Oh the fish face.

BEWARE!  IF YOU KEEP READING AND SEE THE VIDEO, PLEASE DON’T EVER MENTION IT TO ME BECAUSE IT’S BEYOND EMBARRASSING.  PLEASE AND THANK YOU :)

Okay, now that that’s out-of-the-way, we shall continue.  So the assignment I chose to do was called 30 Second Documentary, and it’s basically for us to make a documentary of anything we see, are good at doing, bad at doing, or anything we wanted.  The assignment was a “show don’t tell” but I totally told because the video is super embarrassing and I didn’t want people just watching and not knowing what happens.  Okay, so it’s not that bad, but it’s embarrassing to me.  It’s one of my secret talents haha.  So I can make a fish face, and hold it for a super long time.

You may be wondering, how did I acquire such skill? Well it all started when I was 8.  My uncle had a fish tank with tons of fish, and I thought they were so cute.  So I went on a quest to figure out how to make the face (because I thought it would make me look cute too?)… I spent long days, and long nights practicing.  Until one day, I was able to make it and hold it.  So it’s not the best looking face in the world.. butttttt maybe one day you’ll find someone who loves making fishy faces with you and all your hard work will be appreciate it by someone who does weird things too! :)

30 Second Documentary! (3 Stars)

For this assignment I chose to do a quick silent tutorial showing someone how to make a paper boat. The story behind paper boats and I is that I’ve been making these silly things for a very long time, In times of stress, anxiety, sadness, happiness, birthdays, sometimes funerals (judge if you want) …etc. This was the first thing my uncle taught me how to make before he passed away, so maybe i’m in a way holding on to my uncle every time i make these paper boats. Silly but true!

Process: Used a typical photo booth web cam on my MacBook Pro to record it then upload it on youtube.

Five Animal Sidekicks in Five Seconds

Six seconds, to be honest.

Maddie’s 30-second Documentary

Or rather, Maddie’s 27-second documentary.

Close enough.

Speed Cooking show

For this mission I had to create a 30 second documentary that showed, rather than told.

I decided to document something I’m amazing it… making sandwiches. I’m good in the kitchen (but no baking, can’t bake to save my life), the only thing I’m probably better at is eating and enjoying food (I have to soul of a 300lb chef).

I decided to make it a bit amusing by speeding up the process (I did so manually- as in a made my sandwich extremely quickly lol) and by taking myself VERY seriously. The sandwich is sauted chicken breast and a eggplant based paste called “Baba Ghanooj” (its like humus, except with eggplants… its amazing). Nothing fancy, but a masterpiece nonetheless because … well it was made by me.

As funny as it is, I think it has a deeper meaning. That sometimes the attitude is what makes it a feast, not the food. A slice of pizza and a soda can be turned into a feast if the approach is proper. This is a huge part of me. I’m big on sharing meals, and really appreciate good food; I think it is a universal that brings people together.

Well enough of my rant, here it is…….

I’m Winning

The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.

The 30 Second Documentary, you had to show but don’t tell. Topics were how to make something, something you’re horrible at, or something you’re amazing at.

The 30 Second Documentary, my topic was show something I was AMAZING AT… which is being an aunt. I love my niece and I don’t care how tired I am I will play with her and teach her new catch phrases. Our latest catch phrase is Michael Sheen’s “I’m Winning.”

While babysitting one night, I used my iPhone to record her and myself having fun… All I did was trim some of the extra footage on my phone and uploaded it to YouTube.

This assignment is worth *** (3 Stars)

true life: i am a cs major

For this assignment, I chose to do a 30-second documentary on the life of a computer science major since I am a computer science major and therefore pretty authoritative on the subject. Going by the assignment’s description of “show, don’t tell,” I showed what it’s like to code all. the. time.

So, let me tell you a little bit about majoring in computer science at UMW. The department is small, consisting of about six professors at the moment. There are two tracks, traditional and computer information systems. (Don’t even get me started on that debate.) The track I chose was computer information systems. Basically, instead of the really hard computer science classes, I get to take business classes and I’ll end up making pretty much the same thing as traditional, career-wise. Majoring in computer science requires a lot of coding, spending time in that black-backgrounded command-line environment, thinking like a computer, trying to make computers think like a person.

Aside from the hard-work side of things, computer science is loads of fun. You get to create social networking sites, make games, write software. The thing I like most about my major is that I’m making real things. A real, functioning social networking website, software that can be used in the real world, things like that. It’s so satisfying to see all your hard work paying off. It’s not like some other major where you write a paper, turn it in, and all you have to show for it is your extensive working knowledge of some obscure topic and a letter grade (no offense). You work and you code and then you have something like this* to show for it.

*Not entirely sure if that’s a working link as the wifi I’m currently connected to won’t allow me to access the UMW Rosemary server…I’ll edit accordingly once I can check.

Week 8 Video Production: (My 30-second Documentary Video 3 STAR ASSIGNMENT) & (My Product-Review Video 1 STAR ASSIGNMENT)

Okay, first off I kind of had a hard time editing both videos, because i couldn’t find imovie on my computer, so instead i just used my IPhone 4S to record the 2 videos, and then I uploaded both of them to my youtube account and then edited it on video manager. The first video is called the 30 second documentary where I show my audience how to cook steak fajitas in only 30 seconds, I enjoyed doing this, however it was kind of hard trying to keep it only 30 seconds when teaching someone how to cook something. Overall I enjoyed fooling around with the effects and audio tools, to make the video look more unique. Now, for the second video I had to discuss with everyone a product  that I think is very useful so I chose to talk about my iPhone 4s case which is called the mophie juice pack air and it charges your iPhone automatically inside of the case without having to use your actual iPhone charger, so i know a lot of people will enjoy learning how to use it and may even want to think about purchasing it, i also edited this video using the effects tools on video manager in my youtube account. Hope you guys like it! check it out by clicking on the link! You can only view with the link! Thanks:)!
