Video was the new frontier for teaching in the 1950s and you can find rich (and funny) examples of educational videos of that era. In this assignment make a 5 minute or less video of a modern topic in the vintage style of these films. Include elements like cheesy music, titles, cut out graphics, booming voice to make something educational. As an example see How to Be Cool: an educational film

You'll need a camera. And you'll need another frame. Hold the frame in one hand (don't let you hand cover the side facing you), and take a picture with it in the center of the image. Then step backwards and take another photo just like it. Repeat until you are tired of making art. Nest the images in Prezi inside the frame of the next picture. Now make a zoom path. Record it with video capture software. Add some video editing (you'll have to use multiple stacks(only so much zoom in Prezi atm) and splice the ends of them together ...

Sometimes pictures can say much more than words. A diagram can provide the "aha" effect to help the readers better understand the written text. However, a video can be the happy medium to combine the two. For this assignment, find a written explanation of a concept and a simple illustration/diagram that further clarifies that concept. Then make a movie combining the two. Here's an example: http://blog.neverthesameriver.com/?p=1212

On Seinfeld, the astute George Castanza noted "If you take everything I've ever done in my entire life and condense it down into one day....it looks decent." -- if you take everything you have done in a day and condense it down to a video... it looks decent (or better). Create a video that shows your entire day that compresses your day into a video no more than 10 minutes long (bonus points for making it 5). Capture bits of your day in video or still photo form, and edit as a movie. Include titles, time stamps, and background music. ...

Find a movie that you can create an alternate ending for- make a video, recreating the scene and the characters, that plays out a different way the movie could end. As an example, see these re-filmed endings for Rear Window or Braveheart As a reference, including either a clip of the original film or a screenshot.

For this assignment, take a video no longer than 90 seconds from the point of view of your character. Make sure to weave it into the story you are telling and include actions/materials that your character would use. Also, you could edit it in iMovie and add music. On the other hand, if this is not for your character, then you could still complete this assignment by compiling short videos of your day told through your point of view and edit them together in iMovie, or any other video editing software.

Download different scene clips from one movie to create a short commercial for DS106. Clip, trim and remix them to let people know what DS106 is all about and how they can find us at ds106.us. Challenge yourself to overdub the audio to have the characters saying DS106 where it would be appropriate. Also try and add the DS106 logo onto an object in a scene. You can find an example at The DS106 Matrix

Create a supercut montage of overused dialogue, themes, motifs, filmmaking techniques, etc. for a particular character, tv show, film, and/or public figure. A supercut is a "fast-paced montage of short video clips that obsessively isolates a single element from its source, usually a word, phrase, or cliche from film and TV. Supercut.org collects every known example of the video remix meme." For examples and descriptions of supercuts visit: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/supercut http://supercut.org/

Each year since 2017 Vanity Fair interviews Billy Eilish, and in many ways it is an introspective in which she is talking to her former self as the years go on. I hope when you're reading this they are still doing them! But now it's your turn. The first part is easy, make a list of questions you want to aks yourself, turn on the camera and hit record. A year from now, take the same questions and record yourself answering them again. Feel free to edit in responses from the previous year and even reactions to those previous answers. ...
