
