Radio Show Poster

So this week before we finish our radio show project we were prompted to make a poster advertising our Radio Show. I scoured the internet for a picture relating to autumn and Halloween  but also less on the spooky side of things. The poster I made in Pic Monkey by changing some of the contrast settings etc and adding the text to complete the poster.

Radio Poster

My ds106 radio show poster

Our group radio show theme is Halloween; each group member will tell a story related to Halloween. One of my group members will tell a funny Halloween story, while other member will tell a romantic Halloween story. Similarly, one will have introduction and the other will end up the show by talking about the Halloween itself. In this regard my contribution is to tell a horror story and use horror sound effects to best reflect the situation. My horror story is not my Halloween experience as it is with my some of group members since I have never celebrated Halloween in my country; but I believe it is a good chance to learn about it through this radio show.

This is my ds106 radio show poster; as our group theme is Halloween thus, we will be telling horror stories. So I thought this poster would be perfect. I took UMW‘s campus photo and I added horror elements to it in http://www.picmonkey.com/ with its Halloween special section. We have not come out with a group name yet therefore I put group one.

Roadtrip Radio!

This week we were required to do Design Assignment 50 worth 2 stars, we were suppose to come up with a bumper sticker, poster, or t-shirt to advertise our shows! This must be theme specific.  I decided to create a poster!

We decided on a road-trip theme! Once you listen to our show other details in this poster will make a lot of sense, I just don’t want to give to much away before you listen to us!

I used GIMP to create my poster! I started out with a picture of a road surrounded by desert. I played around with the coloring on this photo. I decided to use the posterize tool, this tool reduces the amount of colors used and you can select which level you wish to use. I really liked this tool I feel like it makes the photo look more like a drawing. After I had the coloring like I wanted it, I added my text, I played around with the colors and font style. And then for a cool touch I added a glare in the clouds, my goal was to make it look like the sun was shinning through them. I am pleased with the outcome of my poster!

Design Assignment #6

Last one, I promise. And it just so happens to be my radio show promo poster! woohoo! (2 stars)

road trip

Yes, I realize that I have quoted Willie Nelson, but for the sake of ds106 radio, I don’t think he would care. I also changed the lyrics up a bit. Because we are going with a roadtrip theme, I knew I wanted an image of the open road. I found it, here. I loved the vivid colors and the feel of the open road you get from the image. There’s also balance and a sense of relaxation derived from that.

I love the song “On the Road Again”. In fact, that might be the bumper I make for our show. Whenever I think of roadtrips, that’s the song that comes into my head. So I adapted the lyrics for the purpose of ds106 radio. I imported the image into photoshop, added the text, and voila! Ds106 promo poster perfection! (well, sorta.). The blue sky was the perfect place for the text box, and I felt I was immediately drawn to it.

Our theme for our radio show is Autumn mixed with Halloween. We will do interview form asking people of there experiences during this time of year. Any cool stories or Halloween jokes, etc. I used the program artweaver, and chose several images off google. I picked an autumn leaves background, carved pumpkins, pumpkin beer, and a halloween joke. I turned the autumn leaves to grayscale and added a splash of color to two of the leaves. then I added in the pumpkins and lowered the opacity to blend into the autumn leaves. After that I added a halloween joke as a text on the leaves. Lastly I added the pumpkin beer and also lowered the opacity and rotated them a little.

My DS106 Radio Design

Halloween

I chose to do this as my design for our radio show to demonstrate this months festivities. I went to Google and found the perfect picture to represent spooky story telling, which is part of our theme for our radio station. After I found my image I went to Picmonkey. From there I added Halloween font and came up with my saying. I really can’t wait to hear other peoples stories about Halloween and this time of month!

WRTZ Poster

I don’t want to spoil the show or anything, so don’t continue reading if you plan to listen to our show!!

But if it’s necessary, we were required to make a poster for our radio station this week and this is what I came up with!

So I don’t want to give up many details from our show, but you should get the idea. This poster actually took some effort…and tons of frustration. I almost quit on GIMP today because it wouldn’t do what I wanted it to. Thankfully what I couldn’t do/figure out in GIMP, I was able to do in Paint. I’m proud of the headphones I was able to get on the zombie, and even more proud of stealing the XM symbol and converting it to DS106…DS106 RULES!! LISTEN TO OUR SHOW!

Ds 106 Poster/Ad

DS106Radio

Our radio show is obviously going to be about autumn and “everything nice.” I first googled autumn trees and found the background and decided I had to involve pumpkin spice in there some where. Then, for my ad/poster, I pretty much plunked everything on the same picture after cropping it and added a cute little saying: “Fall into Autumn”.

I think it gets the point across quite nicely.

ROAD TRIP

Our Ds106 Radio group decided to do our broadcast themed as a road trip. ( So be getting excited for that!). I designed a Poster for our radio show using picmonkey.com. I upload a picture of my boyfriend Nathan from a trip to OBX. Then, used the “add text” option on the website to put words to his expression. Which, I personally think is hilarious.

Radio Show Contributions and Poster All in One Post!

On Monday October 1 our Radio Group 1 met for the first time.  It was really nice to meet in person because then as a group we decided what each of our contributions would be to the project.  For our show we are going to be talking about Halloween, the history of it, as well as share some personal stories that we have experienced during Halloween.  My personal contribution to the group is to work on the conclusion of the radio show which will be talking about safety trick-or-treating, as well as what people should consider while going out on Halloween night.  I’m really looking forward to getting a start on this radio show.  We also decided as a group to meet again to do one introduction to our radio show.  As a group we still haven’t picked a name but this week we are planning on mass tweeting our ideas and then deciding on a name.  For now below is my design assignment poster for our Radio Show.

DS106 Radio

Come up with an aesthetic for ds106 radio. If you were to create a shirt, bumper sticker, poster, etc. what would it look like? See WFMU as an example/inspiration.

This is a 2 star assignment

To start this assignment I went to Google Images and just searched for anything having to do with Autumn and Halloween.  It is then where I found this picture below.  I choose this picture to represent our group because we are not just going to tell scary stories but also funny ones as well.  I thought this picture didn’t represent being too scary but also have more of a fun kind of theme to it.  Since we haven’t thought of a name yet I decided just to use our Twitter tag #ADAAM we’ve been using to communicate.  I then used Photoshop Editor online to add the text into this image.  When we decide on a group name we agree on I will then change the text in the poster.
