I LOVE creating playlists & mixtapes for my friends. In high school, I created mix CDs for a couple of friends whenever I came back from a concert so they could listen to whatever great artist I just saw. When I saw the Make Your Own Mixtape assignment, I knew what I had to do.

For my first audio assignment of the week, I did the “Make your own Mixtape” Assignment. I wasn’t yet ready to make something that could be applied to the radio show, so I went with something more personal.

I’d had the idea in the back of my head for awhile to make a playlist of songs having to do with pictures or photography, since there seems to be so many of the, so that’s what I did.

Most of the songs are songs I knew, though some I came across and heard for the first time because they came up as suggestions when I searched for other songs on Spotify. I tried to grab from varying genres, to emphasize the fact that the premise is thematic rather than genre based. It was a fun little exercise that let me do something I had been wanting to do for awhile.

Because we are doing some audio assignments as well as working on our radio show, I decided to throw together a mixtape for an assignment from the assignment bank. For the mixtape, I put together the soundtracks and sounds created during audio week from my group’s character using SoundCloud.  Below you can see what songs/tracks are featured on the mixtape and who knows, you could be hearing them on our radio show.

This Assignment is AudioAssignments, AudioAssignments70. I had to create a story by using five different sounds and no speaking. I chose to get my sounds from freesounds.org. I was able to then put the sounds in a video and use an app to convert the video to audio. The story is about a man who wakes up and knocks his phone off his bed. Then panics because it hit the ground, but is relieved to find it not cracked when he picks it up. This assignment is worth 3 and 1/2 stars. 

This is AudioAssignment2120 and I had to create a convo using Disney Princess songs. I chose songs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas. The convo is “I’m Wishing- The Dream that you wish will come true- And for once it might be grand to have some one understand-You’ll learn things you never knew you never knew. Worth 3 stars.

This is my final assignment which is AudioAssignments2074. I made a mixtape of my pregame warm up jams. I made it as a downloadable movie because of fear of copy right. Also I used funny picture of my roommate! This was 4 stars.

If mixtape is in a sentence I kind of always have to add fire before it.. sorry ya’ll. Anyway I made a playlist via Soundcloud. I actually haven’t done that before. Whenever I like a song on SoundCloud I usually just “like” it and then listen to my liked songs later. I know they don’t always have the song you want but they always have an alternative or a song that you have never heard before which is why I enjoy their application. I first picked out sounds through my Spotify and wrote some down based on how they make me feel. Do they feel like summer vibes or winter? How do I feel when the leaves start to change? These kind of questions guided which songs I would choose. During this process I decided that a creative way to make it even more themed is by adding sounds of the seasons. I did this by using Freesound.org, importing them in audacity, and shortening and fading out the sounds. This playlist is best enjoyed in order to really feel the seasons change. This was soo fun and I probably spent more time than I should of but this is one of my favorite things to do so I went all out.

So I did the Make your own mixtape assignment, where I took a few of my favorite songs and put them together (with nice transitions, fade in/out) in Audacity to create this Mixtape I have linked below. I absolutely love all of these songs, and it’s 25 minutes of pure pleasure. Enjoy!

For my first audio assignment this week was worth 4 stars! I chose to complete the Make your own Mixtape assignment. I loved making this assignment because I have a playlist for everything! I have a playlist for sleep, working out, going out, everything! And now I have a playlist for my superhero character Little Brain. Little Brain is a very intellectual and introspective superhero so to get hyped up for missions he really turns music to bring out his more powerful side. His playlist is called Bad*** Mixtape and is filled with powerful classic rock songs! If you ever need to get hyped up quickly feel free to check his playlist out!

Make Your Own Mixtape

While Jester isn’t making people keel over in pain from laughter. He likes to boost his confidence and get revved up for his next attack by listening to his favorite mixtape. Welcome to Jester’s Play Land. Players beware, enter at your own risk.

For my first assignment bank choice of week five, I decided to complete the “Mixtape” assignment. All I had to do was come up of a mixtape of any type of my own. However, because of the theme of our class, I decided to make a mixtape for my Superhero, Morph Shadow.

The mixtape is composed of the top ten songs that Morph Shadow plays on a daily basis. Because she is not comfortable telling the world about her alter ego, Morph Shadow LOVES all things heroes, especially movies. That being said, her top ten songs come from hero movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: Civil War and more. She listens to these songs while studying, at the gym, driving around town, and just whenever she feels like it. Feel free to listen to the tape below!

I created a superhero playlist on Soundcloud and have also added some of the songs on this blog while adding more for this assignment.
