Name that 80s Movie #3

Bear with us, we will be moving to the next level of difficulty shortly. Hopefully you are feeling appropriately confident, but keep in mind the next three will separate the parachute pants wearers from the stonewashed jeans junkies.

Icon Credits (all from the Noun Project): Links for downhill skiing,  hamburger, BMX, and deer.

Name that 80s movie #2

Here is #2 of the Name that 80s movie, and don’t get cocky people, we are just warming up.  Take the lay-ups while you have the chance :)

Update (forgot the attribution): The keys are from here, the guitar from here, the protestor from here, and the airplane from here.

Name that 80s movie #1

I’ll start this series easy, and make it harder as we go. These icons are all from The Noun Project, and the 4 Icon Challenge assignment has been neglected thus far this Summer, so I figured this might inspire folks to get a quick 3 stars and have fun while doing it.

I got the snow here, the children here (I modified this one), the tuxedo here, and the axe here.

More 80s 4 Icon Film challenges coming soon.

One story/Four Icons

This idea was first suggested by Tom Woodward and has been a long standing popular ds106 assignment, but mis-filed in the Visual Assignments category (see the 80+ examples done there). This is really a design task, so hang ‘em here from now on. The assignment is to reduce a movie, story, or event into its basic elements, then take those visuals and reduce them further to simple icons, four of them. Write your blog post up but do not give away the answer, let people guess! The challenge is to find the icons that suggest the story, but do not make it so easy.

I kinda didn’t follow directions I didn’t do it to the main idea of the movie but more to my favorite part of the movie. This movie was so hilarious to me I could not stop lauging. well since I can’t tell you the title of the movie I can tell you that this movie was kinda of a chick flick for men.

I did not do anything to these pictures I just looked up some icons that I helped me best describe my favorite part in the movie. Good luck!!!  On figuring it out.

Assignment:

This idea was first suggested by Tom Woodward and has been a long standing popular ds106 assignment, but mis-filed in the Visual Assignments category (see the 80+ examples done there). This is really a design task, so hang ‘em here from now on. The assignment is to reduce a movie, story, or event into its basic elements, then take those visuals and reduce them further to simple icons, four of them. Write your blog post up but do not give away the answer, let people guess! The challenge is to find the icons that suggest the story, but do not make it so easy.

Process: I took pictures (or icons) from microsoft word and/or my collection of random images on my computer. I put them together on microsoft word, and took a screenshot of the image. Then i posted it directly onto the blog.

Story:

Unfortunately, i am unable to provide you guys with the title of the movie. Take a look at the four icons i put together…maybe you can guess what movie it is! Its definitely a childhood classic (for us 90s kids).

Good luck!

Images taken from microsoft word and my “online photo collection” (unable to track down original creator).

Geuss this movie

Assignment:” The assignment is to reduce a movie, story, or event into its basic elements, then take those visuals and reduce them further to simple icons, four of them. Write your blog post up but do not give away the answer, let people guess! The challenge is to find the icons that suggest the story, but do not make it so easy.”

The process: I took a few images from Microsoft word and copied it to paint. I used paint to make the whole assignment. The Jordan Jumpman logo came from wikipedia. Everything was copied and pasted on paint, so nothing too fancy, just very simplistic.

Story:

According to the assignment, I am unable to reveal the title of this movie. All I can say is that this movie was the highlight of my childhood. If a hint is needed, then please refer to the image below. I’d write more about this assignment buy I would’nt want to give the tittle of the movie away.

This is probably the easiest-to-decipher of these submitted yet,…

This is probably the easiest-to-decipher of these submitted yet, but I had to start somewhere. I found an iPad app for drawing that was very fun to use, so I decided to put it to great use for this simple assignment between web programming and helping the kids with their snowboots.

One Story/ Four Icons

This is the one story four icon assignment that is worth three stars. This was a fun assignment to do. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER ALERT. I am going to say what the 4 icons mean, although the caption kinda gives it away. January is usually the beginning of the semester where students don’t care much about their grade. When the end of the semester comes, which is usually April, students try to kiss as much *** as possible to get that B. I enjoyed this project.

DS106 One Story/ Four Icons

Assignment

I chose this assignment, One Story/ FOur Icons. because it is very unique. I watched many other assignments, but this one is the best assignment ever. I was really motivated. The assignment mentions “The assignment is to reduce a movie, story, or event into its basic elements, then take those visuals and reduce them further to simple icons, four of them. Write your blog post up but do not give away the answer, let people guess! The challenge is to find the icons that suggest the story, but do not make it so easy.”

Process

I used aviary as editing tools. Now I used to use the application, so I put the four photo into same sheet. The four photo came from googl reserched. Photo: Fighting, Suit, Bags, Audi This time I took only 10 minutes to create it. I think every one can do this easily, so I changed the style. I paint a little to make it special.

Story

I chose one movie which has car action plus nice stroy. There are 3 movies. I really like the movie because main person is so cool. I want you to watch this movie !!!Please check it out and Guess what I suppose to say ^^

i’m not telling you

i’m NOT TellING you tHe tItLe of this movie…you’Ll have to guess

This movie is sort of obscure, so I included a not so subtle hint in this post. It’s another one of my favorite movies. I own the DVD and a book of the screenplay, which I found at a used bookstore downtown.

“I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her.”

To do this assignment, I chose four elements which I thought represented key elements in the story, and I arranged them somewhat in order. I used InstantRetro to add an effect to the icons so the image looked more artistic. I love InstantRetro. I used it to edit a lot of my photos because it’s simple and has a lot of effects to choose from.

Guess the movie!
