A "but" edit is when you take something repetitive and everytime it repeats its self you add some effect such as distortion or make it play something else entirely, it doesnt even to need to be repeitive it could be something like "gucci gang but its at audio frequencies unhearable by the human ear" or "gucci gang but everytime it says gucci gang its a nuclear detonation you dont have to use gucci gang you can use anything you want.

Take a clip of a sports event, baseball, football, basketball etc. Take the commentary from a different sport and add that commentary over the original video. Try and get the audio to match up so it makes at least a little sense. Make it comical, have some fun with it! From experience, the hardest part is finding a video clip and audio clip and getting them to match up. After that, you're golden! An example of this is from SNL below...

Six word stories, six word quotes, and six word poetry are all the rage. So why not six second art? Using any method of video, stop motion, or other visual medium, produce a six second video of you creating art. It could be digital art, physical art, or performance art, just create a six second video of you making it happen! Vine, Youtube, Vimeo, are all great places to host, although Vine happens to a great natural place for this type of work.

Things are crazy out there, man. Decoder rings, missing hats, dinosuars? Who knows where this will all end. Brave researcher Vanessa Locke has some questions for all of us. Download her video and choose at least 5 of her questions to answer by splicing your own video answers/responses in. Be honest and brave!

This was inspired from the 30 second documentary assignment. The object is to make a documentary showing how to do something. Wether that's how to make something, what your/a job is like, trying something new, showing yourself doing something you are terrible at or even really good at (again, the same idead from the 30 second video but longer for those who have something more complex to share). Make sure your video has an into "photo" or wording and a credit or statement at the end wrapping the video up. Remember to stay true to the original assignment link and keep it ...

Make a short, 30-second documentary, the topic is up to you. Some good ideas include: *How to make something *What someone's job is like *What it's like trying something new *Show yourself doing something you are terrible at *Show yourself doing something you are AMAZING at No narration necessary. Show, don't tell. cc licensed ( BY NC ND ) flickr photo by Pcora: http://flickr.com/photos/pedro/40243309/

Make a supershort, 5-second film; basically enough time for one gag, bit, or joke. See examples (ALERT: Not G-rated, generally) at http://5secondfilms.com/. Or alternatively, try your hand at creating a 5 second version of a major movie.

"A Second A Day" has become popular in videos recently. A moderation for this class would be taking 3-5 seconds of video at the begining of each hour or every half hour throughout the day. The time can be adjusted as long as distance between videos is consistent. The point is to experience "A Day in the Life" of YOU and everyone and everything you encounter! To make it easier set an alarm on you phone to remind you at each time interval!
